Chapter 135: Spirit Runemaster

Elder Qin who pushed open the door directly walked up to Lu Xuan, his face joyful.

“Lu Xuan, Hallmaster has a request. Your Wild Explosion rune has left Hallmaster speechless. Its evaluation was extremely high. Please come over for a chat.”

The hall master had put out his face, how could Lu Xuan dare to decline. He still wanted to mix in with the Enchantment Hall for a while. If he offended the hall master, then he didn’t need to come anymore.

“Since Hallmaster is so generous, disciple naturally doesn’t dare to refuse.” Lu Xuan bowed and said, however inwardly, he made up his mind. He would make a request to the hall master, no matter what he said, he wouldn’t give up on the martial path.

“Elder Qin, I’ll take Lu Xuan. I’ll turn this assessment over to you to preside. Hmph, this group of brats got off easy.” Elder Fan proactively said.

“I’m also going! I want to see what the rune he drew looks like.” Chen Xiao Han said on the beat. Obviously Lu Xuan’s dirty talk hadn’t had a light effect on her.

Chen Xiao Han had a rather special status in the Enchantment Hall. Normally she was deeply doted on by the elders. Currently she had come to participate in the assessment only as a formality. Elder Fan naturally didn’t stop her. Taking the lead and walking in front, he brought Lu Xuan and Chen Xiao Han to search for the hall master.

On the examiners’ side, many quickly failed in drawing and lifted up their heads to vent their frustrations when they discovered that Elder Fan was leaving. When Elder Qin stood on the primary examiner position, they were immediately happy.

“Quickly look, look. Elder Fan left. Haha, indeed heaven never completely blocks off a road.”

“Oh. He actually left. No good, no good. Then I need to quickly restart. Maybe, perhaps I’ll also be able to pass.”

Elder Fan’s sudden departure cause quite a few disciples who had originally prepared to give up to have their hopes rekindled. Elder Qin was known for being a nice old man with a moderate temper. As long as they could successfully draw the enchantment scroll and there weren’t any glaring flaws, their chances of passing were very large!

For a time, the crowd of disciples once again busied themselves. Once the excitement died down, their movements improved by a bit.

Under Elder Fan’s lead, Lu Xuan exited the great Hall. After passing through two corridors, they arrived in a silent room.

Since they knew the hall master was already waiting inside, Elder Fan didn’t announce them and directly went in. Taking a step into the silent room, Lu Xuan saw a middle-aged man wearing a white robe with his hair combed in a bun. At the moment, he was leaning over an enchantment scroll which was on a desk. Most likely, that would be the scroll that he had just drawn.

Perhaps the footsteps of the three had alerted this middle-aged man. He immediately turned his eyes away from the scroll and looked towards Lu Xuan and the other two. With a slightly smile: “Elder Fan, you came too. This one must be Lu Xuan?”

Lu Xuan hurriedly took a step forward and made his greeting: “Disciple Lu Xuan greets Hallmaster.”

The hall master laughed and waved his hand: “No need for formalities. Just now, I have looked over your enchantment scroll three times. Each time I can’t help but sigh in amazement. I heard Elder Qin say you’ve only had contact with enchanting skills for three months time. Do you know what senior position your teacher was?”

Hallmaster went straight for the crucial questions. For secular people, enchanting skills weren’t something anyone could learn. Even if you had enough money to spend, you still needed someone to guide you.

Lu Xuan hesitated a bit. Then he went with the original hoodwink that he had told Xia Chen Xi: “Disciple had encountered a senior. That senior was wandering. Even now I do not know his name. He only taught disciple enchanting techniques for three days and then left.”

The hall master slightly frowned. He originally wanted to ask about the master behind Lu Xuan. Now it seemed there was no way to find him, however, his eyebrows then raised up again. This was also fine. If Lu Xuan had the master’s words, then getting him to join the Enchantment Hall might have been a problem. Since he didn’t have a teacher right now, there was no issues in that regard.

Hallmaster then laughed: “Your opportunity really makes a person’s eyes red. I imagine that senior most likely was also very strong in the martial path. Seeing your qualifications weren’t bad, only then did he teach you the skills for enchanting, resulting in that opportunity. However, since you only learned three days, I imagine that the enchanter’s ** system, he also didn’t explain the system right?”
(TN: I have no idea what that ** is and it could significantly affect the meaning of the sentence. Maybe)

Lu Xuan’s mind shook. Enchanter’s ** system? Didn’t enchanter’s only practice runes and then draw enchantment scrolls? What ** system was there?
(TN: It seems like it is most likely the level up system, similar to the body refining into spirit refining.)

Although his thoughts were scattered, he didn’t dare to let his mouth move too slowly: “Hallmaster is perceptive. Disciple has indeed has not had any systematic learning. Currently coming to the Enchantment Hall was in order to improve my understanding.”

Listening to Lu Xuan’s words, Chen Xiao Han who had been interested in examining the Wild Explosion scroll that he had drawn couldn’t help but raise her in shock: “No way right? You don’t even know about the enchanter’s ** system? No wonder you look down on the Enchantment Hall. Ignorant.”

Hearing this, Lu Xuan was bitter inside. Dang, he had been ridiculed again. Women indeed were vengeful beasts. Didn’t I just look at you a couple times and make fun of your flat chest?

