Africa, Kaipur Mountains, a territory 7000 kilometres big, was a mountain range that wasn’t too well known in Africa, yet definitely couldn’t be considered unknown. It was off the beaten track with barely anyone there all year round, and because of it’s desolation and the danger involved, mankind basically never step foot into that land.

“Overlord.”

Cape of Good Hope in Africa, near a location that connected to the Kaipur Mountains, Qi Mo looked at the well-equipped subordinates in front of him and pointed at the map, saying, “Split into two groups to search. Black Falcon will lead Group 1, White Falcon will lead Group 2. You will both go in from the east and west ends and head towards the piece of flat land in the middle. Choose your own men.”

As Chief Bunio had only provided a broad outline of the location, with the land included over a few hundred kilometres wide, and ores beings a matter that could only be searched for from a distance and couldn’t be dug up by hand, they could only resort to using the simplest of methods; sending people down to search with machinery.

Black Falcon who had rushed back from South-east Asia didn’t hesitate before nodding, while White Falcon side-eyed Li Xin, “We’ll leave the communications aspect to you. You cannot let any problems appear.”

Seeing that only Black Falcon and White Falcon were going down to search, while her, Qi Mo and Li Hu were going to wait at the periphery to reconnoitre as well as be in charge of passing on information, looking at solemnity encompassing everyone’s faces, she also turned serious, “No problem.” This respect was her forte, and she could guarantee them that.

Qi Mo nodded, asking sternly, “Are the preparations complete?”

“Completed,” Black Falcon and White Falcon answered simultaneously.

“Depart.”

Suddenly, the aircrafts took off to the skies, flying towards Kaipur Mountain.

“Where are we going?” Li Xin couldn’t help frowning slightly after seeing that Qi Mo was also flying towards the same direction.

While looking through military binoculars to observe the mountains below them, he coldly answered, “Towards the centre.”

Her lips twitched when she heard. She thought that they were going to observe at Cape of Good Hope, this far off place, but she had obviously underestimated the value of Technetium. Qi Mo was actually going to personally secure the the central area in this complicated territory. Li Xin stared at the white clouds outside the windows and shook her head. She couldn’t run away anymore, and blaming others was useless, the only thing she could do was to face it head on. Knowing that she couldn’t escape her current situation, she slowly calmed down and no longer felt fearful or perturbed. The fear that was supposed to come was useless anyway.

tofu↶( *`ω´ )Ψ – lowkey can we just take an ETERNITY to admire how Li Xin just abandons her thoughts and concentrates on getting the job done well even tho she’s already scared to death. She’s learning well from the falcons and the demon lord kakaka

In the air, the few planes split off, and looking at the black earth below her foot, her brows furrowed slightly. Glancing around, the towering trees not far off made ominous ’sha sha’ sounds when the wind blew, and the mountain range was bumpy and uneven. A small river ran through them, and it was so clear that one could see the bottom. Flowers bloomed, and from afar, it actually didn’t look horrifying, instead gave one an otherworldly feeling.

“Li Xin, don’t just stand there, come and help.” Li Hu saw Li Xin just looking around and couldn’t help shouting at her.

She turned around when she heard him, then was immediately shocked. She saw an ordinary looking plane open the holding space below the cabins, and, one after another, fully armed vehicles rolled out. The vehicles looked extremely odd, and in the place where tyres were originally supposed to be, were tyres that looked like tanks; they were completely made of metal. Trees felled wherever they went, and flora was smothered. No one could stand in its way.

While the other plane was unloading explosives. Looking at the thing that could only be carried by two people as well as the weapons that were quickly being assembled, Li Xin involuntarily touched her nose. As expected of arms merchants, all these things were used like they were the cheapest of cheap things. They had a ridiculously amount of them and were all so advanced. Everything made one speechless.

Taking a few steps to stand beside Li Hu, Li Xin hadn’t opened her mouth before Li Hu pointed at the three planes, saying, “All the communications equipment are inside, use them however you feel works best for you.” With White Falcon not here, Li Hu should have been the number one choice to be in charge of communications, however now that Li Xin was here, Li Hu directly made way for her. Who told Li Xin to be better than him.

From the corner of her eyes Li Xin saw that Qi Mo was currently standing at the highest elevation with his hands behind his back looking at the terrain and environment and touched her brows before quietly going off to do what she was supposed to do. If she wanted to return alive, wanted to find out Sui Xin’s location and see Sui Xin, then she had to at least keep her life safe and guarantee that she would be able to return from this place.

Aggressive tank-like vehicle crushed the surrounding vegetation as round after round of defences were set up. They surrounded the three planes, people, and vehicles in the center, with all communication instruments equipped in a vehicle that could automatically open and close. Everything was done in an orderly yet unusually aggressive manner.

“Li Xin, this is Black Falcon, are you receiving? Are you receiving?” She had just finished assembling the communication equipment when Black Falcon’s voice came through.

“Received.” Sitting in the communication vehicle, Li Xin’s face was calm as she replied. Thus was just a test run.

