[Saint Doll] Arc 4 Chapter 32 – Training and Encounter
Around the same time.
Shin and his group had moved into the training ground and are stretching their body, his class will have a lesson about body reinforcement today. As a Blessed, and especially as an Adventurer, it’s one of the most fundamental and also the most important training that they must do.

When their instructor clapped, everyone stopped moving and begun to listen.

The instructor appointed someone named Sebas, the oldest one from the group of three who doesn’t have any experience as adventurer.
“In your introduction letter, it was written that you possessed powerful body reinforcement, correct?”
“I’m not sure, but that’s what I heard when I was picked up”
“That’s fine. Can you break this pillar by kicking it?”
The instructor then pointed at a steel pillar that was half embedded in the ground. Even though the pillar is pretty distorted already, it’s still thicker than Shin’s thigh, and he understood from the first glance that it would be impossible.
“I think I can manage somehow”
“Okay, try it”
However Sebas nodded after only thinking for a short while, and then he moved forward following the instructor’s direction. After taking a deep breath and holding it for around 10 seconds, he knocked the pillar with a powerful frontal kick.
“FUUuuuuu……Haaah!!!”
After a huge and somewhat unbelievable thunk sound, the steel pillar was bent. Even though it ‘only’ ended up with a bend, the sharp angle on the pillar’s point of impact made it obvious that there was tremendous force behind the kick.
“(If this was a contest of strength, it won’t be much of a match will it)”
Perhaps the level of their body reinforcement is differing by the digit. While analyzing the result, Shin also wondered about where Gain would end up at. Gain is comparable to an Ogre even without his [Strong Arm], and Shin can only make a bitter smile when he compared his basic strength to either of them. At the same time, Shin also understood what the instructor is trying to do. He had chosen Sebas because he’s going to give him the real test after this.

Sebas then tried to activate his body reinforcement while still lying down on the ground. He planned to kick the wooden stick in one jump, but then the feet that he used to make the leap was easily swept away and he fell down on his face flat. After repeating these actions for several times, the raggedly breathing Sebas is now lying immovable on the ground while the instructor is dusting his hand.
“This is what I was trying to say. What do you understand from this Frey?”
“Err, the instructor’s skill is amazing?”
“What about you Bruno?”
“Besides paying attention to where you should put your strength in, I can’t say much else”
“Then how about Shin who is in active duty?”
“The speed of his body reinforcement is slow, your opponent will be able to interfere with you easily if they saw your activation. Also his control seems to be a bit weak. If there’s obstruction in his path, he will probably end up harming himself”

After saying that in separate wording, the instructor looked over everyone. After some moment where no one is asking anything in particular, he opened his mouth again to proceed with his explanation, but before he managed to do that, with a *pop*, Fea appeared on top of Shin’s head.
“Yes yes!!”
“Ah—, Erm, Fea-kun was it. You have a question?”
“Yes!!, I haven’t had any breakfast yet, may I eat first?”
As everyone’s eyes focused on Fea who had asked such question from the bottom of her lung, everyone made a tsukkomi “Not that kind of question!” from the bottom of their lung too.
“Do as you please. Shin, make sure to let your pe—……excuse me, the lady from Fairy race eat her breakfast properly”

“Then I will start my explanation”
As the instructor left Shin to deal with the headache inducing situation himself, he begun to progress with the lesson since no real question was asked. In such situation, Shin thought that he shouldn’t make any excuses, but even if he wanted to, there’s no way he can say “the reason for why they haven’t eaten any breakfast”

Shin sighed and caught the thrown Kuru fruit between his index and middle finger, he crushed the shell as it is and then throw the fruit inside back to Fea. While watching Fea who is stuffing her cheeks deliciously with the fruit, Shin smiled as he noticed how he had gotten really used to this and break the next Kuru fruit thrown at him.
“—In short, those are the most common training method that you can do”
“Since it’s the most common, does it means there’s another method too?”
“Yes, for example there’s the famous waterfall method to train your spirit, but that’s not really efficient. Besides that, there’s also a method with the worst learning rate where if you managed to do it, then you won’t need to do any more training. You need to use your hand to break the shell of Kuru fruit without crushing its inside, this method is pretty unreasona……ble?”
“Kuru fruit is that one with unusually hard shells right? ……hm?”
“It might be easy if you use tools, but it sounds impossible to not break the inside when you use your hand……eh?”

Then while staring at Fea who is stuffing her cheeks deliciously with it, Shin poured the crushed shell into a leather pouch.

“Let’s see, those who had graduated from here once and those who judged that they don’t need any more training, and also Shin, you guys just observe for the time being. The rest will start their training immediately…… If you want to challenge that, do so on your own time.
The instructor ended his explanation while gesturing his eye toward Shin’s direction. Even thought Shin isn’t convinced of it, he was judged to have sufficient mastery of body reinforcement by the instructor.

Shin then moved his gaze toward Fea who is rolled on the ground with her belly inflated to a visible level, and he seriously thought that he need to make a plan for her diet.

“Please calm down Mado-sensei”
The man called Mado is shouting while hitting a box-like machine on his side that most likely is a magical tool. There’s a handle attached on the instrument so that it can be carried with both hands, and also a Magic Stone on the top. Then on the side that seems to be its front, there’s a pointy object attached to the body.
“(Is that, a pilebunker?)”
“If they have this thing, even Adventurers will be able to hurt a Super class monster!”
While Shin is analyzing his impression, Mado who had gotten heated up is hitting the machine again and making a -bang- -bang- sound. However the man in front of him is pushing up his glasses calmly.
“We can just use Artificial God to handle a Super class. Or is sensei planning to let people charge a Super class monster while carrying this thing where you need to use body reinforcement just to lift it?”
“But, but this thing’s destructive power is enormous!”
“However you need a high class Magic Stone to perform a single attack right? How many of those are you going to use just to defeat one Super class?”
“But, but this is a man’s romance!!”

Mado yelled those tsukkomi worthy remark from the bottom of his heart while kneeling on the ground.

The one who is famous for his tool” , and somehow, that short remark is enough to gave the people in this spot a look of understanding in their face and make them walk away while laughing.

Except for Shin, who is watching the back of those two with a very serious look on his face.
