Before her mind could recover from her horrific discovery, Li Xin’s back was suddenly slapped hard, the slap sending her sprawling forward. The fiery sensation from her back made her suck in a breath of cold air as she gritted her teeth, swallowing the pain and turning around.

That severed arm man glared at her, pointing at the human thigh in front of her. That gesture seemed to be telling her to eat. Li Xin hurriedly shook her head, reaching out to hold something that looked like a coconut, pointing at it and indicating that she would eat this instead of that.

When the severed arm aboriginal saw Li Xin shake her head, he huffed coldly and took back the human thigh in front of her, starting to dig in with big bites. Li Xin lowered her head and slowly starting drinking from the opened coconut, her heart was already thumping hard, her sweat making her shirt completely wet with cold sweat.

Nobody spoke. When everyone finished eating, the severed arm aboriginal suddenly lifted Li Xin up by her neck and stood up, and the moment he did, cheers erupted from all around. When Li Xin looked up, she saw everybody giving the aboriginal behind her a thumbs up with an approving look in their eyes. Some even revealed envious expressions as they looked at him.

After the aboriginal holding her said something to the crowd, an aboriginal looking to be about 40 years old suddenly walked over. He pointed at her hand and legs, and after mumbling some gibberish, he slapped her face.

The moment they saw that slap, the originally silent aboriginals all started shouting and cheering again. Li Xin didn’t understand what they were trying to do and only felt that that slap had almost split her head open. Right before she was about to react, her body swayed, and she was lifted up by the severed arm man again as he walked outside.

Walking past a big rock sculpture and past a small stream, the further they went the lower the topography. The number of aboriginals she saw also decreased, and it seemed that he was bringing her to their holy water pool to bath. Li Xin memorised her surroundings and didn’t struggle because she had to take a life the moment she made a move, otherwise her secret weapon would loose its usefulness. Towards these already mutated humans, if she couldn’t deal a deadly blow in a single strike, then she had to continue waiting for her chance.

“Qi Mo, where are you?” Quietly talking through her earring, Li Xin knew that the aboriginal behind her didn’t understand her words, and would know even less about high-tech stuff. At the very most he would just think that she was talking to herself.

There was no sound. Nothing came back. Li Xin couldn’t help frowning slightly, yet still didn’t dare to change the channels because she wanted to avoid having the aboriginal notice that something was amiss. She could only quietly continue, “I’m now walking towards a low-lying area, one of them is with me, it’s a grassland here. I can see a stream, and we’re on the way to…” Unable to get a reply from Qi Mo, Li Xin could only continue reporting her location. If Li Hu was safe and sound, he would definitely be able to intercept this channel.

Li Xin was carried into a shallow cave. The moment she entered, her face turned green because saw that the entire cave was made of a greyish coloured material; everything was made of Technetium ore, the exact same ones that Qi Mo and the others dug out from the earth.

In the middle of the greyish Technetium cave was a 5 or 6 metres square big pool which’s water was so clear one could see the bottom of the pool. The pool had been dyed into a greyish colour by the ore and reflected light that shone on it, making the surface of the water refract rainbow coloured rays. It looked very pretty, as if it was encompassed in a rainbow radiance.

However, everything was, in Li Xin’s eyes, not some sacred or pretty place; it was a place where the trumpets of death were blowing loudly. No wonder that woman’s whole body would be covered in red spots. Bathing in a place where everything reeked of Technetium, wasn’t that basically seeking death? How was this holy water, this was basically saliva from Hades’ mouth, meant to take one’s life.

The aboriginal that had been holding Li Xin threw her on the ground then knelt facing the pool, again mumbling some gibberish that she didn’t understand. When Li Xin saw that she slowly moved backwards, but she still knew that she wasn’t as fast as this aboriginal, and her strength wasn’t even on the same level. However, in which aspect did modern day humankind trump over their ancestors? Brain operation. You have the brawn, I have the brain, in a death battle, the victor was still undecided.

The aboriginal faced the pool while saying a few words. When he turned around and saw Li Xin looking at him with a face of horror as she curled up into a ball, he immediately said something to her too. She didn’t understand anything. These aboriginals’ words were likely to not even be a language, and no one other than themselves understood them.

When the aboriginal saw that other than being terrified Li Xin didn’t have any reaction, his face immediately darkened. He stood up, walking towards her, and with a speed that allowed her to have neither the time nor chance to react, threw her into the pool.

The pool’s water wasn’t deep, and after being thrown in Li Xin was able to stand up before she could start drowning. Trying to not swallow any of the water in the pool, she stood up and breathed deeply, using her hands to wipe away the radioactive liquid on her face, but before she could open her eyes, she heard the sound of wind rushing past her ears and then the sound of water splashing everywhere. That aboriginal had also jumped in.

