Samantha couldn't believe her fate. She was actually excited for tonight thinking that she'll race as a distraction. But how could she have known that the man she wanted to get away from is the same man that she was looking forward to as a 'distraction'. How ironic is that?
It looked like Daniel really had her investigated; and he even dared to race with her. 'Has he already found out that I really didn't lose my memories? That's not possible though.'
Samantha got so annoyed, she grabbed Daniel's hand and dragged him away from the crowd until they reached a dimmed lamp post near the bleachers.
Daniel still had a grin on his face when Samantha turned to look at him.
"What are you smiling about? Is this fun to you?"
He glanced at his hand which Samantha was still holding and then he looked at her again, "Did you just bring me here to hold my hand or were you planning to make out?"
Realizing that they were in a spot where young people would obviously choose to make out, Samantha blushed, looked at their hands and she immediately let go.
"Stop joking around. Why are you doing this?"
"What do you mean? You were the one who said that I'd have to win a challenge and only then you would agree to give me your time."
Samantha just stared at him cautiously, 'What is this man thinking?'
"You like car racing and you're actually good at it. This is a perfect challenge, isn't it?"
From the starting line, Charlie waved his hand and called Samantha. "Hey, Kira! Are we starting or not? Everybody's waiting."
Samantha turned her head, "Coming, Charlie.", she answered.
"So? How about it? …Kira?", Daniel asked and Samantha found him vexatious for calling her like that.
"Don't you dare hold back and let me win. You better do your best."
He smiled, "Oh I wouldn't dare.", Daniel leaned closer, "Have you forgotten already? I'm here to win, darling.", he spoke slowly before he walked away leaving Samantha bothered.
She glared at his manly back and scoffed. Samantha walked past him hastily and went to her car. As soon as she got near, the welcome lights of her Bugatti Chiron lit up announcing her arrival. Right after she sat down, she immediately turned the engine on looking very impatient and the crowd cheered wildly when they heard it roar.
Daniel, on the other hand, didn't go to his car right away, instead, he walked towards Samantha's and opened the car door. She looked very puzzled as to why he came over, "What?"
Daniel bent down to her level, "Baby… always make sure… safety first.", he spoke while he buckled Samantha's seatbelt; his body and arms crossing in front of her making her nervous. 'You!' , she sneered in her thoughts.
Although he got excited about their upcoming match, he was more concerned for her safety. "Samantha, I know you want to win but I hope you keep in mind not to overdo it and put yourself in danger. Be careful."
No wonder the challenger chose the track; to avoid any unexpected hazards out on the road.
Samantha's heart fluttered after Daniel's reminder. He headed towards his car and turned it on. At the same time, Quinn turned the speakers on and Muse singing Supermassive Black Hole was heard making everyone feel very excited by the supercars' race that's about to commence in front of them.
Charlie checked all safety, windows and lights then reminded them that the race is going to be only 1 lap around the 4km circuit. When both of them were ready, the flag appeared and as soon as it was waved, Daniel and Samantha stepped on the gas.
The two cars surged forward but Samantha's Bugatti was a tad bit faster when they started; her lips curled into a smile thinking that she's already going to win.
"So long, Daniel." , she muttered.
They have just passed the 2nd kilometer when suddenly, Daniel was already catching up with Samantha. She clenched her teeth as she was already running at 200mph but Daniel is already beside her. She glanced at him and saw him smiling; it made her very annoyed. She increased her speed once more and the car advanced ahead of Daniel's. But it only lasted for several seconds when Daniel stepped on his gas pedal and finally overtaking Samantha.
"Honey, you don't think that I'm really going to let you win, do you? You clearly don't know who I am.", Daniel whispered under his breath, he can already imagine Samantha's irritated face and it tickled his evil side.
They were already approaching the finish line and Daniel accelerated once more leaving Samantha behind. And in just a few seconds, he has already won the race.
Once he had managed to stop the car, he stepped out cockily and smirked when Samantha arrived a few seconds later. The crowd cheered and howled at Daniel's victory.
"Damn it.", Samantha complained.
Daniel opened his arms and boasted, "I won."
Samantha walked towards him angrily and glared at him.
"Now are you going to give me your time?", Daniel said.
Samantha bit her lip, "No. We're not done yet. You have to pass all three. You chose this race, I have to choose the other 2."
Daniel expected Samantha to ask more challenges before really agreeing to sit down and talk with him. He sighed, "Fine."
Samantha brushed past Daniel with a sour face and Daniel found it amusing, "Oh, come on sweetie don't be such a sore loser."
Samantha rolled her eyes and walked away faster. Quinn caught up with Samantha with a smile on her face.
"You lost to a hottie this time, Kira. And looks like he has a thing for you too.", Quinn teased but Samantha just kept quiet as she looked towards Daniel who was being surrounded by mostly women fawning over him. Actually, they were trying to surround him but they couldn't go near as Daniel gave off a vibe that no one can get close to.
Charlie took everyone's attention and announced, "Since it's my birthday today, I'm inviting everyone to my resort. I'll see you all soon.", the crowed screamed with glee as they got to their own cars and followed Charlie out.
Daniel watched as Samantha went back to her car. He stepped in front of her and gave her a smile, "You're not still mad, are you?"
Samantha wasn't really mad, she was more... annoyed. She had tried very hard to forget about Daniel but with just his presence, she's already wavering. How can she still keep up with it?
"No."
Daniel reached and held her hand, "Samantha..."
Samantha missed his touch, she has been longing for him too. But she has to try and be brave enough to let go of the person she isn't worthy of. She pulled her hand gently, "I'm going to Charlie's. You can come if you want, I don't really care."
She drove off as soon as she started her engines and Daniel followed behind. He's very hopeful to be able to get Samantha back. Whatever it takes, he'll do it.
Luxurious fast cars lined up at the entrance of Charlie's resort. It was closed for the day to celebrate his birthday with friends and family.
Charlie became a good friend to Samantha, he helped her when she arrived in Country D. Back then when Charlie and Quinn's group spotted her car, they got to know each other and Charlie felt that Samantha was in a rough situation. How is a lady who seemed to have run away from home going to survive in another country? Although she didn't look like someone who wasn't short of money, what with her expensive car and all but as a father of a little girl, Charlie couldn't help himself. 'What if my own daughter runs away from home?', he shuddered at the thought. So ever since then, he and his wife were really kind towards Samantha. They helped her find the beach villa that she wanted, and taught her things she needed to learn about living in the country.
That's why even though Samantha was in a foreign place, she found very kind people who helped her get through her difficult times. They didn't ask what she was running away from, everyone has secrets. They respected her and she was thankful that they didn't judge her.
The resort was amazing, there were lots of food, drinks, and good music. The party was held at the beachfront and a lot of the guests were already in their swimming attire when they arrived.
Samantha and Quinn were talking at the bar when Daniel spotted them and Samantha noticed his gaze. When she looked at him, he gave her a smile and waved his hand. Lucas who was beside Daniel called Charlie over, "Hey Charlie, over here."
Charlie walked towards the two men and Lucas spoke, "So? What do you think? Swift right here didn't disappoint huh?"
"You were indeed right, it's a pleasure to meet you, Swift. I've heard stories about you from 6 years ago, your friend Lucas here couldn't shut up about it."
Daniel gave a polite smile as he shook hands with Charlie, "Oh I don't go by that name anymore for years now.", he said as he chuckled.
