Chapter 23: The Stars (1)

Lu Yin had no idea how wide the range of Yatta’s personal terminal was. He only knew that it should be enough to cover a radius of ten kilometers.

He followed the direction as indicated by the terminal. The distance between Lu Yin and the station widened gradually.

With the evident departure of the long-haired zombie, the corpse tides subsided and returned to its aimless wander, causing Xu San and the rest to sigh in relief.

Lu Yin meandered into the barren greenlands. Occasionally, green eyeballs popped out and disappeared as fast as it came.

As he trotted in the grass, he’d occasionally glance a look at the personal terminal “indicating” the long-haired zombie’s location. If he didn’t deal with them now, the Punishment Battalion would be put in great danger. An intelligent corpse, the Zombie King, could bring disaster to Jinling.

Kacha… Kacha… Kacha…

Lu Yin’s ears perked up and followed the source of the sound. He was brought at the edge of the ditch. It was flashing dark red as misty clouds drifted in the sky. Then, an eerie sound accompanied the chilly air.

Rooooaaaaaar!!

A thunderous roar drummed loudly. The Zombie King leaped high into the air. It opened its claws and reached out towards Lu Yin. Its arms was a darkened red and released a sort of scorching aura.

Lu Yin dodged in surprise. The grass was torn apart by the Zombie King’s attack. At the same time, a burnt smell permeated his nose.

In the next moment, several fire crystals fell from the Zombie King’s body and touched the grass.

Fire lit up the barren land.

Lu Yin used his Swift Steps and circled behind the Zombie King. He pulled out the iron rod stuck on the Zombie King’s back and fiercely stabbed the iron rod into its head.

The Zombie King stood unmoving, eyes in shock. Its body trembled and slowly fell to the ground. Its flesh had a dark red color as flames began engulfing the Zombie King from the inside.

Lu Yin didn’t think the Zombie King was able to devour all kinds of energy crystals to evolve. If humans wanted to obtain a talent, but chances of it happening were one in a million, what of a Zombie King? Lu Yin was confused.

Soon, the Zombie King was burnt to dust. The flames near its surroundings were extinguished.

Lu Yin walked to the place where the Zombie King swallowed the fire crystals. There was a hole there. Lu Yin turned on the light and looked at it with darkened eyes.

“This…? Fire crystal mine?” First, his eyes brimmed with shock but soon turned to one of excitement.

Energy crystals was a popular commodity in the universe. Whether it be a pure star power crystal, fire crystal, water crystal, or any other natural energy crystals, they were all valuable. He’d not expect to stumble upon a fire crystal mine in the middle of a barren wasteland. But no matter what, it was a treasure trove.

Lu Yin was giddy with excitement. Chasing a Zombie King, who knew it would yield to such harvest.

He then grabbed some fire crystals and covered the entrance of the cave. Then, he looked around carefully, confirming that none had discovered this place.

As Lu Yin left, a dark red color appeared beneath his feet. His brows raised as he pushed the dirt away only to see a scarlet vertical eye. It was no real eye, but a scarlet-like eye made of unique material.

He picked up the vertical eye and felt a sudden chill on his back. He quickly spun the vertical eye head and saw a cunning skull staring at him from the back.

The moment he saw the skull, Lu Yin’s scalp went numb. Subconsciously, his mind told him to throw the eye away, but he did not, and reluctantly put it inside the spatial ring.

Only after it was gone did he come back from his senses. His eyes were wide open with disbelief. Just what was that thing? Why was it here? It was an artificial product, surely. Had someone arrived here before? The thought of it sent a cold chill in his body. Lu Yin had undoubtedly picked up something extraordinary.

Breathing out a sigh of relief, Lu Yin quickly left.

When he returned to the station, he found the corpse tide was no longer to be seen. Many were slowly moving away to its next journey.

After a full hour passed did the corpse disperse completely.

There were many of the corpses piled outside the station and mutated rats that made the army lethargic.

“Brother Lu, where did you go?” Luo Yun immediately scolded Lu Yin upon seeing him.

“We found an intelligent Zombie King. He was the one that attracted the corpse tide,” Lu Yin said lightly.

“What? Are you for real?” Luo Yun was shocked.

Lu Yin nodded. “Report to the Punishment Saint immediately. The appearance of this King-leveled corpse means that the number of zombies are no longer limited to a mere walking corpse. Tonight, at least fifty of our men died under that Zombie King’s hands.”
