The day for Kaoru to prove himself has come. The place was of course still the training ground in there kingdom. It was situated at the left side of the castle, where the knight's ground were closest.
'It didn't have that much difference from ours. I guess this is the normal design?' Kaoru asked himself.
Though he had been going around the kingdom for the past months, he rarely comes to the training ground. He would only go to where the meeting of the captains and generals were.
It was still the same, a flat ground in the middle, surrounded by the spectator stand. There are four exit and entry points in the ground, and four at the top.
Slowly the whole place became packed, after all he had posted his challenge in the public bulletin so most of the people have come, to see the adventurer take up the challenge.
Some are curious some are hoping because even after Tazuna became the chief, he did so little for the people only doing his best in being a leader that points what they have to do, not doing the work himself.
But Kaoru who came had shown his sincerity by helping out in every little thing that he can do. At first they thought that it was all an act, but he never stopped and kept thinking of ways to improve their livelihood.
Most of them felt sad when he sent Akira away. They've seen her kindness and sincerity as well, especially when it comes to medicine and even helping out in the hospital. So they wanted him to get her back.
Kaoru just stood there waiting for his opponents, he didn't bother asking Raven where he would be staying as he knows that Raven would surely watch from an angle that could see everything.
People started whispering as well, when did Kaoru had a sword? Have anyone seen him weild it? Questions kept coming one after another as they waited for the challenge to start.
Soon the higher ups came in and with them was Arisa, she looked at Kaoru before her eyes went to his sword, her thin brows were furrowed upon seeing this. She had been with him atleast until two days ago but not once did she saw him weild a sword.
She then looked worriedly at her father who assured her using his eyes. He was prepared to see him holding one, after all they just came out from the war, surely Kaoru didn't sit in the side and just watched.
He was so sure of his thoughts that he never even think that Kaoru had indeed barely touched the sword during the war for he was in the support group.
As they try to measure him up, Kaoru was just staring at the sword in his hand.
'I never thought he brought this with him. But isn't he a bit too much? Giving it to me at the last minute?'
This sword was actually his partner from the past. It seems that Akihiro had kept it for him all these years. And when Raven was tasked to come here, he was also tasked to give it to him.
Kaoru's lips twitched upon remembering Raven's words, 'I forgot that I had it with me.'
How can he forget when he was always in hiding? Surely he placed it within the house, but he actually didn't bother giving it to him instantly?
But he really can't do anything about it now, what's done was done.
"I'm just glad it still felt like it belonged," he then muttered as he held the hilt tighter before looking up at his opponents.
They were deciding who would go first and all.
"Hey why don't we go this way, I'll fight against the captains in one go and then three generals in every battle, so that would be two battles, and the final which is the fourth one with the chief? Wouldn't that be easier?" he called out.
People looked at him incredulously, what the hell is he doing. Is he asking for death?
Raven who was at the top most had a playful smile on his lips, "Crazy as always."
He was not sitting among the people but instead in a corner where no one would pay attention to. Akihiro have tasked him to remain in the shadows as much as possible after all.
He even went to Dai to ask him how he can stay in the shadows without anyone truly realizing that he was there. And the answer was simple, in every place there are always some spots where people's attention would never go to.
Just like when a popular person is present the less popular one wouldn't be noticed.
Seeing Kaoru's confident attitude, even those who were not in favor of Tazuna were ticked off. Especially the captains who instantly went up not waiting for orders. Seeing that it was already beginning, they could only accept Kaoru's arrangements.
The six captains circled around him, Kaoru held his sword in both hands as he turned serious.
Indeed his arrangement is ridiculous but if he fought all of them, one at a time, it would be his energy that would be depleted.
Plus it is much more time consuming for that, as much as possible he wanted to end this on this same day. Then he can have the preliminary procedures of being the king before returning to Aurora to pursue Akira.
The one from behind him was the first to attack and hearing his movement, Kaoru finally reined in his wondering thoughts. He crouch down before he spin kicked that person.
His movements might seem sloppy because of his wondering thoughts but the two moves were executed just as that person was one step away from him.
The sudden kick instantly caused this man to fall down, without waiting for anyone to react, Kaoru raised his sword and heavily slammed it beside that person's head.
Within five seconds, one captain has fainted. The captains planned on dealing with him as a group and that person was just the start, who would have thought that before the second person could move, the first one was already down.
Kaoru stood up properly, he then signalled the others using his hand. Provoking them to come at him if they dare.
Raven, on the other hand, was enjoying the show. But at the same time bis eyes never left the bout going on below, he was imprinting everything in his mind. Every movement, every attack, every decisive blow that Kaoru releases towards his opponents.

"If there comes a time that you could witness it, do observe carefully and tell me. Just how good he is, once he uses his sword."
Under the night sky, Raven and Eureka have just finished one of their many sparrings. Sitting down on the ground and enjoying the silent night accompanied by the soft passing of the wind.
"Was Ao an amazing swords man?" Raven asked upon hearing Eureka's request.
Eureka nodded, she was not smiling but her tone held admiration and pride, "He was the most amazing swordsmaster I ever met. He was the one who trained me after all."
Raven looked at her side profile, this time was a time where Eureka stopped running away. Her eyes is now showing the emotions she's feeling. And Raven could see how happy she looks as she describe Ao.
"I know that Kaoru was an amazing one as well, just by using a stick he could spar with me. So I checked his past and found out so many things."
She then looked down at her hands, "You can never predict anything but because of that, I want him to pick it up again. When he does and you are there, do accept my request of observing him carefully."
She looked at him as she asked. Raven shrugged and accepted her simple request.

Kaoru just parried another attack coming from his side, despite facing a good number of opponents he wasn't flustered at all but instead he looks like he is enjoying himself very much.
There are only four left, another was already unconscious, the one who first went down woke up and slowly made his way from the battle ground. Of course, despite them fighting seriously they still know that there are unconscious people around them.

He parried another from the front and used it as support to push himself and kick the one coming from his side. He then continued and jumped in the air, before twisting his body as he land on the ground, without any pause he dashed forward knowing full well that multiple attacks are coming behind him.
Just as he reached the edge, he used the wall to jump back and attack the captain closest to him. This jump gave him a force that he used to push back his enemy using his sword.
The captain closest to him could only put his sword forward to defend, but the strength still pushed him back and he was sent flying at the back of his companions. Kaoru didn't stop as just as he landed, he was already in front of another and using the hilt of his sword he attacked that person in the stomach.
He pushed this captain down by using his shoulder as a spring board in order to jump behind him and in front of another captain.
Raven had a smile on his face, "No wasted movement at all. It feels like I am watching her instead. The only difference was that Kaoru was using heavy attack while Eureka uses her speed and agility."
