Shawn and I were outside skiing again. It was near the end of the day. We made just one last run down the slope together. I was just behind Shawn. I see him gliding thru the snow so easily and gracefully while I was skiing carefully. He reached the end of the slope first. I see him looking at me and waving his hand. Just one last glide then I reach him.
"Wow that was awesome." I said while panting.
"You're improving." Shawn said. "I don't want to admit but your brother is a good teacher." Shawn said with a bitter face.
I giggled. "Are you being jealous again?" I tease him. I remove my skis and drop my snow poles. I place my arms around his waist and give him a hug. "He's my brother. You don't need to worry." I said and smiled. But he didn't know that my smile has a hidden meaning.
He hugged me back. "I love you." Shawn said.
"And I love you." I replied.
Shawn was taking of his skis when we heard some skiers arrived at the end of the slope where we both were standing. When I look back it was Julia and her group of friends. Brad was with them as well.
"Oh look we bump to each other again." Julia said with a hidden hint of jealousy. It looks like she saw Shawn and I hugging just now.
Shawn's gaze fell on Brad. I can see him clench his fist in anger.
"What are you doing here?" Shawn asked. "Didn't I tell you to don't go near Queenie." he was about to pounce on Brad.
"Shawn calm down. He wants to apologize to the both of you that's why we're here." Julia tried to calm him down.
"Shawn, man I want to really apologize to you and Jill." Brad said.
"Apologize? What for?" I asked confused. "Shawn calm down." I hold Shawn's arm.
Brad was approaching us. "Shawn please listen. I didn't want that incident 8 years ago to happen. I also loved Jill." Brad said apologetically.
After Shawn heard the word love he snapped. He pushed Julia down and she fell on the snowy ground. I wasn't able to hold on to his arm because he was stronger and also fell as well. Shawn threw a punch right at Brad's face. Brad fell down on the snow but Shawn didn't stop. He was punching Brad left and right. I was surprised with the rage Shawn was exhibiting.
"Fuck you. You son of a bitch. Who are you to tell me that you love her. If I have known better you drugged her that night. If I didn't succumbed to my anger back then I should have known the truth before Jill fell off that cliff." I can hear anger in Shawn's words. He was blaming Brad but also blaming himself for not believing in me. My heart squeezed. A forgotten wound had started to ache.
The other guy friend of Julia stopped Shawn. The guy was struggling to hold on to him. I ran towards Shawn to calm him down.
"Shawn please cam down." I said pleading to him. When he saw me he started to sober. He broke free from the man's grip.
"Come Queenie let's go back. It's better not to listen to what this son of a bitch is saying." Shawn said.
I just nodded at him. I look at Brad lying on the snow with a bloody nose. I bowed to him as a gesture of sorry. Then Shawn took my hands and dragged me back to the resort.
Julia was still lying on the snow. She had a sour look on her face. 'But at least I have made a good move.' Julia thought. Then when she was about to get up she saw something shining on the snow. She picked up a chain with a ring on it. She saw something engraved on the ring.
"Forever T&Q." Julia read loudly. She smiled wickedly.
