"Zunnie must think that because she has money, she's better than me." Talia laughed unamused by her.
"Talia, this has nothing to do with money or my status. We both love the same man and he married me. I hope after tonight we can draw the line and move on. I would hate for Alex to lose his childhood friend simply because of your resentment towards me. Let's be friends; hmm?" Zunnie extended her arm to guarantee the truce.
Talia frowned and ignored the extended arm.
"Firstly, don't call me Talia, we're not chums. Do you think that telling me this will push me to stop? I am the right one for Alex. Who knows if you did not indoctrinate him, you're a psychologist after all. Sooner or later he will grasp that you are nothing but a fake bitch and come running to me; his childhood friend. Enjoy him while you can because when I take him, he won't even remember how you taste in bed."
Zunnie was aware of how angry Talia was becoming. Despite noticing Talia's angry eyes glaring at her, she needed to reiterate once more to Talia that she was being delusional. Thinking Alex would break off their marriage was absurd. Alex loved her, and she knew that. However, the woman standing next to her was oblivious to that fact.
Having said what she came to say, Zunnie did not want to keep chatting. Before she walked away, she had to remind Natalia Omalu again;
"You're rather confident…but so am I. The love I have for my husband means more to him than the infatuation of an obsessed childhood friend, who won't accept he has a wife and is madly in love with her; Did you not hear? He loves me so much that he can't help himself anymore. He said he wanted everyone to know I'm his mine. Enjoy the ball, I heard that the rum punch is really thirst quenching."
After speaking Natalia, Zunnie did not want to converse with her anymore. Just as she was about to turn around and walk away, Natalia grabbed her wrist.
She raised her hand to slap Zunnie across the face, but a strong hand held her wrist.
"Now, now, that's totally uncalled for Talia," Carson who had been standing now far off had been watching them, came to intervene.
Zunnie was in shock and had no idea that Talia was about to slap her until she heard Carson's voice.
"Please forgive, I could not let her slap your beautiful face. You can head back I'll calm her down."
"Ah, thank you, Mr. Mau...umm Carson."
"Don't mention it, but you do owe me lunch."
Zunnie flashed him a genuine smile and disappeared into the crowd in search of her husband.
