Zion thought to himself "did I die"? It was dark; Zion was not able to open his eyes. However, he could feel the coldness in the skin and the warm sunlight that nurturing his face. There was no shouting or screaming; everything was silent apart from some machine noises. Zion rubbed his hand on the bed, it was soft and smooth.

Zion opened his eyes with great difficulty, astonishment arouses his face, and there were no grim sky overhead and mangled corpses in sight. Instead, a warm sunlight washes through the open window and refreshed his eyes. The sky was clear and he could hear the liveliness on the street.

Zion lies on the bed and watched outside, immersed in this luxury, he felt protected; he had a sense of happiness and comfort that never had for a long time. He felt intoxicated in this sense of pleasure, and his eye's tear up.

Slowly and gently, Zion rises from the luxurious bed and looked at a full-scale mirror. He saw a familiar yet strange face in the mirror, "how long was it, am I dreaming"? He pinched himself.

"ZION come down and have breakfast" he heard a familiar voice. It was nostalgic and a sense of memories rushed in. "I am coming" Zion responded and started to brush his teeth and looked himself in the mirror with a grin on the face. "I can't believe it, I got this beautiful prince like face back" he mumbled himself. It was not Zion being narcissistic; he was beautiful, but the horrors he encountered never let Zion care about his physical appearances.

With a refreshed face devoid of any sleepiness or restlessness, he watched his mobile; it was 22/12/21xx. HOLY SHIT! Zion lost himself and shouted.

"ZION! Who are you shouting at, come down; everyone is waiting for you."

"I am coming mom, give me second."

'I was traveled back in time a full year prior to the end', Zion was astonished. "Does that mean I have a full one year to prepare for what to come? On the other hand, was I dreaming about the apocalypse, but it did feel real". Zion stood with the mobile for a while.

At this moment, Zion's forehead broke out in cold sweat, and his body began to tremble slightly because he clearly remembered about the disasters. "Will the apocalypse happen again"? Zion didn't know, he simply can't tell at this moment whether those memories of his were simply a dream or reality.

"Snap out of it kid, you are not dreaming!"

"Who was it, show yourself"! Zion startled by the new, strange, but an immature voice.

"Do not look around; I am inside your consciousness". The voice said.

"So who are you? Moreover, what are you doing with my mind"? Zion questioned the voice.

"I'm the spirit of the pendant, the one controlling the magical instrument."

"So you are the one ha"! Zion fumed. "Do you know how much I struggled? For that useless gadget."

"Yes, I know, but look around you, aren't you happy now? You were a full year ahead of what to come, now prepare yourselves and don't waste this second chance."

ZION! His mother started to scream aloud.

Mobile beeped and Zion saw a red angry emoji from his older sister.

"Oh, shit! I guess I'm in deep trouble."

"Let's talk later spirit, I must get down now."

Zion took a white T-shirt and run for the stairs wearing it.

Zion rushed downstairs hearing a lively dining hall. His father was reading the newspaper while waiting for the food. His father was always fond of reading newspaper, even in this digital age. Perhaps it is wise to keep a hard copy of important things, during the apocalypse humanity lost all the data they saved until the date. The digital civilization was destroyed in a matter of seconds.

His mother was singing while getting the food. His twin older brother and sister were discussing university finals. Both of them are twenty-one this year and will finish their graduation next month. Zion and the twins were four years apart. He always thought 'what were his parents doing four years to generate a kid'.

The closer Zion got into the hall, the more nervous he felt. Perhaps only when you lose someone will you know how precious they were to you.

He lived his previous life in a daze without caring about anything and not even appreciating what his parents were doing for him. Now he was nervous to have breakfast with them.

Zion's father Nathaniel Nox was an influential man in the silver city. He was one of the senior members in the city council and has much respect from the folks. He also has much influence in the Silver City underworld, but to what extent no one knows. He was also an Ex-member of ASF (Allied Special Forces). A special strike force that dispatched to counter any threat towards the alliance.

"Zion, you have come down finally, don't you know we were waiting for you and mom is not going to let us have anything until everyone is seated". His sister was mad nearly assaulting him.

"It's my bad, I'm sorry". Zion apologized immediately to cool of the incoming assault.

Zion seated next to his sister Nora, she was beautiful and enchanting like their mother. She got their mother's perfect looks and intelligence as well. He looked at his sister and thought of her death; she had to commit suicide to escape something worse than death. At this moment Zion's nose suddenly turned sour.

"Zion, what is going on with you"? Nora saw Zion's condition wasn't right and immediately asked. "Nothing, I was just thinking about something" Zion replied in a low voice. Nora gave him a skeptical look but didn't continue to question any further.

However, his brother was curious. "Zion, are you sure you are okay? You didn't get your heart broken, right. So tell me who was she?"

"Stop it LOGAN"! Zion was embarrassed and said in a low voice, "I'm not in a relationship. It is just that I'm planning a solo travel outside the city."

"Why do you want to leave the city"? A deep and gentle voice asked him. Zion looked at his father; he has folded the newspaper and waiting for an answer. "Nothing particular, I just want to look around and see what lie outside of the city" Zion replied.

Okay! His father complied and thought himself 'the kid has been matured a lot'.

At this time Zion's mother, Leslie Hale came with the food. She loves to cook for her family when everyone was together and won't let anyone be part of it. She found herself pleased with the cooking and serving once in a while.

She controls the entire logistics of the silver city through various corporations. She had stocks in the major industries of the silver city. No dared to be in cross hire with her because you won't know what or how it hits you. Those who crossed her always found financial difficulties later in their company or a scandal in the gossip column, which eventually drag them down to the pit.

Everyone started to get themselves seated and started to eat. Zion looked at the table and took a deep breath, 'how fragrant'! The deep aroma of various delicacies left him intoxicated. Zion started to eat, his mouth moved nonstop as the food disappeared swiftly into his mouth.

Seeing the food on the table being swept clean the twins was angry and started to take everything into their plate. Zion laughed at this and at that moment Zion determined to protect this happiness forever. "I'm not going to waste my 'second chance' and all my regrets will be washed clean in this lifetime" Zion pledged himself and continued to eat.
