In the world of cultivation,
Alchemy is a kind of auxiliary thing to 'cultivation', which plays a vital role. And similar to it arrays are so. Both alchemy and 'array' have their pros and cons, and sometimes these both are interlinked.
What are arrays, you say?
Formations, which are arrayed structures, either can be drawn or constructed.
If one wants to draw it, They would require a specific portion, which functions like paint. And these portions are obtained through alchemy! [See, I said both alchemy and array are interlinked]
Portions for Array; could be obtained via two methods
One some particular type of herbs
Two materials from the natural array
And these natural arrays aren't human-made, they form naturally in the environment full of mana. Still, it takes time for them to build.
If you ask an array master, which method will he prefer? And without any wait in his reply, His answer would be the second method!
Why?
Because of quality, Naturally acquired portions have superb quality over human-made ones. Still, due to the scarcity of the 'natural portions', human-made 'portions' were popularly used in the present cultivation world.
Depending, on the task, and rank of a formation. Formations structures and complexity may increase.
Similar to alchemy, formations; are divided into ten grades.
One being the lowest and ten being the highest.
Further it can be divided into 4 groups:
1-3 -> initial group
4-6 -> middle group
7-9 -> high group
and 10 belongs to perfection group.
And also, for drawing a formation of a certain rank; respectively ranked materials, where required.
So, the materials are also divided; into ten grades: 1 being the lowest and ten being the highest.

In the next dream, which is an 'array dream'.
The same hall appeared, which was, seen in the alchemy dream. But the plants and herbs were replaced by different types of ores, which were of different grades. These ores were 'natural material' and required slight effort to convert them into array portions.
The kid was standing in front of the cauldron with his eyes closed. Memories regarding formation started to enter his mind, Which caused him both pain and also stimulation to his brain.
The kid woke up. The kid was feeling very, very, refreshed, just like a morning wake up.
Then he looked around the hall, Seeing, new glistering ores around him, his curiosity got high! And he started to inspect the metals one by one.
After he finished his survey, he picked some ores, and then the kid put them into the cauldron; Which was the same green coloured cauldron, with sun and moon carved on it which he used during alchemy.
He then Ignited the violet coloured fire below the cauldron and started to melt the ore. Soon, the liquid; was formed in the 'cauldron'.
The kid put-off the violet fire and started to chant the laws from his memories, within his mind. Mysterious energy appeared above the liquid and cooled it down. The liquid cooled down and because of the chant, it didn't transform into a solid alloy.
When he finished the process, he lifted his right arm; soon a black cone-like instrument appeared above his arm.
He then poured the cooled liquid in this cone-like instrument and went to an empty area in the hall. And he started to draw a formation on the ground. The 'hall' was quite spacious, several hundred arrays; could be illustrated easily.
He took fifteen minutes to draw a large formation on the ground.
After drawing the formation, which was a large circle filled with intricate designs, He went out of the of 'formation'. He then started to chant laws, soon the liquid in the formation changed to solid form.
Looking at the formation, the kid summoned an apple and threw it in the 'formation'. As soon as the apple entered the 'formation'; It dispersed like mist.
Seeing the result, the kid nodded his head. But he didn't felt much accomplishment now, like when he felt forming the 10th-grade pill in alchemy dream. The kid started to make new portions and new formations.
Time went on, nearly 1000 years crossed in the kid's dream. At outside, only one year has passed by.
A one year had added to his age, and now the kid was ten years old.
The kid was wholly absorbed in his work. Voices continued to echo repeatedly for several years. He ignored It, but they were unconsciously memorised, by him.
Unlike alchemy, there were no heavenly tribulations. So, there were no several thousand failures this time like in alchemy dream. Still, the kid failed several hundred times though. And this was quite low!
Soon the kid finished his last formation, a grade 10th one. Don't know why he didn't fell much accomplishment! [ author: damn Kid!feeling no sense of achievement! If it were me, I would be feeling like achieving heavens!!]
The child was exhausted. He slowly closed his eyes.

.... the dream didn't disperse!!
The child opened his eyes, as he couldn't sleep. He couldn't stop his brain activity.
Now at present, the hall was empty! Nothing was there! No plants! No ores! He continuously looked around. He couldn't find a thing; the whole 'hall' was just empty.
Now he didn't know what he should do! He started to panic! Unlike till know, it was as if, he was; being guided somehow. And now there was no this 'somehow' to guide him.
In the panic and tense mood of not knowing what to do….....
"WAA...WAAHH! WAAA…...!!"
The kid squatted down and started to cry!; This was the first time he opened his mouth! Though he gained may ancient language, but the kid didn't know how to use these languages to speak! In the dream, there were no parents to guide him.
"WAAAAAA…...!!"
"WAAAAAHHHH…...!"

