We were driving in a long stretch of the road. It has been a while when we left the church. I was curious that we haven't came across a single car since we left.
"Sawyer, don't you think it's odd? We haven't came across a single car since we left the church." I said. "I don't know if I'm just being paranoid."
"Come to think of it ma'am, your right. It is odd." Sawyer answered.
We were silent for a while.
"Ma'am I don't want to alarm you but the car at behind us has been tailing us since we left the church." Sawyer looked at me in the rear view mirror.
"What?!" I looked at the back and there was indeed a car meters away from us. My heart started to thump hard. 'I have a bad feeling about this.'
"Sawyer try to speed up and lose that car behind us." I ordered him.
"Yes ma'am." Sawyer stepped on the gas harder and I can feel the car speed up.
I look at the car behind us and it was trying to match our speed.
"That is not just some random car." I said. "Sawyer step on it!" I said with eagerness.
Now our car was speeding. Maybe at least 100-120 KPH. The car behind us is keeping up on us.
I get my phone in my bag and dialed Troy's number. It was ringing for quite a while.
"Come on Troy. Pick it up." I was getting impatient.
"Hello, Queenie?" Troy answered at last.
"Troy! Someones chasing us!" My voice came out more louder than I intended.
"What!" Troy shouted. "Where are you now? Can you see the plate number of the car?"
"We left the church a while ago and driving at the road leading to the highway. I can't see the plate number of the car. It's still a distance to us. All I can say is it is a black car." I answered.
"Okay tell Sawyer to drive fast and get to the highway quickly. Once there you can blend in with the other cars. I'll come as fast as... 'Beep beep beep'." Troy's call was cut.
"Hello, Troy? Hello, hello!"
"I'm afraid they have signal jammers ma'am." Sawyer said. "My phone doesn't have signal as well."
"Signal jammers?" I said. I looked at the car behind and it was gaining on us. "Signal jammers can only be used at a distance. Sawyer can you speed it up some more?"
"I'll try ma'am. But I'm afraid that our car's speed is no match to there's." Sawyer said.
Looking at the car behind I think it was a muscle car that can really give a top speed.
I can feel our speed is very fast but the car behind was gaining on us.
"Hold on ma'am. There is a huge curve up ahead." Sawyer said.
"Okay." I buckled my seat belt and held on to the arm rest.
My heart was racing very fast. Adrenaline was rushing inside my body. I can see the huge curve up ahead and we weren't slowing down. It was like we are in the Fast and Furious movie.
Then in the curve Sawyer swerved the car. I can feel the motion of the car jerk sideways. My body is being thrown to the other side. I was holding the arm rest with all my might.
"Are you okay ma'am?" Sawyer asked after we passed the curve.
"Yes, I'm okay." But my heart is still thumping hard. "Did we gain distance?"
"It looks like the driver in that car is also a pro." Sawyer exclaimed.
I look at the car chasing us it was at a distance but is gaining on us again.
"Sawyer we don't have any choice but to get to the highway quickly. We can try to lose them there." I said.
'Boom!' There was a huge explosion.
"What was that?!" I shouted in fright. Our car was swerving wildly.
"Ma'am hold on! The tires were punctured. I'm losing control of the car!" Sawyer shouted.
With our speed and the tires blown out the car was out of control. There was only one thing in my mind 'The car will surely crash'.
Sawyer was fighting with the wheel to regain at least a little control of the car. My heart is now thumping like crazy.
"MA'AM HOLD ON!" Sawyer shouted. I held on the arm rest as my life depended on it.
Then I felt the car lose gravity. My body was feeling light.
'BAAM' the car landed on the cement of the road. It rolled and rolled until after a while it slowed down and stopped.
I open my eyes slowly. I can feel pain all over my body. I was seeing upside down. It looks like the car was turned over.
"Sawyer?" I looked at the passenger seat. I see Sawyer there unconscious.
My consciousness is also fading as well. Then I hear footsteps coming near.
"Are they still alive?" I hear a man's voice.
"Let's see." Another man answered.
My vision was foggy. I can only see the silhouette of the two men peaking in the broken window.
"Help me get this open." The man said.
They were breaking the window glass. After a while they where successful to break all of it.
I can feel arms pulling me out. I want to fight but my body isn't doing as I tell it to.
"Dammit! She's still buckled up. Get me a knife." The other man said. I can hear the other man walking away.
With all the strength that I can still muster I reach for something in my purse. When I was able to feel it in my hand I put it in my dress pocket.
"Here." The man has returned. The other man was cutting my seatbelt then I was free from the seat. They pulled me out. I can feel some broken shards of glass graze my skin
My mind is feeling groggy. The darkness is trying to engulf me. I see the silhouette of the two man looking at me.
"Looks like she's still alive." Said the man.
"Ma'am Victoria wants her alive for now. Let's carry her back to the car." The other man said.
'Victoria, so you made your move.' I thought. Then the darkness engulfed me.
