After resting for about 15 minutes, Qi Mo told her, “Let’s go.”

Li Xin knew that aboriginals were a threat here, but an even bigger threat was radiation. She was still alright, however Qi Mo would definitely not be able to withstand the radiation. Moreover, they couldn’t neither drink water nor eat anything, if they continued like this then death would be the only way left to go, so she didn’t say anything more and just stood up with Qi Mo.

Avoiding the hand he held out, Li Xin firmly held onto the firearm he gave her and revealed a small smile, reassuring him, “I can do it,” While only revealing a head as she peeked out of the cave. If Qi Mo continued to carry her, his speed and physical strength would decrease. At times like these the more energy one had the higher their chances of survival would get. She wasn’t a weak woman, and at this time she would absolutely not allow herself to become a hindrance.

When Qi Mo heard her words his brows raised slightly. “Just be careful,” and walked out first. If Li Xin could understand that, then he should know even better than her that now wasn’t the time to be vacillating.

Under the shade of the towering trees that made the sky seem as dark as night, the two quickly started running one behind the other, leaving in the opposite direction the aboriginal village was at with a distance of less than an arms-length between them.

“Li Hu, Li Hu, can you give me a reply if you can hear this?” Gritting her teeth, Li Xin followed behind Qi Mo while adjusting the channel on her earring non stop and trying to connect with the equipment they had brought with them to Africa.

“White Falcon, Yellow Falcon, give me a reply if you not dead damn it!” The static coming from a communication channel with nobody replying almost made Li Xin short of breath. Even if they hid, they could only hide for a while. How long did they want her to hide with Qi Mo in this mountain range for? Was it that without Qi Mo to lead them, they wouldn’t know what to do?

Though, the biggest possibility was that there wasn’t a signal in this place. There weren’t signals in desolate locations like these, and if not for their highly specialised equipment then her earring would’ve been useless in the first place. The machine had a set time and distance limit, and while although in other places, her earring could cross oceans and continents, the prerequisite was that there was a good connection, as well as for the other pair to help to connect. Now, one of the pair was on her ear while the other was on Qi Mo’s, so they could only rely on outside channels to connect. Whether or not they could receive her semaphore, whether Li Hu and his men could receive it, was what Li Xin was most worried about.

tofu – actually im not too sure if semaphore is that accurate a description for what Li Xin is trynna do (but it’s closer than all the words I’ve been using before), so don’t try to use this words in your compositions or whatever kids younger than me

Qi Mo separated the huge shrub in front of them while Li Xin was following him, when all of a sudden a small bright red snake suddenly flew out from atop the shrubbery, trying to bite Qi Mo’s back. Li Xin didn’t even hesitate when she saw it and immediately reached out to grab it, warning, “There’s a snake!”

“It’s poisonous.” Before her hand could touch that brightly coloured serpent, Qi Mo suddenly ducked and turned around, his right hand swooping upwards before the heavy weapon in his hand smashed brutally onto the snake’s body as it crashed into the ground. His foot trod down heavily and the snake head immediately let out a cracking sound while its body curled around Qi Mo’s foot as it continued squirming and whipping its tail furiously.

Li Xin saw that Qi Mo could react so quickly and ruthlessly and didn’t say anything, just continuing to follow him. In front of them was a hill with less trees, and if Li Hu, White Falcon and the others could receive their semaphore, then only in that location would the plane be able to see them. Li Xin believed that Qi Mo wouldn’t anyhow walk.

Her body got weaker and weaker. Li Xin saw that she couldn’t keep up with Qi Mo’s speed, and it was even in a situation where he had already slowed down because of her, and so in her urgency accidentally slipped and started falling towards the thicket.

Li Xin only had time to raise her hand and protect her face as her body started falling uncontrollably down.

“Careful.” That cold voice, that powerful and muscular arm; before Li Xin could land on the ground, she suddenly felt something warm around her waist. An arm quickly reached out and caught her falling figure, and before Li Xin could react, she saw her vision blur and was on Qi Mo’s back by the time she went back to her senses.

“Hold on tight.” Qi Mo swung Li Xin onto his back before quickly letting go. With one hand holding a heavy weapon as the other prepared to defend against surprise attacks, he piggybacked Li Xin while starting the climb to the top of the mountain.

As she really didn’t have any strength left, when Qi Mo carried her on his back, she quickly reached out and wrapped her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist. Her head turned to look behind them and watched alertly, the gun in her right hand pointing behind them. Qi Mo couldn’t watch his back, so she would watch out for him; at this moment they couldn’t afford to have even a single moment of carelessness.

“Li Xin, Li Xin, is that you? Give me a reply, give me a reply.” While running, Li Hu’s voice suddenly came from the earring.