Li Xin secretly cried out in her heart and shivered slightly before retreating. Alas, that aboriginal’s hands were like lightning, reaching out and slashing her anti-radiation that had already been missing a piece into two before moving to throw it away.

Li Xin was shocked. Her hands quickly moved to stop his actions, however her opponent’s strength was simply too great. Yet the good thing was that this aboriginal was missing an arm and couldn’t just kill Li Xin either, so at this moment her clothes were just torn into strips that draped across her, barely covering her up. However, at least he didn’t manage to catch her

The aboriginal’s face sank when he saw her actions and cruelly kicked Li Xin to the side of the pool, with half of her body laying on the edge of the pool. When he saw that she was almost out of the pool, the aboriginal’s body flashed as he leaped towards Li Xin, who at this moment was already in so much pain she could barely move.

“No, scram!” Li Xin couldn’t help shouting loudly when she saw that aboriginal rush over so fiercely, her hand quickly dipping into the water as she did so.

His speed and strength was simply too valiant, and before Li Xin could get up, she was pressed down by that aboriginal, who was using his body to hold her down as his only hand grabbed her thigh and quickly lifted it high up preparing to brutally himself on her.

A sharp glimmer flickered across Li Xin’s eyes. She suddenly reached out and latched an arm around the aboriginal’s neck, the silk in her ring finger quickly shooting out. She used all her strength to smash downwards on the aboriginal’s neck and was so fast that he didn’t have the time to stop her.

The silk line sank in smoothly, but Li Xin didn’t have the time to think. And so, clasping her hands, she used all her strength to yank outward. She heard a ‘shhhss’ sound, and immediately after, a hot liquid squirted all over her, the vibrant red colour dancing through the air and blocking her vision. Everything happened in less than the time it took to take a breath.

Huu, huu, in the silent space, there was only the sound of Li Xin’s heavy breathing. After pausing for half a minute, Li Xin quickly blinked away the blood in her eyes and saw that less than ten centimetres away from her, the aboriginal’s head laid on the floor, his head half separated from his shoulders. His eyes were wide open, as if he didn’t think that such a situation would appear, and didn’t have any other emotions shown on his face.

Li Xin didn’t dare to continue looking at this kind of scene, just pushing the aboriginal’s corpse as hard as she could. As her thigh was still being held tightly by him, after she managed to push him away she too was pulled into the water.

Li Xin immediately propped herself up when she saw that. Clenching her jaws, she swiped at the aboriginals claws with the silk thread, and those five fingers immediately separated from the hand, the aboriginal’s blood slowly dying the water red. No matter how valiant you are, no matter how perverted you are, as long as you were made of flesh and blood, in the end you still won’t be able to win against weapons made out of steel, not to mention the incomparably sharp object in her hand.

Out of his control, Li Xin quickly pried off the fingers on her thigh before fishing out the anti-radiation suit floating in the water with one hand and covering up her body, which had been mostly exposed. She instantly felt that every part of her was weak and sore, running outside the moment she jumped out of the water.

“Qi Mo, where are you? I’m currently running alongside a river that’s going downstream, where are you?” In a field with grass that grew taller than a human, Li Xin abandoned all thoughts and just ran while trying to connect with Qi Mo. She didn’t know where she was and only knew to give the clearest directions that would make it easier for people to find her with. Her current injuries told everybody that for her to be able to survive, she didn’t owe it to her luck, but to her abilities.

The leaves were like knives slicing her exposed skin. Fresh blood kept coming out from those wounds, and more wounds kept appearing as she continued to run. However at this moment Li Xin had completely forgotten about her pain, relying on her memory to run in the complete opposite direction of where the aboriginal’s village was situated at. She had no speed and no strength, so getting as far away as possible from them was the critical part in escaping for her life.

“Qi Mo, where exactly are you?” Lowering her voice, she started sprinting, the communication device which gave no reply long since making her heart lift to her throat.

Peng. Li Xin suddenly grabbed a huge leaf by her side, forcing herself to stop, her face turning even paler as she looked forward.

An aboriginal was staring emotionlessly at her, balancing a bull-like animal’s carcass on his shoulder. That savage looking face, muscular body, as well as that suffocating aura of death, all crazily swarmed towards Li Xin.

Li Xin turned unhesitatingly and sprinted towards the opposite direction, while behind her, she heard the sound of something heavy hitting the ground. An extremely horrific aura of suppression erupted, and before she could yell anything, a fearsome strength suddenly smashed at her. Li Xin only felt the aboriginal’s slap landing on her back before she abruptly flew forwards, her body flopping onto the ground like a rag doll.