Black Falcon straightaway reported the his location’s environment and had just stopped when White Falcon’s communication alert rang. After the three-way communication started it wouldn’t be shut off, after all Chief Bunio had described it so treacherously, it was best for them to prepare for all outcomes.

“Are you done?” Qi Mo appeared and asked Li Xin and Li Hu.

Li Xin nodded silently, while Li Hu answered, “All parties are already prepared, the search vehicles are awaiting orders.”

Qi Mo nodded. “Start work.”

“Yes.” Li Hu made a sound of acknowledgement, and putting on a set of communication equipment, he gave the few tank-like vehicles a string of commands. The six tanks started off in six directions, and Li Xin finally found out that these vehicles were all specially modified to search for radioactive materials. It could be considered something like an energy detector.

All of the previously prepared work was completed. Li Hu walked over while holding an anti-radiation suit, saying to Qi Mo, “Overlord.”

Qi Mo glanced at it before saying lightly, “Give her a set.”

Li Hu’s brows raised as he looked at Li Xin. “There are no smaller sizes.” The original chemical team had no females, moreover, since they knew that Li Xin couldn’t be contaminated by radiation, they didn’t rush for another suit to be made. He was helpless when Qi Mo suddenly asked for one as he really didn’t have any suit that could fit Li Xin with him.

Qi Mo’s forehead scrunched when he heard, and Li Hu saw he hurriedly added, “I’ll go find the smallest one,” while walking away.

Li Xin looked up at the fiery sun shining down, then at the ridiculously thick anti-radiation suit, and finally at the communication equipment she already had on. No matter whether she could be contaminated by radiation or not, it would be best to have a suit like that to be completely safe. Although it would be warmer, her life was more important.

Time passed quickly. One day, two days, the reports from White Falcon and Black Falcon were that they hadn’t found anything, while there wasn’t any progress on Qi Mo’s side either. Within a few dozen kilometres, everywhere that the detection vehicles could go had already been searched, however there were no Technetium ores. Not even Titanium ores could be found.

Qi Mo frowned as he looked at the pictures transmitted through satellite systems. The middle of the mountain range was indeed a greyish colour, different from the black earth they were currently on. After a moment of silence, he decided, “Move forward.”

Li Hu instantly directed their men to push forward. As they had done a more thorough preparation, all of the equipment and munitions were on movable protective platform so they were easier to transport.

On the third day, the moment their group stopped on the greyish soil, all of the detection equipment on the tanks rang. Qi Mo and Li Hu’s foreheads faintly wrinkled, and listening to the string of reports coming in, Li Xin calmly said to Qi Mo, “Technetium ore.”

At the same moment Li Xin spoke, it was as if Black Falcon and White Falcon too spoke at the same time. They had found it, the radioactive Technetium core.

Li Xin glanced at the navigation system that showed distance, and between the three(bf wf and lx)of them there was a distance of more than forty kilometres. With such a big piece of land, Qi Mo had struck gold this time.

“Overlord, the technetium’s purity is over 90%.” As Li Hu held the newly received report, the look of shock and delight on his face could not be described with mere words.

“Surround this piece of land.” Qi Mo faced the greyish land before him as an icy glint flashed past his eyes. Li Xin immediately passed down Qi Mo’s orders.

Looking at the darkening skies, Qi Mo earnestly said, “Delimit a range tonight. Other than the people left behind to guard, everyone else must leave.” After all, there was too much radiation on this piece of land and one could not stay for long. All they had to know was the exact location and the perimeters and they could leave the rest to the more experienced professionals.

The moment Li Xin heard that they were leaving tomorrow, her commissures instantly curved upwards. She never thought that such a seemingly difficult mission could actually be completed so easily, and they could just return so relaxedly, how very nice…

Standing nearby was Li Hu, who after giving out the orders saw Li Xin’s spritely smile and could help teasing,” So cowardly.”

She giggled, “Not cowardly, is just that my life is more precious.”

Hearing her say so, Li Hu broke out laughing, ”Listening to your words, it’s as if we pulled you up a mountain of knives and down a sea of fire. No one wanted your life.”

Li Xin gave him a contemptuous look.  ”You sure?”

Li Hu laughed while shaking his head, “We’ve just encountered a tad few more situations lately. You’re feeling this way because your abilities aren’t that good. We don’t live every day fighting for our lives; those kind of days have already passed.”

Li Xin heard Li Hu say that and couldn’t help raising a brow, looking at Qi Mo who was watching the Technetium getting further tested. Such exciting days weren’t even considered the most dangerous times? Listening to Li Hu’s words, she really couldn’t imagine how Qi Mo‘s life was like in the past.

Before her thoughts could continue any further, Qi Mo, who felt Li Xin’s gaze on him turned around to see what was the matter. The latter instantly revealed a dazzling smile, saying, “Boss, I’m hungry.” The tension-filled past two days had caused her appetite to wane, so now after hearing that they were going back, she finally relaxed slightly and immediately felt hungry.

