One thing James had been able to find in the library was a description of the design style for schematics in this world while it wasn't exactly simple it was easy enough for James to understand. He also found a book listing most of the weapon types used in the kingdom and they were genuinely barbaric; basic longswords, spears, and shields nothing that was that advanced and couldn't be made in hours by a skilled professional.

James' plan began to come together more and more as he collected more information from the library and by going to various shops to see what wares they had. He had also managed to find a discrepancy between raw material goods and processed goods prices, due to the simplicity of the weapons they made blacksmiths and the like honestly didn't charge much for their work.

James used his small amount of money to buy as much iron ore and coal as he could without running out of money for the blacksmiths processing fees. He then began weighing out and creating packets that he could make approximately 1kg of steel from by taking 1 kg of iron ore and a small amount of crushed coal and placing them together he had managed to buy enough materials to make 16 packets like this.

With his packets of material and his small volume of funds which he had topped up via the casino a couple of times, he headed towards the blacksmith with the best quality to price ratio he could find and asked him to fold the coal dust into the iron a few times before making it into a sword. He wasn't so stupid as to show the man what he was mixing with it, so he mixed in a few other materials powders to disguise the colour completely ending up with a bluish powder the man had never seen before.

After he had made the swords, it had already been a few days which James mostly spent in the library gaining as much knowledge about this world as he could and realised their technological advancements were truly pitiful. Upon asking the system about it, he got the answer he was expecting.

[System can speculate that most funding has been put into the magic circuits such as the PTC from the bank. Most people who specialise into crafting will go into making magic circuits as even at the lowest levels it still pays very well leaving the rest of the branches of technology to lag.]

'System show me my stats screen please.'

'Why have my stats increased?'

[STR and CON increased from you constantly carrying heavy loads back and forth and eating well, WIS increased from you making wise decisions and learning about the world you are in making decisions based on fact rather than emotion, e.g.]

Looking in the mirror in his inn room he saw that compared to his first day in this world he had lost the look of being skin and bones and had managed to put on a bit of weight and muscle.

This was the first time James had stopped to look at himself since coming to this world properly and saw a youth with short spiked up brown hair, deep hazelnut eyes, and tanned dark skin from being in the sun for too long. After he had begun to wear proper clothes instead of the sack he wore previously the friction burns from the clothes had all healed up and gone away leaving smooth skin as a sign of his youth. All in all, James felt he looked quite average which had him a bit down after reading lots of novels of people reincarnating into the most handsome men the world had ever seen.