Li Xin grit her teeth as she flipped around, but before she could get up, a furious looking aboriginal appeared before her eyes, standing tall as he glared down at her. Li Xin looked at the aboriginal whose crazed aura was completely unleashed and in her heart suddenly appeared a sentence; this time round her death was certain.

…the aboriginal pointed at her and kept saying something that Li Xin didn’t understand. She looked down and glanced at herself. A bloodstain. Although her face had landed in the water and thus hadn’t any trace of it, however there were bloodstains on her shirt. The anti-radiation suit had already fallen beside her, while the ragged clothes she had on as well as the thick scent of blood on it made it seem as if the entire space was tainted with it.

Looking at the aboriginal’s face turn worse and worse, the killing intent turning sharper and sharper, Li Xin kept moving backwards, her eyes planted firmly on him. Unavoidable, undeniable; those words were probably talking about this moment.

It was as if the aboriginal had sensed something and looked unusually angry, amidst his roars, his fist suddenly rushed towards Li Xin. Li Xin looked at the swipe that was as fast as lightning, aimed at her head. This aboriginal didn’t want to catch her, and didn’t want to turn her into a breeding machine either; he wanted to kill her. She reflexively rolled to the side. Even if she couldn’t hide, she still had to try.

Wind rushed noisily past her ears. She heard the sound of grass and leaves getting crushed, and as those claws were about to reach her skull, Li Xin immediately knew that with her speed she wouldn’t be able to avoid them at all. The feeling of the sharp knives slicing into her cheek made even her hairs bristle, and she didn’t even think before screaming, “Qi Mo!”

Bang! A thundering sound echoed, and Li Xin only felt her eyes warm before something hot splattered onto her face. A cloud of redness exploded before her eyes as she saw that right as those claws were about to reach her face, a hand suddenly reached out from behind her and clasped onto that aboriginal’s wrist, forcing that hand to go back the way it came.

In that instant, Li Xin could only hear the ‘craack crrack’ sound of a finger breaking, and before her brain could process why that was, her body was suddenly pulled backwards. As she was pulled backwards, a human figure suddenly flashed past her, its leg shooting towards the aboriginal who was still frozen in place as loud cracking sound immediately echoed.

Forced backwards by a powerful force, Li Xin rolled a few times before she was able to stop herself. The loud sound of something heavy landing on the floor made her quickly look up. The moment she did, the world in her eyes didn’t have the aboriginal’s figure anymore, and instead, a cold, tyrannical figure quickly turned around. The moment Li Xin saw him, that intense feeling of happiness completely enveloped her, and looking at the person hurriedly walk towards her, her eyes suddenly burned as tears immediately came streaming down. “Qi Mo.”

Qi Mo quickly walked to her side and took off his anti-radiation suit, completely wrapping Li Xin up in it before carrying her up. He said in a low voice, “What’s there to cry about?” While passing through the tall grass as he ran in another direction.

The aboriginal behind them laid on the floor with his head shot into mush, the five fingers that had swiped at Li Xin bending in an unusual way, as if they’d been broken into two and just left there. Fresh blood was still pouring out of the position where his heart was, with a thick smell of blood slowly wafting through the air.

Being held by Qi Mo in his bosom, Li Xin cried while answering him, “I don’t know, I guess I thought I was already dead meat.” Her hands tightly grasped Qi Mo’s bicep, as if only by holding onto him could she feel his presence, and feel that she was still alive.

While leaving as fast as he could, he told her, “You didn’t teach me how to use it.”

The moment Li Xin heard his words she wanted to fiercely slap herself. Back then when she was explaining to Qi Mo what this earring could do, whatever high-tech, its abilities, she’d explained to him about them all, all except for how to use it to communicate. Li Xin was originally going to say it, but after getting interrupted by either White Falcon or Yellow Falcon she forgot about it. Now today, she actually almost lost her life because of that and even thought that Qi Mo didn’t care about her anymore.

When he saw the injuries on Li Xin and that wronged look on her face, his jaws ticked. Dare to harm his woman, he would make them pay for it.

Qi Mo’s tightly held Li Xin. He knew about her surroundings and situation because he heard everything through the earring, and originally he thought that she would lose her life, or just plead for him to come save her, but he didn’t know that Li Xin was actually so brave, and at the most dangerous of times could even so calmly make her move, letting him be able to arrive in time. Thankfully, thankfully, he wasn’t too late, and she was still alive.

Curled up in Qi Mo’s bosom, after crying painfully for a while, she stopped crying, and as she looked at his neck, she realised she didn’t know why she started crying moment he came. She wasn’t a child anymore, yet her tears simply starting flowing completely out of her control. Before that, even when she was facing all those dangerous situations, not a single tear had dropped. She really didn’t know what was going on with her.