However once Chen Xiao Han had spoken, Hallmaster’s scolded her: “Xiao Han, how can you talk like that. Do you think that everyone’s like you and had guidance since they were small, all the resources you needed to practice. You’re still tooting your horn? Lu Xuan’s three months time were enough to reach this kind of degree. You ought to properly reflect over yourself. In the future, I want you to put away your playful airs.”

Towards her father’s scolding, Chen Xiao Han naturally didn’t dare to refute and only pretended to have not heard it and continued to  study Lu Xuan’s scroll. While looking, she couldn’t help secretly nodding her head. Wait a second, although this guy’s a bit hateful, he really had some material in his hands. The utilization of the runes could be described as perfection. More importantly, she could tell, Lu Xuan’s application of each rune, no matter the position, strength, or the concentration of product, all of it was just right. It was hard to imagine that amidst the frantic enchanting, where there was no room for distractions, one was able to maintain this sort of stability.

“Hehe, this kid hasn’t listened since she was young. Lu Xuan, don’t take her words to heart. I’ve heard that Elder Fan has invited you to enter the Enchantment Hall and you’ve refused, correct?”

Hallmaster directly opening the door and viewing the mountain, Lu Xuan was a bit embarrassed. It was as if he was a thief and had been caught red-handed by the owner. However, he didn’t have a choice. He at least still had the courage to do it. Also, he would have to refuse it in the future anyway.
(TN: Directly tackling the big issue. Talking about the elephant in the room.)

“Although enchantment skills are exquisite, disciple’s heart is on the martial path, thus, it will be difficult to get disciple to let go of the martial path and turn to study enchanting.” Lu Xuan repeated what he had to before to Elder Fan.

Hearing this, the hall master didn’t get angry at all, instead he revealed a smile: “Listening to your words, I know, you indeed don’t understand the enchanter’s ** system. It seems you think that enchanters only study runes and draw scrolls right?”

Lu Xuan was startled: “Is it not?”

“Of course it’s not. If it was that way, then how could enchanters guarantee their own safety. Wouldn’t that mean relying on others for their entire lives? If one doesn’t have enough fighting force, do you think my Enchantment Hall could stay in such a position within the Wind Sword Sect and not receive the restraining of the inner sect?” Hallmaster still hadn’t spoken before Chen Xiao Han on the side was the first to speak.

This time, Hallmaster didn’t scold her for randomly interrupting because this time, Chen Xiao Han’s words were indeed, correct.

“Xiao Han spoke correctly. Since it’s that way, I’ll first talk about the enchanting series. Common low level martial artists only know that enchanters can draw enchantment scrolls for adding enchantments onto equipment, but did you know that enchanters have another name, called spirit runemasters?”

Listening to the new name that Hallmaster said at the end, an expression of doubt flashed across Lu Xuan’s face. Spirit runemaster? This was indeed the first time he had heard of it. However, this name alone seemed to be more domineering than enchanter.

“I imagine that you know, within my Enchanter Hall, enchanters are divided into three levels, primary level, middle level, and high level, but above high level, there are other levels. Those are spirit runemasters!” Hallmasters speech caused Lu Xuan to suddenly see the light.

Previously he had been in doubt. With his current strength he could stumble into a middle level enchanter position. Then how could enchanting skills be one the same level as equipment refining skills and pill refining skills. He hadn’t thought that above enchanters there was actually a spirit runemaster title!

Hallmaster seemed to know that Lu Xuan didn’t understand everything, so he continued to speak, carefully explaining the concept of the spirit runemaster to Lu Xuan: “Spirit runemasters are the enchanters evolution. In order to become a spirit runemaster requires first becoming an enchanter because it requires an enchanter to become familiar with runes and lay down the basics. Once you can fluently draw high level enchantment runes, then your basic skills would be around large success. Next up you can draw spirit runes!”

“The attack power of us spirit runemasters comes entirely from our spirit runes. Spirit runes are different from enchantment runes. Enchantment runes required being attached onto equipment and weapons in order to take effect, but spirit runes don’t need that. For example this one.” Hallmaster stopped speaking and suddenly reached out with his right hand. In the air, he swiped twice, then suddenly there was a flicker and a fiery light suddenly burst not far from Lu Xuan. A surge of hot air spread out.

Lu Xuan shivered internally, hurriedly circulating soul force to resist this wave of air. Fortunately, this airwaves attack power wasn’t strong. After all, it was randomly sent out by Hallmaster’s hand and disappeared in a flash.

“Do you get it?” Taking back his right hand, Hallmaster once again looked towards Lu Xuan.

Lu Xuan thoughtfully nodded. He understood. He also understood the use of that the Void Drawing Rune skill in his head. Just now what Hallmaster had used was impressively the Void Drawing Rune skill. He hadn’t used any kind of  support and had only drawn a rune in the air, which then exploded.

However, what Hallmaster had drawn wasn’t an enchantment rune, but was what he had spoken about, a spirit rune! A spirit rune with attack power!

Hallmaster’s voice once again sounded: “Spirit runemaster’s attack powers all come from spirit runes. Spiritual power also gets stronger with spirit force, along with the spirit runes you’re able to draw becoming stronger, and the drawing speed also becoming faster. Also, spirit runemaster attacks aren’t limited to impromptu drawn runes, and can also create spells. If activated in combat, you won’t even need to move a finger and just toss out the spirit rune you’re carrying and will be able to issue the corresponding attack.”

“Thus, in reality, enchanters, or I should say spirit runemasters, do not conflict with the martial path you are chasing because it similarly is a martial path. The only difference is martial artists practice soul force while spirit runemasters practice spirit force.
