"What are you talking about? Who are you?!"

"Sorry that's the wrong answer, but I'm sure your beloved husband knows the right one."

"Martin, what is he talking about? Who is he?"

Hearing the question from his wife Martin had no idea how to answer, he couldn't just tell his wife he had cheated on her like this, could he?

"You have two choices, either you tell her or I do." James was getting tired of waiting for the noble to confess, so he decided to force his hand.

"I'll give you a hint to move things along; there are two people from that story in this very room."

"Wait, so, you're the kid from the story right?" This time it was their child that answered, and without knowing he had finally begun to expose the truth.

"Yes, I was the kid from the story, you have one guess as to who the noble was."

"No, you're lying! It cant be true! He would never do something like that!" The woman began to break down in tears wondering if the story was true, she couldn't help but feel herself confirming it in the back of her mind after seeing Martins reaction, James noticed while she said that she let go of her husband's hand and moved towards her child instead.

"I honestly wish I could say I was lying; it hasn't exactly been the best discovery for me either."

"Okay, I'm tired of this now, tell them." James was beginning to feel awkward in this scene and

"Honey I didn't mean it, it just happened while I was out you have to believe me, there was no way I could have known she would get pregnant, I never did anything like that again, I promise."

"Please no, and the ending is that part true as well!?"

"Yes."

After hearing that the woman's happy life came crumbling down, she had always taken pride in her husband being an upright and just man, and now she finds out he had a kid he abandoned on the streets and had the mother killed all to protect his image. Monogamy was the norm in this world so hearing a noble had cheated on his wife and had a bastard child was a massive scandal if this got out they would be ruined.

"Please, I beg you not to tell anyone. We'll give you anything you want!" Although the woman was disgusted by her husband's actions, she still had to think of her, and her child's future so began to do damage control.

"I won't tell anyone; I'll leave that to you. Tell the kingdom that your husband cheated on you and had a kid he abandoned and killed the mother, you will be able to keep the estate and money and won't have to put up with a trash husband, if not then I have something for that."

After saying that James began to bounce a ball of fire between his hands, as long as it was between them he could maintain the ball of fire, he couldn't support it away from his body yet. But this was still enough to frighten them all.

Mages were a frightening existence to anyone who met them; they were on a level that ordinary people couldn't reach.

"I can't, no matter what he's done he's my husband. I can't just throw him to the guards, can I !?" Martins wife was struggling with a massive internal conflict, on the one hand, he had cheated on her and done such despicable things as a result, but on the other, he had also been a loving and dedicated husband for the last 13 years.

"I'll leave it up to you, don't forget to deliver those crystals." After saying that James quietly walked out feeling much better than when he walked in, at the very least the man's marriage was ruined, so he felt the knot in his gut loosen.

'Well, I should probably go and see the person from the royal family that invited me in, after all that was my excuse to come inside.'

James started heading to the big castle he could see in the middle of the city. Apparently, all of the royal family lived in it, so naturally, the man who invited him was there as well.

"Hello, I've been invited to come and see someone, his name is Raymont Chapman" James showed the guard at the gate the name on the paper, after the guard saw the paper he gave James an incredulous look, apparently the person who had invited James was somebody important, or at least not someone any 12-year-old should be meeting.

"Where did you get this from?" Clearly, the guards didn't believe this was meant for James at all, they probably thought it was accidentally given to him, or he stole it.

"I was given it by the guard at the gate of the inner district."

After hearing his response the guard sent someone into the castle, and a few minutes later they came running out telling them to let James through, he was then guided by the out of breath man to an archery range that was in one of the courtyards of the castle.

"James, it's a pleasure to meet you, I am Raymont Chapman, you may call me Raymont. Now tell me, where did you get this weapon" The man then pulled his hand forward as if he was plucking fruit from its tree only when he reached the peak a crossbow appeared in his hand.

"I made it, well no technically my blacksmiths and carpenters made it from my design."

"You were the one who made this design, I see. Is this why you made the patent office?"

"It's part of the reason, yes." James didn't want to give too much information to this man; he had a certain level of distrust for the people at the top after his repeated warnings from Fletcher.
