After a long sleep, Meng Li slowly woke up. The first thing he did, which had already became a habit, was to check for how long he had slept.

[You slept for one and a half day.] the system actually predicted his actions, pleasing him greatly. Automation truly was a lifestyle!~ However, knowing that he didn't sleep for years at a time pleased Meng Li greatly.

Taking some time to do a few stretches and gather his bearings, Meng Li then emerged from his room. Ye Jin and Xie Ja were still cultivating - they were coerced to start this 'secluded cultivation' by Ye Jian, who convinced them that they were at the brink of breaking through to the fourth layer of Qi Gathering. Meng Li didn't know if Ye Jian used some secret technique or if he was just lucky, but Ye Jin and Xie Ja were actually just about to break through at the end of the two week period.

Smiling in content, Meng Li descended into the inn to eat a meal. He didn't need to, but he wanted to taste the cooking of the inn's chef. Every time he had tried to do so previously, he was stopped... Well, he was stopped one time. Oh who cares about details, Meng Li for sure didn't.

Throughout the entire process of walking down to the ground floor, Meng Li experienced the strange gazes the servants sent him. At first, it puzzled him a bit, but after thinking, he was able to tell why.

Even if he didn't want to admit it, the way he looked was quite eye catching, and it was definitely enough to make people remember him. The servants definitely noticed him when they entered the inn and booked their room, which were the most premium rooms the inn had on top of it. Then, he stayed in his room for a whole two weeks without any sign of life, or so the servants thought. That is because one day, while they're still sure that they are in their rooms, Ye Jian and Meng Li come strolling in from the outside.

While thinking about the situation, Meng Li contemplated on whether teleporting directly into their rooms would be a better alternative. He came to the conclusion that it wouldn't be - staying in their room for a whole two weeks straight without eating was still strange. Anyways, what was the use in regretting one's past actions? Since he had already done so, then what use is there in regretting his mistakes? He would simply acknowledge those mistakes and move on!

On another note, the meal the inn provided turned out to be quite good, though it used low quality ingredients. If the chef was provided with high level ingredients, he would be able to cook some extremely good meals! Meng Li thought idly about an immortal chef, but doing so made him remember all of the 'cooking with a system' novels that seemed to be extremely popular for some reason. And the system always came with an extremely OP protection system, and plenty of faceslapping. Oh, and maybe a loli.

Meng Li couldn't help but shudder while thinking about those novels. Normally, they would seem completely outlandish and impossible to a normal person on earth, but looking at the situation he was in at the moment, they were... plausible. Fortunately, his master wasn't some kind of gourmet-obsessed sadist, and he didn't end up with such a system.

While thinking those kinds of idle thoughts, Meng Li finished his meal. He didn't leave just yet - he was simply sitting at the table, staring into space. His gaze, although to any bystander was obviously not aimed at anything, one person had the unfortunate fate of being at the end of Meng Li's unfocused stare. That person was a young man, seemingly twenty years in age.

Being focused on by such a strange looking person, the young man was of course at least a bit unsettled. He seemed quite jumpy, and sent glances at Meng Li every couple minutes to check if Meng Li was still staring. Unfortunately for the young man, Meng Li's talent in doing boring things for extremely long periods of time was unimaginably greater than his talent for cultivation. Or, it could be described as part of it. Thus, Meng Li still stared, his gaze unmoving and without emotions, aking to a dead fish.

After a few minutes of this mental torture, the young man couldn't help it, and changed seats to the opposite side of his table. Unfortunately for the young man, Meng Li's gaze followed him. No one could tell whether it was an extremely strange curse or this young man's luck was simply abysmal.

However, to this young man, this change in Meng Li's gaze was a clear indication that Meng Li was staring at him. Thus, after another few minutes where Meng Li proceeded to stare into space, the young man couldn't take it anymore and shouted across the inn to Meng Li.

"What are you staring at?!" the young man was incensed. His gaze contained anger and he was practically on the verge of standing up and trying to beat Meng Li to a pulp. Even if he thought of himself as an easy going person, his patience still had its' limits.

Meng Li finnally seemed to wake up at this time. And imperceptible glint returned to his previously dead eyes, which could only be described as consciousness. His eyes also focused on what was before them - the young man. What greeted muddle headed Meng Li was an angry young man.

"What's the matter?" Meng Li asked, confused. However, his reply only seemed to enrage the young man. The young man, previously on the edge of his seat, now violently stood up and started walking towards Meng Li.

"What's the matter?! You've been staring at me for the past half an hour! I'm trying to eat in peace, okay?! Stare at someone else, you freak!" the young man was practically driven crazy by Meng Li's gaze, and was now unleashing his frustration at him.

