The more he thought, the more intense his heart felt, making him clenched and face paled. Seeing his body tensed, Yu Sha got worried. "Ar.. are you okay? Is your heart hurting again?" She scooted aside and got off the table. "Here, go lay down on the bed."
Hue Chi wanted to decline but seeing she was very worried, he complied and allowed her to assist him to the bed.
Once he laid down on the bed, he puts his hand over his eyes so he wouldn't see her worrisome state. She's reckless, hotheaded, unreasonable at times, simple-minded but she is kind and caring. She has constantly challenged him, quick to be mad at him, but quick to get happy.
"Is there a doctor here? Should I go get someone to come look at you?" Yu Sha asked worriedly. She stood up about to leave only to be held on the hand by Hue chi.
"I'm okay." He spoke softly.
"Are you sure? You don't look good."
"I'm sure. I know myself best."
Hue Chi laid on the bed connecting the puzzles of his dreams. The image of him piercing right through her kept playing on repeat while the sensations of stabbing her flesh burns his hand like it just happened yesterday.
Piece by piece, the puzzles slowly fall into place. Although he does not recall everything, what he remembers was enough for him to know what stories they had together. To what he understood from experience, not everything from the past comes to him all at once. Fragments of the past comes here and there disorderly and at different times. Each time after the fragments comes, he puts the information together to solve the messages himself.
"Yu Sha..." He called out in a soft low tone.
"Yes! What can I do?" She asked attentively and waited for Hue Chi to talk.
Still covering his eyes with his arm, he waited for some times before proceeding. "I'm sorry if I have done anything to wrong you, or offended you." What he truly wanted to say was, I'm sorry for hurting you repeatedly. I'm sorry, I couldn't protect you although I was given many chances to correct my past mistakes.
Yu Sha remembered from somewhere that people are most honest before taking the last breath. Sensing how honest he is and seeing that he's sick, freaked her out. She is not used to this side of him. What if he really is sick? Although he annoyed her, she never wished for him to be in this state and so she said, "I'm going to find help." Yu Sha freed her wrist from his hold, stood up and turn around to leave.
Hue Chi removed his arms and turned to look at her back and called, "I'm okay. I'm in great health."
She paused and turned back to inspect his condition. Hue Chi sat up and patted for her to have a seat. She looked unconvinced but slowly inched closer and sat down next to him.
"Are you really okay?"
"Mm..."
She sighed a breath of relief after he confirmed.
"Sorry to worry you."
"Mm.. I was worried, I thought you were about to die."
"Why?" He asked. Although he was happy that she genuinely was worried, he also felt terrible giving her the scare.
"Because you were so honest, apologizing to me so sincerely."
"That's the reason?" He asked.
"Of course, people are most honest right before their last breath." She explained her reasoning.
"Hahaha.. I am a sincere man through and through. Youve been around me many times now and you never see my goodness?" Hue Chi questioned.
Yu Sha didn't want to answer the question, afraid her answer might provoke him. She turned around and looked away to ignore him.
"You never??" He asked icily.
"Tsch..." She turned around to glare at him, "You, you." She was still upset about the times he saw her naked after they left the hospital and then earlier. He always gives her the wrong impressions, annoyed her with his remarks but now if she thinks about it, if he really wanted to take advantage of her, he would've done so already. He kept his part of the bargain and treated her well, at least that is how she felt deep down that he is nicer than how he acts at times.
She leaned in closer, "You're really not together with that woman last time?" She was referring to Kao Sheng.
"Mm.."
"Never?"
"Never have. You want to be on the candidate list too?"