After Li Xin stopped crying, she suddenly noticed what Qi Mo was wearing and her face immediately tensed. She hurriedly urged him, “Qi Mo, let’s switch back our clothes.”

“Quiet.” Qi Mo’s face was cold as he stopped her. They were still in the aboriginals’ territory, and those few shots just now were shot with heavyweight weapons, which’s sound travelled great distances. If it really attracted all those aboriginals over, no matter how powerful he was, he still didn’t have the ability to face all of them at once.

“You’ll get radiation, I’ve already gone in that pool…”

“I’ve already been contaminated.” Qi Mo suddenly interrupted before Li Xin could finish her sentence. The latter couldn’t help tightening her hold on his shoulder. Right, in a place that had so much Technetium buried underground, one would get contaminated the moment any skin was exposed. Her realisation was perhaps already late.

Lifting her head to look at his jaw, feeling the wind pass noisily by, and those rock hard shoulders embracing her, all of a sudden, Li Xin’s terror and fear disappeared. As she held his arm, she thought that perhaps Qi Mo was good person. At least, he was a good person to her.

“Rest for a while, you’ve already run pretty far,” Looking at the sweat on his forehead dripping profusely, Li Xin couldn’t help stopping him as she softly reminded. Two hours of running at top speed, and while carrying her no less, it was obvious how tired Qi Mo was.

Qi Mo calculated the distance between them and the village, and as he glanced around, he noticed that right at the bottom of a tree, which had a trunk width of over one meter, was a huge burrow. It smelt like an animal, however right now this sort of smell was even more welcomed than a meeting with an aboriginal.

As he carried Li Xin into the burrow, she quickly said, “Let’s switch back.” While taking off the anti-radiation suit and passing it to Qi Mo, she pointed towards the shirt he had on, telling him, “I’ll just wear that.” After all, there was still a difference between low and high dosages of radiation contamination. She had already taken a dip in a pool made of extremely pure Technetium, what low or high was there to separate for her. Plus, her blood had the ability to disperse radiation, she wasn’t afraid.

Qi Mo didn’t say anything when he saw how insistent she was, just taking off his shirt and draping it across her shoulders before wearing the anti-radiation suit she gave back to him.

Li Xin quickly stripped off her already ragged shirt. She didn’t really know why that aboriginal was so angry when he saw her shirt, though perhaps there something was off about that blood stain. Bringing the strips to her nose, she gave it a sniff, and instantly smelt an extremely strong scent of blood, stronger than even an animal’s.

Qi Mo looked at Li Xin’s back which was turned towards him as she put on his shirt. On her, it were so long it could be a dress. When he saw he saw that bare body decorated with so many wounds, his eyes filled with killing intent as his hands slowly reached out to brush against them.

“Owwwww..” Li Xin instantly shifted away from his touch and spun around. She saw ice in his eyes as his outstretched hand touch her thigh and shoulder before pulling her into his embrace .

She hadn’t felt much pain because of that adrenaline filled escape just now, but now that the adrenaline had worn off, just a gentle touch from Qi Mo made her immediately feel searing pain all throughout her body, and compared to Qi Mo’s treatment of her, was basically like comparing heaven with hell. While gasping for air, she finally understood how merciful and humane Qi Mo had been back then.

When Qi Mo saw Li Xin’s ashen face, his eyes froze as he asked carefully, “Is it too painful?”

Li Xin breathed deeply, revealing a sliver of a smile and chuckled softly, “It does hurt, but I can still tolerate it. I won’t be boss’s useless subordinate.”

When Qi Mo saw her smiling despite the pain, the emotions in her eyes different from before with more light, more trust, and more reliance, he couldn’t help saying, “You’re not my underling now,” While rubbing the falcon ring on her finger.

Li Xin didn’t bother trying to understand the meaning in his words, just smiling as she said, “If we can go back, I will have a peace of mind being a subordinate of yours.” All of a sudden she felt that being Qi Mo’s subordinate wasn’t too bad either. To have a boss that’d risk death to save you, who’d protect her so, maybe being his subordinate wasn’t too bad a thing.

“We will definitely return,” Qi Mo promised.

Seeing the ice in his eyes reveal an absolutely firm resolve, his cool tyrannical aura and unfaltering spirit, Li Xin couldn’t help giving a small smile, accidentally pulling on her wound and making her gasp. If it were someone else saying it, she perhaps wouldn’t believe them, but if it was Qi Mo saying it, since he dared to say it then he would definitely be able to make it happen. She believed in him.
