Zion left the villa and stepped into the streets, the villa where Nox family lived was an affluent area. There was not much traffic, but he could see many people walking down the street to relax. Zion ignored them and moved forward. He walked towards a secluded area beside the lake and sat on the iron bench, which was placed there for visitors.

"You have been silent for a long time spirit" Zion broke the silence; he was looking straight at the lake and tried to communicate with the spirit through his inner thoughts.

"What do you expect me to do? You broke me off and left for your own needs, it was I who gave you this second chance. You should at least be grateful." The spirit continued, "We should prepare for the change and you would need to help me regain my strength."

"Now that's a lot of demand coming from a kid, are you sure you are not amnesiac," Zion spoke in a sarcastic tone. "There are lots of things for which you need to give me an explanation".

"Well, I would do my best to give you a satisfactory reply". The spirit said in an immature, but a serious tone." Now tell me what you need to know?"

"So how did I get back to past, I thought time traveling was impossible," Zion said his thoughts.

"Not everyone can manipulate time, 'Zion'." The spirit said and started to reminisce something.

"The time-keepers would not allow the manipulation of time; they have their own ways to stop the time manipulation. The closest anyone can do was to slow down or speed up a particular area for a period of time. Traveling to the past and changing the course of history was forbidden. It would alter the entire timeline and descent the universe into chaos by creating new timelines."

"However, we came back, didn't we?" Zion was shocked to hear something, he had never heard. "So how did we exactly came back here, one year prior to the apocalypse?"

"The parts of the timeline in which you survived and died no longer exist. Those events are something that has yet to happen, but since you know what to come, the continuation of this timeline won't be same as the one you experienced. When you died, I took your consciousness and traveled back. Your present conscious took the one from the future and assimilated that memory while you were sleeping." The spirit said.

"Now sleeping was not simple when you fall asleep. Your conscious mind becomes dormant while your subconscious mind stays awake. That is why time passes quickly while you are unconscious. The entire ten-year experience you had in the apocalypse was united with your present conscious." after a brief lecture the spirit stopped and waited for the response of Zion.

"Is this a bad thing? Would it affect my conscious somehow? What should I do?" Zion was confused and afraid. After all, consciousness was an unknown field and he did not want to risk his future.

"Have you feared Zion? Fear was the oldest friend of any species. Moreover, fear of the unknown was the greatest among all. You must learn to live in the present Zion because the future would be an unknown." The spirit guided Zion and told, "Your mind will be tough now and no one can manipulate your consciousness easily, but you would feel fluctuation in the mood for some time."

"How could anyone manipulate someone's mind?" Zion questioned the spirit. "Illusions, medicines, herbs you name it, some metals and crystals can also control your mind. You haven't seen anything 'Zion', if you think your future memories could give you an edge, you were wrong."

"You told me the part of a timeline where I died no longer exists." Zion inquired.

"Listen Zion don't sweat about the things you don't understand. It would take a long time for you to understand space, time, and matter. All you need to know would be that you are back and you need to survive what's coming." After criticizing Zion the spirit quite down.

"OK, I understand that we need to survive the apocalypse, what was your idea?" Zion asked the spirit and continued, "You never told me about yourself until now kid. What were you?"

"I'm not a kid! I lived longer than any of you! I'm an ancient being from the forgotten era itself!" The spirit fumed and barked at Zion, "You don't understand the greatness of me kid!"

"So, you were not the spirit of the pendant!" Zion asked.

"Of course, I'm not, how could you ever compare me to that old fool. My name is 'Vivus' and I'm an ancient being that roamed this world several millenniums ago." Vivus said with pride.

"Why? Why all the lies back then?" Zion was doubtful. After all, there was no need for Vivus to lie about being the spirit of the pendant in the first place. "You were in no condition to hear a deep explanation I'm afraid." Zion was speechless at that answer and embarrassed for the excitement he showed at Vivus in the beginning.

"So you stuck with me for the rest of my life." Zion was started to feel doubts towards Vivus, his motives and reactions were unpredictable and he didn't want to take chances, the betrayal from Arthur whom he trusted was quite an unexpected turn of events.

"No, my boy, you would be helping me to mold a body that can bear my strength. It would take time, but I guess we have no choice over it."

Zion rose from the bench and started to walk quietly and then lie on the grass. He looked at the sky and started to analyses everything that had happened around him. He felt so weak and stressed, with a confused face he started to walk for some time. Finally, he had a determined face. After stretching himself, Zion spoke to Vivus "There are few things I would like to state before any of our further cooperation." Zion waited for the Vivus to focus on what he was trying to express."

Vivus also had a confused look, "OK, I'm listening, what is that you want to state?"

"I don't trust you! I could not find a single reason to trust that you won't be sabotaging me in the future."

Now Vivus was silent and said, "Trust is a precious thing my boy, are you sure you are worthy of my trust. Vivus quite down and said, "We would make a soul vow, if anyone breaks the vow, their souls would be dragged back into the soul palace for reincarnation."

"The content of the soul vow would be that we won't be harming each other directly or indirectly with the thought of harming the other party."

"How would I know that soul vow even works." Zion was curious.

"Once you make the vow you would feel the vow and that vow would also warn you whenever you think of something that may harm me."

Together they vowed to never harm each other pledging their soul. A small wind brushed past Zion and left.

"Wow I could feel it, what was the mantra you spoke to evoke the vow?" Zion chattered and overwhelmed by what he felt. He never encountered something like that before and wanted to know more about it.

"You can just think of that as a permission to do a vow, they do need to know we were going to make a vow," Vivus replied and looked at Zion with complicated eyes.