“Go eat by yourself.” Qi Mo glanced at her before bringing his focus back to the analysis and the data being sent over.

Hearing him say so, Li Xin smiled and shrugged her shoulders before jumping off the communication vehicle. The food was being stored in an even more protected space, with a specialised tank used to transport it. They treated it with even greater care especially after they’d entered into the radiation range because absolutely nothing could happen to the food. They couldn’t randomly eat or place it as they pleased.

Entering into the tank dedicated to storing food, Li Xin hadn’t even taken any out when from out of the corner of the eye that was angled towards a window, she noticed a black shadow quickly flash past a huge rock. There was nothing blocking her view, and the rock was a light greyish colour. Li Xin tensed when she realised what she saw before quickly standing up.

The food-dedicated tank was at the back of the encirclement, and at this moment the other tanks responsible for reconnaissance hadn’t returned so the field of vision from inside was fairly wide. She froze slightly but saw no more movement; it was as if the shadow she’d previously seen was so impossibly quick her vision had to have blurred. However Li Xin knew that her eyes wouldn’t be wrong, after all, how could her meticulously trained eyes have been mistaken. She immediately turned around and ran towards the car where Qi Mo and the others were.

“There’s something here.”  Leaping through the doorway she immediately opened her mouth to inform Qi Mo.

Seeing Qi Mo and Li Hu’s stern expressions as they observed for movement out of the ordinary however, she knew that they already knew.

“Stay alert.” Qi Mo observed the surrounding environment as he commanded emotionlessly.

Li Xin quickly sat in the communication seat, and as she was transmitting Qi Mo’s instructions to the other tanks, she was informing White Falcon and Black Falcon to tighten their defences.

The tanks that received the command immediately abandoned their current assignments and quickly returned, entering the ring of encirclement while staying at the outermost perimeters. All of the heavy weapons entered the scene, as they waited vigilantly.

“What is that thing? It’s so quick.” Li Hu’s face was black as he carefully scanned their surroundings. What his eyes caught just now didn’t seem human, but neither did it look like an animal; it looked kind of like a bear, and was tall and huge. However did a bear have that sort of lightning quick speed? No one would believe it.

“The aboriginals that Chief Bunio mentioned previously.” Li Xin quickly checked the surroundings as her lips twitched. As the signal in this place was especially bad, it was impossible to do reconnaissance, with the GPS also being practically useless. She knew that she couldn’t do it even if she wanted to and could only watch out just in case anything happened.

There was no movement, and as they were arming themselves, all that could be heard was the sound of wind rushing past the rocks. As the sky darkened, all the lights on the planes were turned on, lighting up this place so brightly it was as if it was daytime. No movement could stay hidden under the glare of this bright light.

“Overlord, overlord!” White Falcon’s voice suddenly came on, and in it was a graveness never heard before with a hint of anxiety.

Qi Mo immediately replied. “What happened?”

“My people here have been disappearing, and two tanks did not return. After the connection was cut off we were completely unable to contact them again. Overlord, you must be careful.”

Before White Falcon could finish, Black Falcon, voice also quickly came over, “Overlord, something’s happened.”

Qi Mo’s face instantly sank. “Calm down, did you see anything?”

“Human, its a human, moreover…” Before Black Falcon could finish his sentence, a few figures that looked neither human nor beast rushed towards the encirclement as quick as lightning, and in the same moment Li Xin saw it, Qi Mo pressed down the communicate button, ordering austerely, “Open fire.”

The arms at outermost encirclement instantly sent out a sound that split apart the silence of the night. As Chief Bunio had warned them previously, Qi Mo brought a few large weapons that had terrifying might as well as some smaller ones to use against these creatures. The shadow was directly torn to pieces under the barrage of bullets.

“What happened? Overlord, is it the same over there?” White Falcon heard the sounds coming from the communication device and his pitch instantly grew higher.

While at the same time, from Black Falcon’s side came fierce gunshots. Qi Mo’s face grew  ominously cold as he said, “Settle it yourselves. Handle it with caution.”

Black Falcon and White Falcon made a sound of acknowledgment. They had enough gunpowder and had a plane that could take off quickly with them, moreover they were key figures in the areas they managed, to await orders for each and every thing wasn’t efficient in this situation. It was best they made decisions on their own accordingly.

-tofu- since they’re smart and able enough to become key figures in the clan they should be able to settle this matter themselves.

Li Xin focused on the image of the outside being displayed on the screen. She saw the brightly lit scene turn peaceful in an instant, then immediately after a black shadow flashed passed the dark screen, pouncing towards the camera as quick as lightning, while the guns that had been firing nonstop all turned towards that target at the same time.

Li Xin looked at the dark shadows before her eyes that were rushing forward like ants, with one wave coming after the one before fell, and frowned slightly, “Don’t they know that it’ll be hard to retreat if they continue?”

“Never pity your enemy, or else the one on the losing end will be yourself.”  Li Hu coldly said, standing by the door with a heavy duty machine gun.

Before Li Xin could reply, the image suddenly changed and she stared in shock and silence when she saw what appeared.