After he had shouted enough and calmed down, the young man was instantly dumbfounded. How did he lose his bearing so easily?! Normally, he could kill without batting an eye, receive insults or compliments without even acknowledging them, and withstand many gazes while walking through crowds, and now, he had lost his mind from simply one person staring at him with... With those freaking dead fish eyes!!

'No, I need to calm down!' the young man was scared. When he thought of Meng Li's gaze, he was practically instantly going crazy... This... This had to be some sort of demonic technique, right?!

The young man couldn't help but clutch his head in confusion. He was extremely confused at the moment. He had actually yelled at someone... He couldn't remember the last time he actually yelled at someone. How could this happen!?

At the same time the young man was having a mental breakdown, Meng Li was still sitting at his chair, dumbfounded. He was simply thinking about random matters, and here comes this nutjob, screaming something about staring at him, and now he's going crazy? Meng Li truly had no idea what was happening.

This sentiment was shared by the rest of the people in the inn. Although Meng Li attracted some attention when he came down, due to his bearing, people quickly lost interest in him when he ate his meal and proceeded to stare into space. The same came to the young man yelling at Meng Li - he attracted even less attention than Meng Li, and even that was only due to his proud demeanor. Now, those two unassuming individuals had created such a strange scene - how could people not stare?

Meng Li was still sitting in his chair a few minutes after the whole incident. He had completely no idea on how to deal with the young man currently clenching his head and sneaking glimpses at his face. This... Was wholly outside his zone of understanding, at a level where he was not at all sure on where to even start.

Fortunately, the strange situation had ended when Ye Jian ventured into the inn. He came from the stairs leading to the rooms people rented out, which meant that he probably stopped cultivating a few minutes ago. It could be due to the young man's shout, or simply due to fate - whatever was the case, Meng Li sent a plea using his eyes for Ye Jian to settle this extremely strange situation for him.

"Brother Meng, what's going on here?" Ye Jian asked Meng Li, extremely puzzled. However, Meng Li couldn't really provide an answer, since he had no idea what was going on as well. Ye Jian noticed this fact from Meng Li's silently panicking stare, and simply asked the young man directly.

"Friend, what's going on here?" Ye Jian asked. It seemed like this young man was the cause of all this weirdness, and he was eager to figure out what exactly was going on.

"This guy... His gaze... That fucking gaz... Arghhh!" the young man clutched his head once again, but it was enough for Ye Jian to see that this breakdown was purely mental. He had a strange gaze towards the young man. Although troubles with one's state of mind were usually dismissed easily by cultivators, with his past cultivation base, he knew more about them than an average joe. Troubles with one's state of mind wouldn't usually affect a person's cultivation base or battle ability, but they could impede a cultivator's growth. It was something called an 'inner demon', and to progress quickly, a cultivator needed to purge his mind from these kinds of demons.

These demons were created from various circumstances - some were created after large setbacks, some were created from a huge trauma, other were created due to a difference between one's actions and thoughts. This one seemed like the last type - Ye Jian, from his meagerd understanding of the situation, guessed that somehow, Meng Li's stare cause this young man to become unusually angry, and it somehow managed to conflict with his inner values, creating an inking of an inner demon.

Even though Ye Jian didn't have any connection to the youth, he still felt some pity towards him. His current predicament seemed to be caused unknowingly by Meng Li, and as such, they shouldn't leave the youth on his own without helping him... Somehow. Ye Jian, despite his high cultivation base, had practically no experience with inner demons, and as such, he was quite troubled.

However, as they had to do something, Ye Jian placed a hand on the youth's shoulder, acting like he was going to help him, but stabbed his thumb into the side of the young man's neck and sent a thread of Qi in. This small actions actually caused the youth to instantly lose consciousness, even with his cultivation at the eighth layer of Qi Gathering. However, Ye Jian kept the thumb poked in, and used the small thread of Qi to carefully control the young man's body not to instantly slump to the floor, but instead sway unsteadily before finally end up slumped on Ye Jian's shoulder.

While he was doing so, Ye Jian acted as though he was surprised and hurriedly helping the young man stand up, before muttering something to Meng Li and going towards the stairs, holding the youth on his shoulder.

Meng Li still was sitting still at his chair, utterly dumbfounded. Ye Jian's mutter didn't help, instead adding onto his confusion.

"He's got an inner demon which you created. Come with me."

After a couple seconds, Meng Li finally blinked in confusion and went after Ye Jian. It seemed as though he had somehow done something bad to the young man... But Meng Li was still completely clueless on how he had managed to do so.