The moment Li Xin heard that her eyes lit up and she quickly answered, “I don’t know the direction or the exact location, but we’re on a mountain, with nothing growing at the pinnacle. Qi Mo and I are climbing it right now and will probably arrive at the top in about half an hour, hurry up.” She finished explaining their current situation and target location in one breath and gave Li Hu and the others all the clues she had. Now they could only depend on Li Hu to be quick enough.

“Okay, I’ll expend all resources to search, you guys be careful.” In the communication channel Li Hu seemed to have heaved a sigh of relief before giving out a string of commands. All the planes should probably have been quickly sent out to search.

“Aooooooo…” Just as Li Xin managed to contact Li Hu, from the right side of them came a loud howl. A section of forest quickly fell, the sound of them falling travelling over especially clearly, and a gargantuan monster that looked similar to, yet also nothing like a bull and tiger but more like a bear and lion cross, suddenly rushed out of the forest.

Before she could even blink or get a proper look at the monster, Qi Mo who was still piggybacking her had already aimed his gun at that huge figure, and as an earthshaking boom sounded, that monster’s head crooked as it instantly turned into a piece of bloody mush. However, its furiously charging figure didn’t stop, and instead charged towards them even more desperately, as if it had been enraged. The sound of its howl mixed with the echo of trees breaking, making the situation seem even more horrific.

Qi Mo’s face became scarily emotionless, the weapon in his hand still firing non stop at the the monster’s vital points as he quickly moved to the side. Right now avoiding it was better than meeting it head on.

Boom. Finally, the monster’s huge figure collapsed to the ground just as it was about to reach the two. Power was absolute, but technology was even more absolute, now wasn’t the time to fight over who was the Tarzan.

The moment Qi Mo shot the monster, Li Xin swept an eye over it before laying low on Qi Mo’s back as she scanned the area behind them. Cooperation, she cooperated without needing Qi Mo’s verbal reminder. Li Xin didn’t know why with just a tap on her back and a sweep of his eye, she’d understood what he meant. The connection in that moment made Li Xin just silently and carefully carry out the task her gave her.

There was movement. In the instant that the monster fell down, a bush suddenly shook twice, and Li Xin didn’t even think before quickly flipping out the gun she had been holding all along. Be it an aboriginal or an animal that had long mutated after living here for such a long period of time, all she could do was make a move the moment there was any movement that was out of the ordinary, otherwise, if she waited for it to make the first move, she and Qi Mo would not be its match.

Bright sparks exploded in the air. As the deafening sound was still ringing in her ear, Li Xin who had been shocked by that shot’s rebound felt her that arm was beginning to numb. That easiness and impressiveness, the carefree way they did it; so, it turns out that nothing was the way movies had made it out to be.

Qi Mo had turned around the moment Li Xin opened fire and stretched out a hand to hold her hand that hit by the rebound as his own weapon aimed at the place Li Xin had shot at just now. He fired, and immediately that bush starting burning up as a pathetic howl sounded from it. Qi Mo didn’t even give it a second glance as he carried Li Xin away. This was a model that he had personally customised and improved, no matter if you were a mutated aboriginal or whatever else, as long as you were a living breathing being, just this shot was enough.

“Yours only has thirty bullets.” Qi Mo piggybacked Li Xin, coldly saying to her while heading towards the top of the mountain.

The moment she heard Li Xin couldn’t help tightening her hold on her firearm. This was no movie, there were no never-ending bullets to save her life. Her firearm only had so many bullets, and with that crazy firing just now, she didn’t know how many was left.

She often saw firearms in the past but had never used them before, not to mention the one in her hand that she couldn’t even call the name of, however at this moment she wanted to learn how to use them, because since she was going to be following beside Qi Mo, if she was a scaredy-cat, if she couldn’t protect herself, and if she didn’t learn how to use them, then death would constantly be looming over her head.

She nodded “I know.”

“Eleven bullets left.” Qi Mo carried her and didn’t look at her when talking.

When Li Xin heard that Qi Mo didn’t even look at her and could just rely on his hearing to know how many bullets she had left, she couldn’t help raising her brows in shock, but at the same time just silently observed the area she was responsible for. This was no time to worship or be surprised.

They ran, going very quickly. Looking at the mountaintop that was getting closer and closer, the trees around them getting sparser and sparser, Li Xin’s heart beat steadily yet powerfully. The closer they were to their goal, the more they had to keep their calm, and the more they couldn’t panic.

‘Peng!’ There was suddenly the sound of a violent collision. Being carried on Qi Mo’s back, Li Xin almost let go and flew off from the impact. She immediately turned her head around.

She only saw a blurry figure of a human pounce towards Qi Mo then back off as quick as lightning. That figure was running forwards yet its hand still reached backwards, towards them. Those five powerful fingers reached over Qi Mo’s shoulders and coincidentally aimed straight at her face.

There was no sound, only the feeling of the air being clawed apart, and Li Xin didn’t even blink as her head stayed unmoving on Qi Mo’s shoulder. With Qi Mo here, she could let him settle this. The hand holding the gun quickly aimed towards the man with his back facing them, ready to fire.

