During the drive Carah learned that the reason for the dinner was to introduce Carah to Steve and for Stella to asked forgiveness.

Steve was such a gentle person that anyone can't find fault in him.

When they arrived home , he insisted to accompany her saying that it's an opportunity to say hello to her mother. She concede since she cannot hide the truth forever.

"Hello Carlotta? so nice to see you."

"Hi Steve! long time no see. How has it been?"

"I just pop by and say hello, by the way everything OK?

" Well Lexie, Carah's daughter got upset with the news going with her parents." mother explained she thought that Steve already knew."

"Carah has a child?" he creases his brows bewildered. Carah shot a look to her mother but it was too late. She just shrugs her shoulders and walked away.

She went immediately to Lexie's room and talk to her.

"Princess, what wrong?"

"Mama, they say bad things about you!"

"You know baby, people talk, but that doesn't mean that what they say is correct." she slowly and tenderly.

"But mama ... is it true that my Dada leave us because....you..." she was unable to finish in between sobs.

"Hush baby... everything will be alright I promise... after all this you will see your father."

"promise?"

"I promise." she embraces her daughter, rock her and hum a lullaby until she fall asleep.

When she left the room , she saw her mother and Steve deep in conversation. When her mother saw her she invited her to join in and excuse herself to make some tea.

Steve breaks the silence by asking."Is she Zander's!"

"Of course."

"Does he knows?" he asked

"No, I was waiting for him to regain his memory, I can't gamble, I don't want my daughter to be rejected."

"Carah his memory had been regain completely a year ago, that's the reason why he returned here to set the record straight and to be reunited with you." Steve said bewildered.

"I'm sorry Steve, I suspected it all along, and I played along with him but the truth is I am just waiting for him to to come out of his deception , for me to file a divorce and buy time to prepare for Lexie."

"What?" incredulously Steve hissed. "Were you planning to do it this way?

" Yes! there was nothing between us except Lexie. I intend to introduce him to Lexie after his so called " amnesia" claim , if he rejects her, well and good at least I did my part, but if not then I just continue and raise my child there will be bumps here and there, but we will survive. She is very intelligent child she will understand even if it takes time." she explained.

"Carah did you know that there was nothing on his mind since he recovered but to be reunited with you? "

"He has a very odd way of showing it."

"Maybe he have his reasons." she contemplated on this and fell silent for a while.

"Maybe, but can you keep it a secret until I can break it gently to Lexie. You see we have someone to act as her father who called once in a while and sent gifts every special occasions."

"You did what?... well at least you didn't tell her that her father is dead." Steve showed disgust with the thought.

"I could never do that."

"Well, well,,, my intention in coming was just to get in touch with your Mom, I never thought I'd stumble to this great revelation."

"Sorry about that, I guess I'll just wait for Zander to come out of his I got amnesia thing."

"Hmm." he grunts.

The next day Carah was busy assessing her cases when she got a call from Steve asking her to meet him in a cafe near her office.

"So what's up?" she greeted when she met him at the cafeteria.

"Uhmm,,, I was thinking about this last night. to tell or not to tell." he begin.

"Is this have to do with Lexie?"she asked pensively.

"Totally different but somewhat can be related." her forehead creases in confusion.

"I don't know where to start...I somewhat felt responsible for your father's death." she raised her eyebrows. "You know Carah, before your father met that accident, he was working on a case for months and when he finally got closer or maybe stumbles on the truth he met that fatal accident. I have reasons to believe that your father's dead is not accidental."

"What! How? Why?.
