Her grandparents were aged so it wasn’t convenient for them to go care for her father. Her little sister was still in the nursing stage so her mother couldn’t go out either. Yang He and Yang Qing’s relationship has always been quite well and this time, Yang ZiMei helped him earn that much money. Therefore, he volunteered himself to care for him in the hospital.

Yang ZiMei wanted to follow but everyone disagreed because they felt she was too little, the city had many people and cars, it was very dangerous. However, in the end they couldn’t beat her stubbornness and could only instruct Yang He to carefully look after her.

Arriving at the hospital, she sees her father with a haggard face lying atop the bed and his leg in a thick cast. Yang ZiMei’s heart ached.

“Why’d you also bring sweetie over?” Yang Qing sees her and chided.

“Big brother, you shouldn’t look at sweetie like a child, she’s very fierce. Today, aside from helping me earn ten thousand kuai, she also earned a hundred thousand kuai for you guys.” Right when Yang He saw Yang Qing, he couldn’t bear but say it.

“Yang He, what joke are you cracking? Hundred thousand kuai? Did it fall from the sky?”

Yang He then recounted the event’s course in its entirety to Yang Qing.

After Yang Qing listened, he gave an unbelievable look towards his own daughter.

He hadn’t thought her going up the mountain every day to learn some superstitious things from the old priest would actually make money.

Today, he went to the Bureau of Education to process his transfer. However, because he didn’t prepare a secretly stuffed red envelope, he was shooed away by a darkened face. With a soured mood and absent-minded, he collided with a car and broke his leg. [1]

The car’s owner ran away, he was just worrying whether he had money for the medical expenses.

“Dad, where are the pants you were wearing today?” Yang ZiMei saw her father wearing hospital clothes, thought of her talisman, and asked.

“On the bus this morning, it somehow got cut by a nail. After getting off, I could only go buy a new pair of pants.” Yang Qing said with a heartache. Those pants were his most treasured pair. One, was because he wore those in his wedding and two, they were his best pants.

No wonder father couldn’t have avoided the traffic accident, turns out he wasn’t wearing the talisman.

“Big brother, now the family isn’t short on money so you can recover your leg at ease here. To prevent any aftereffects, I’ll take Yang ZiMei out for a stroll and play.” Yang He said.

“Be careful, don’t lose the sweetie.”

“I think she’ll lose me, you can’t lose a sweetie this smart.” Yang He mumbled.

Yang ZiMei originally wanted to stay in the hospital with her father but she felt the hospital’s malignance was too heavy. It made her whole body uncomfortable and the surroundings felt like they were filled with innumerable souls of the deceased floating about. Therefore, she’ll leave with Yang He.

“Sweetie, how about uncle bring you to the park to play?” Yang He looked towards Yang ZiMei.

Yang ZiMei shook her head, she doesn’t have a speck of interest in regard to A-city’s park. In the previous life, she doesn’t even know how many nights were spent curled up in that park.

“Then uncle will take you to roam the mall?”

“We can walk casually.”

Yang ZiMei really wanted to have a look at the differences between the current A-city and the A-city of 2013.

Besides, she wanted to buy a suite in the city so her family could move out here. Maybe it would directly avoid the cause of her family’s decimation in the previous life.

She discovered the 1992 A-city unexpectedly centered around the western area which was the future old district while the new district was desolate. It also didn’t have any development yet. Even the most exuberant commerce central building was only a stretch of vegetation.

“Uncle, help me ask about buying the property here and how much would it cost.” Yang ZiMei pointed to that plot where the future commerce building would be constructed.

“Sweetie, this place is so remote, what are you buying it for?” A puzzled Yang He asked.

“For my mom to grow vegetables!” Yang ZiMei retorted, “Doesn’t my family now have a hundred thousand kuai? I want everyone to move out into the city so dad and mom can avoid getting bullied by those villagers.”

“Then you could buy within the city, an apartment is about thirty thousand kuai.”

“You help me ask first.” Yang ZiMei didn’t want to explain too much to him.

“Okay.” Yang He couldn’t treat her like a little child so no matter what she says now, he thought it was right. In any case, by his discontent-with-one’s-place way of thinking, even growing vegetables in the city was still better than tilling the fields in the village.

1. Yup, bribes. There will come an age when I’d feel like the extortioner during holidays.
