"Wait you mentioned businesses? What were they?"

"I opened a patent office and the dominators store. Also, I own a load of blacksmiths and carpenters, a few fabric workers and tailors as well, they're all set up in my artisan quarter."

"You own all of those?! That's amazing, you really have been busy haven't you. I truly don't know what to think about you anymore, I thought you were a perverted talent but this is beyond perverted, it's broken. Whatever, it is what it is, at least I got to meet you before you become a great figure in the future. And thank god I didn't mess with you at all."

The final sentence was muttered under his breath, but James still heard it and couldn't help having a small smile appear on his face.

"So this school, seeing as you can enrol me now do I need to do any entry exams or anything?"

"There are just some formalities, but with everything you've learnt so far you should have no problem with any of it, it's just entry-level knowledge of magic circuits and crystals. Everything can be learnt from the library but you've read all of that already I'm sure, or you wouldn't have awoken as a mage yet."

"If that's it then it's fine, one thing I did never ask is where is the school and what is it called?"

"The school is called Elanaid Academy, and it's about 30 lio north of the city, it's built on a mountainside facing the East, it truly is a magnificent view in the mornings." Joshua gave out a sigh of longing after he said this, it seemed he had seen this scene before and missed it dearly.

"Did you by chance attend the Academy, Sir?" James noticed Joshua's' scene of familiarity with the atmosphere of the academy, so he decided to ask on it.

"I attended for a total of 3 months before my first quarterly test, unfortunately back then I was massively overconfident having been told I was smart my whole life I felt that it would all come naturally to me. This attitude inevitably leads to me getting a terrible score on the test, so I was expelled from the school that same day. I really wish I could have the chance to go again; I really would give anything for it."

After saying this much Joshua closed his eyes and let out a long, sad sigh, it seemed he was reliving the scene of being expelled from school.

"I'm sorry for asking about such a sensitive subject; I will be sure to be more considerate in the future" James felt that he had touched on a subject that he wasn't close enough with Joshua to speak about, so he decided to apologise and end the talk there.

"Well young man, you better get ready because the entrance exams are in 3 days!"

"Okay, will you be coming with or should I head to the school with you?"

"Meet me at the gate of the city on the morning of the test, and you will get a carriage with the other potential students."

"How many of us are there just out of interest?"

"There are six of you going, three girls and two other boys then yourself."

"I see, are they all children of nobles or are any of them like me?"

"I don't think there could be any others like you, to be honest, James, if there were any others like you I would be deathly afraid because this wouldn't be the world I grew up in. You really are an anomaly. But yes they are all the children of nobles but don't write them off just because of that."

"You know what I meant; I was just interested in who else was coming, as for them being nobles children as long as they don't act superior to me just because of their parent's achievements then I will be fine with them. I may even be able to make some friends out of it." James knew full well that he had no interest in these nobles kids, but he couldn't really explain his reasoning to Joshua, so he decided to just lie for the most natural way out.

"Well I best get going, I have some things I need to do right now, I hope I can see you again in the future!" After saying his part, James took his leave with a letter written by Joshua recommending him to become a member of Elanaid Academy.

With Joshua favouring a star pupil like James there was every chance that this action could affect his status in the Academy and make him able to visit the Academy; at least to see the beautiful sunset whenever he wanted to.

James decided to head back to his house and absorb the air crystal he had gained from the Noble Chapman.

After telling his guards to maintain a perimeter that no-one was allowed to enter, James took his spirit metal wire and prepared to absorb another power after everything was ready, he began the absorption of the energy.

After James began, he felt a searing pain as his Energy pool started to expand to accommodate the new power. After focusing his attention on his energy pool, he sensed it now had two very distinct sides one that was like a furnace and another that was cool like a gentle breeze was flowing over him.

After waiting for his new power to settle James found that his power of fire was suppressing his power of air and this was leading to his energy pool being unstable and not maintaining a balance between the two powers.

James found that the more he practised control with his power of Air, he felt the suppression from the power of fire lessen. Alternatively, he could drain his energy of Fire to the same effect.
