"Now that the demonstration is finished let's get down to business. Would anyone like to purchase any of these spears? I will be selling them for 1 Leone and 50 Birr each" James decided that the nobles had seen enough and should hopefully be ready to buy enough to outfit their men.

"I'll take 120, that way I'll have enough for my men and have some extras if they break them. I don't suppose you will be selling any of the techniques for handling these weapons? Also, I would like each spear to have one of those objects you used to remove the nail; I'm assuming that's inclusive of the price?"

Naturally for the men to become so proficient in less than a week their learning had to have been streamlined by James using his knowledge on spear techniques. The man who had been laid back the whole time was the first to place his order he wasn't as simple as he seemed and saw how useful a weapon like this would be for keeping his men alive and dominating his enemy.

"The manuals for handling the weapon will be available as well, but you will have to give me time to have them written up as, unfortunately, production speed is quite low with everything having to be handwritten."

Collectively all the other nobles placed orders for another 1,800 spears with the inner district noble putting forth a request for a whopping 200 spears; apparently, even though he may look down on James, he didn't look down on his weapons made with superior metals.

Surprisingly to James, each man paid up front for their weapons. Apparently, all the nobles knew that James wouldn't be able to escape with their money considering it was their men that guarded the kingdoms gates.

From this sale, James had managed to earn 192 Cedi, and after taking out the material costs of the spears, he would still be left with 190 Cedi and 8 Leones. He had made a killing off of these nobles!

The nobles had all left with a promise from James to have all of their spears supplied within a month and a half, so they were all satisfied. After they had all left James headed through the city and bought another ten smiths from their owners for 1 Cedi each and conceded 5 per cent of the profits to them, he also had to purchase spirit contracts for each person in the smiths which cost him another 14 Cedi in total. After buying all of the smiths James went round and purchased another seven carpenters spending another 7 Cedi on the building itself and 9 Cedi 80 Leones on the Spirit Contracts for them all.

James bought these buildings with one purpose in mind, and that was to complete all of his orders in a week, now that he was able to handle the full supply he went back to the lumber supplier and entered an exclusive trade agreement to reduce material costs even further. He also had to go and find a second supplier for iron ore to meet his demand. Each of his new smiths had to build a reverberatory furnace as well so he had to give out 5 Cedi for that in total. This left him with 144 Cedi and 28 Leones from the nobles money.

'System show my bank balance please.'

[Bank Balance:

Personal Account: 219 Cedi, 42 Leones, 70 Birr

Future Project Account: 8 Cedi, 6 Leones, 39 Birr]

James was shocked when he checked his account; he hadn't expected the patent office to be doing so well, Mr Fletcher had clearly advertised to the right people. But thanks to its success he was ready to bring forth the next step of his plan.

James hired a cart and took a ride to Merchant Fletcher's house; it was time to thank him for his help and give him an opportunity to get in on James' next business plan.

"Am I allowed to enter this time?" James recognised the man on the gate to be the same as last time decided to have a joke with him.

"Yes young master Reel, I wouldn't dare to stop you this time" the guard gave James a sheepish smile, obviously he remembered the way he treated James a few days ago.

"James, what brings you here?, I was just heading out to check on the patent office."

"I just came here to talk about a new business venture with you, to be honest, I was planning on running it by myself, but after seeing you utilise your network of connections like you did for the patent office, I realised you would be able to plan this much better than I could. As a thank you for the job you have done I would also like to give you 50 per cent ownership in the patent office, I feel I can trust you fully now" James truly meant this as well

"Oh, before I forget, how did your meeting with the nobles go?"

"I managed to sell 1920 spears at 1 Leone and 50 Birr each."

Not many people knew the material costs of the metal James had produced, but Fletcher knew that it was barely above the cost of producing iron so he found his mind freezing when he heard these numbers.

"Boy, you're damn near better than me at business, 1920 for 1.5 Leones each. Jesus, if I had known you were making that kind of profit, I would have insisted on a commision fee for contacting those nobles for you!" Naturally, Fletcher was only joking when he said this; he knew he had already benefited a lot off of James and had just been given half ownership of the patent office as a sign of good will.

"What is this new idea you've come up with now?" Mr Fletcher couldn't help but feel himself getting excited at the mention of James' idea as his first one had already been a resounding success.

"It's a pretty simple concept really; I only thought of it the other day when trying to purchase a house for myself. Why not have a centralised place to sell and buy property? There are plenty of people willing to sell their property and plenty of people trying to buy it; they have no real way to contact each other, so for a small cut of the buying price we find someone willing to buy their property and advertise the property that people are selling. These papers hold a more detailed explanation of the business, but you should get the gist of it now."

"You astound me, James, you manage to see the markets in places that other people have grown complacent, you're able to make changes that benefit everyone which is truly difficult to do. Believe me when I say that for I've been trying to do just that since I was 17 years old and only in the past 10 or so years managed to succeed in a few of my endeavours."
