Episode 8 Examination Start
“. . . . this, how will we able to get the result with this?”
While looking at the remains of crystal ball, I asked Instructor Rejin.
Before breaking, the crystal ball shined really bright. . . . even though, I did not touch it.
“No, I have never seen a case where the crystal ball would break, we would not know the result. . . Well, it is probably a bug. Certainly, it seems that the crystal ball must have been an old stock. Let me bring another one.”
So said the instructor then going back inside the guild.
After a while, he came back with what looked like another crystal ball.
“Yosh, this is brand new and a freshly tested product, it should not break. Please touch it.”
I am relieved that this is brand new.
While thinking so, I reached in towards the crystal ball.
However. . .
“. . . . this, isn’t this dangerous?”
When I brought my hand closer, the crystal ball began to shine and vibrate.
Just like the crystal ball earlier that cracked, it behaved exactly the same way.
While looking this way, Instructor Rejin gets flustered.
“. . . . sorry, you should not touch it after all. Let’s just give up in measuring your magic power. . . . . You can use magic even though it says that you are a tamer, I never thought this was possible. . . . it is impossible to measure.”
“Impossible to measure, has something like this ever happened?”
When I asked that, Instructor Rejin responded.
“I have never seen it before, I have not heard of anyone unable to measure at the time of registration. . . . though there is a story about a crystal ball getting cracked when measuring the『Dragon Magus of Destruction』.”
“Could it be this tamer have the same magic power level as the『Dragon Magus of Destruction』!?”
Instructor Rejin quickly reacted to those words, not me, I am just an average mage taking the exam.
Apparently, that 『Dragon Magus of Destruction』 seemed to be a famous person.
“Un. The quality among crystal balls seem to vary, just because this crystal ball broke does not mean that he is of the same level as the『Dragon Magus of Destruction』 . . . . As far as I can tell, he seems to have a considerable amount of magic power. . . .”
(TLN: Un is usually used as a speech representation of a nod)
Is what Instructor Rejin said as he tapped on the crystal ball.
My magic power, is that much?
I just came to this world, I have not gotten any training so I thought that I had less magical power compared to the rest.
“Anyway, it was irregular. . . . but it is time to end the magic power test. Next, let’s do a combat test.”
The instructor went out of the guild as he said so, we then followed him out.
A combat test, immediately it became like the usual dirty adventurers.
. . . . I do not have any weapons, is it going to be ok I wonder.
“Everyone, did you all diligently bring your weapons?”
While I was thinking about it, I was asked to prepare my weapon.
Oh no, I do not have one.
“I did not bring any. Is it necessary?”
I answered honestly.
Then the instructor made a mocking face.
“You used magic before, though a wand is necessary to use it. How are you going to use magic without a wand?”
“Even if you ask me. . . . I think I can use it normally. . . .”
As I said that, I checked my status.
During that time the magic that became negative because of『Hellfire of Demise』, had already recovered.
With this, I can use magic without hesitation.
“. . . . well, if you can use magic without a wand, you should try it. I do not think it would work though. . . .”
Instructor Rejin’s words cut off, I ―― for now, I looked around towards the mage group.
Other than me, the other mages brought out their wands.
I do not understand why but it seems that using wands is normal for mages.
“First off, it is for the magic exam. Face towards those rocks. Shoot your best attack magic towards it. As for the order on shooting it. . . . it will go from left to right.”
That is what instructor Rejin said, and nearby, I see a huge boulder.
In regards to the boulder, it has been scarred by magic, there were a lot of burn marks.
I am on the far right, I am last in the order of shooting magic.
Without delay, I began thinking what magic I would use.
. . . . if it is only about power then 『Hellfire of Demise』 would be enough, but that would be only if I had no other choice.
It is a magic that consumes a lot of magic, the exam is going to be harder after this. . . .
I have used it several times so far, 『Fireball』should do.
『Fireball』is kinda lame, I wanna use magic that seem a bit more powerful, it is the first time that I will use magic in an exam, I have to be bold.
“Next, it’s your turn Yuji. Without a wand, are you really going to be okay? If you really can use magic, then prepare the wand properly and try again next in the next exam. . . .”
While thinking about such a thing, it seems that my turn has come.
As usual, Instructor Rejin advises for me to use a wand. . . . it is probably not necessary.

Then as usual, a fireball came flying towards the bounder, it causes a mild explosion.
Yup, it had a subtle amount of power after all.
If it is only to beat a weak demon, it should be powerful enough.
While I was thinking about it, I turned towards instructor Rejin ―― instructor Rejin for some reason, has his mouth agape while looking this way.
Maybe, did something happen?
I was thinking that while nervously waiting for instructor Rejin’s response.
After a while, instructor Rejin opened his mouth.
“Say, Yuji”
“What?”
“I do not care if you do not have a wand.The amount of power is a hundred times more strange but. . . . you, what about chanting?”