Pa. Qi Mo suddenly made his move. His empty left hand met the five fingers that were reaching over, pushing it back down towards that man. At the same time the right hand that held the firearm pushed Li Xin’s gun holding arm up.

In an instant, the sound of a shot firing rang out, shooting into the empty air above the man’s head, while that person twisted under Qi Mo’s powerful grasp, stopping himself from going any further in the direction that push sent him by somersaulting once. Before that figure could turn around, a heavy voice came from it. “Overlord?”

Li Xin immediately froze, dumbfounded. She blinked, watching for the identity of the person in front. Who was it? Just now, she only saw a human-like figure and didn’t notice what exactly it was.

She saw that person quickly turn around. The light reflecting anti-radiation suit was blinding in this dark forest, and the more she looked the more familiar it seemed. She didn’t need to think further however, because only Qi Mo’s people wore this suit, while those aboriginal’s were so obviously ridiculously tall; that much became obvious the moment they stood up straight. Phew, thank goodness Qi Mo managed to stop her in time, otherwise she would have harmed their own people.

“Black Falcon.” Qi Mo looked at the dishevelled Black Falcon, saying gloomily.

“Yes, it’s Black Falcon.” Black Falcon quickly went to stand beside Qi Mo, and only after hearing this voice could Li Xin finally tell that it was actually Black Falcon.

When Black Falcon saw that Qi Mo didn’t say anything more and just continued running up the mountain, he quickly followed behind him. While running, he quietly said, “Thank you overlord for being merciful.

He had been hiding in the forest just now and didn’t hear the sound of them talking, only hearing the sound of movement quickly moving in his direction, and having eaten many a loss in the hands of aboriginals, Black Falcon knew that once he was discovered, he could only try and take the upper hand first, otherwise once the aboriginals begin to make their move, he would have no way to take them down.

And so, he didn’t hesitate. The moment the steps appeared right in front of him, he leapt up and brutally charged over. An aboriginal was best at attacks outside an arm’s reach because their claws were so powerful that they could tear a beast to pieces. However, once up close, their reaction time and speed wouldn’t be as good as when farther away. This was the only weakness that Black Falcon had managed to find after more than a day of frantic avoiding.

While that backwards grab was aimed straight at their heart. Yet he didn’t expect that the one he was facing would be Qi Mo. That grab had been way too high, and had even been deflected by Qi Mo, causing him to nearly break an arm in the process.

Seeing that it was actually Black Falcon, with one more highly skilled Black Falcon with them, Li Xin’s heart was even calmer.

Although he was extremely dishevelled, one could still tell from his voice it was him, and when she heard him say so, she couldn’t help asking, “How?” She didn’t see where Qi Mo had been merciful.

Yet she didn’t know, Qi Mo was a person who was naturally more sensitive to outside forces, and after having Black Falcon follow him for so many years, he was the most familiar he could be with his aura. If not for feeling that it was Black Falcon there, how would he would have so easily allowed Black Falcon to crash into him. Li Xin couldn’t immediately tell who it was, but it didn’t mean that he couldn’t. He had been merciful because it was Black Falcon, otherwise even if he didn’t manage to break Black Falcon’s arm then and there, Li Xin’s shot would have also taken away half his life.

The closer to the top of the mountain they were, the more open the area around them. Li Xin was looking after their backs when her eyes suddenly opened wide. She gasped, “They’ve caught up.”

As they were standing at a taller location, when they looked down, they could see the figures of aboriginals flashing past in the forest behind them, as well as behind rocks, running swiftly towards them. Their fearsome speed, their howls that were carried over by the wind, made one not help but feel a shiver run up their spine.

Black Falcon gave a quick glance behind them, solemnly declaring, “I’ll go lure them away, overlo…”

“Shut up.” Qi Mo suddenly shouted furiously before Black Falcon could finish his sentence. The latter quickly swallowed his words back down, not saying more.

“I’ve already contacted Li Hu, they’re going to fetch us soon. Qi Mo put me down so you can arrive faster…” Li Xin finished explained things to Black Falcon before turning around to say to Qi Mo. A bit of her energy had finally returned, and she would do anything to increase their speed. She absolutely could not drag Qi Mo down.

“How fast can you even run?” Qi Mo didn’t turn back, just using his limbs to climb up the mountain. Right now there were no more forest, and only rocks, large rocks, were left. With no more flat ground left to cover, they could only climb up.

Li Xin was immediately speechless. She sighed, not arguing with Qi Mo. She was fast, but definitely wasn’t as fast as Qi Mo, and had only wanted to help Qi Mo save some energy, however it seemed that he didn’t want it.

Her eyes were pinned onto those constantly nearing aboriginals. The strength and speed that were as powerful as a leopard’s made Li Xin’s heart slowly lift up. If Li Hu’s plane didn’t arrived, the only path they had… needless to say, they all knew in their hearts.