"waaa…"
" 'crying sniffs'…'sniffs'…'sniffs'…. "
Don't know how long it went; the kid finally stopped crying. He rubbed his eyes and jerkingly stood up, and After crying aloud, he felt good and lite.
He went to a corner and again sat down. This time he wasn't crying, but he was thinking. He soon remembered that he summoned a cone-like an instrument during arraying.
*swish*
He 'summoned' the black cone.
He thoughtfully looked at it. Somehow he felt he could summon other things! Then he closed his eyes and summoned some ores.

Metals appeared!; The kid was delighted.
Soon he summoned plants, with a swish they appeared. Now, looking around the hall he started to think, what should he do?
Soon an idea strokes his mind.
He summoned the green cauldron. Then he 'summoned' a plant; which has dark green coloured; round fruits on it. This fruit was called, 'booming fruit'. It blasts out when one bites it.
He put the fruit in the cauldron. He burned the waste from the fruit and removed it. Then he liquefied the remaining semi-solid thing. The liquid started to get condensed. Soon a dan was formed, it was a single dark green coloured pill, This was a grade 6 pill of perfect quality!
Then he summoned a black coloured array portion directly!
[Author: hey kid! If you could 'summon' the things straight. Then why didn't you 'summon' the pill instantly?! *sigh* the only god knows why.]
Using a pointed pen, which sucked array portion, He drew an array on the pill!
[Author: kid you are indeed a genius!]
Black clouds appeared in the sky! Seeing this, the kid so only put the pill back in the cauldron.
[ Author: O MY GOD! WASN'T IT A 6TH GRADE PILL!]
Two thunder strokes fell on it. The kid was tensed up. But seeing the pill cross the tribulation successfully, he sighed in relief. He picked up the 'pill'.
After crossing the tribulation, the array around this dark pill was glistering. The Dan was no longer a 6th-grade pill; It was a 7th-grade pill! Because of the addition of 'array' to it, it ranked-up.
Then the kid threw the pill toward the wall near him. As soon as the Dan touched the wall
"BOOOOOM!!!"
It blasted out, and the whole hall destroyed.

Luckily it was just a dream! Or else gods know how many times this kid would have been dead!
Now the kid was in a dark space and now in front of him, were four golden coloured doors.
These doors stood beside one another, and nothing supported these doors. These doors just stood in this black space, in front of the kid without any support, spatially.
The kid walked to the first door, this door, was calligraphed with skulls, and it didn't give any ill feeling. He pushed and opened it. Soon he was given a fright.
The things inside the door were blurry, and the opened door was giving off a baleful aura! The kid ran away from the door.
After a long time, calming himself down, he came back. Still, he had some fear and didn't dare to look towards the first door, which was, in the opened state.
He walked toward the second door. And this door has dragons calligraphed on it. He slowly pushed the door opened. Same as the first door, this door's inside was also blurry and a domineering aura released from this door.
The kid already had made up his mind. So, the domineering didn't frighten him. But He also didn't like this aura, so he didn't want to enter this door.
He went to the third golden door, and this door; was calligraphed with beautiful handwriting. The kid couldn't understand the writings, Because it was the present human language which the kid didn't know.
He pushed opened the door. Surprisingly no aura was being released. Still the door's inside was blurry, and it looked calm. The kid decided to enter this door.
Just for once he looked towards the fourth golden door, which had leaves calligraphed on it. Then without further thinking, he entered the third door, and after entering in, he vanished.

After a while...
The 4th door opened. Similar to others, its inside was blurry, but it was releasing 'kind' aura.
Four figures appeared from the door.
On was entirely white skinned and hooded with black clothes, He was releasing dark aura. This guy came out of the first door, which issued a baleful atmosphere.
The other was a fully covered, golden armoured, large guy. He was full of arrogance. This guy came out of the 2nd door, which released domineering aura.
The next guy was average. He looked quite naturally, and his attire was pure white. He came from the third door, which didn't give off, any aura.
The last guy was elegant and dressed in green. He had a pointed ear. He came out from the 4th door, which was giving off 'kind aura'.
Compare to the other three. The 3rd door guy seems to be in contrast.
Then every one nodded to each other and entered in the third golden door.
Then the doors vanished from this dark space. The dream slowly dispersed like mist.

Similar to others, its inside was blurry, but it was releasing 'kind' aura.Four figures appeared from the door.On was entirely white skinned and hooded with black clothes, He was releasing dark aura. This guy came out of the first door, which issued a baleful atmosphere.The other was a fully covered, golden armoured, large guy. He was full of arrogance. This guy came out of the 2nd door, which released domineering aura.The next guy was average. He looked quite naturally, and his attire was pure white. He came from the third door, which didn't give off, any aura.The last guy was elegant and dressed in green. He had a pointed ear. He came out from the 4th door, which was giving off 'kind aura'.Compare to the other three.
