Braedon stood next to Zan Fu in a small group of people. Most of them were his cousins but of course there were some friends they brought along as well. Their group consisted of five boys and three girls. They were not the biggest group nor were they the strongest. But some of the people here were considered geniuses and had important backgrounds that few people would wish to offend.
One of the girls walked up to Braedon and started to run her knuckles on his head playfully.
"Braedon! I heard about the big news this morning. So you're a cultivator as well. Man, how long have you been hiding this from us?" This was Mei Jia, Zan Fu's cousin on his mom's side.
She was an... energetic person, which allowed her to always give off a vibrant feeling. She used to be a major tomboy that loves to practice martial arts and she would constantly get into fights.
But Braedon never knew that she would focus more on her own cultivation than her appearance and manners for a few years either. This didn't affect her beauty much in the end though. Not only was she considered a genius for her speed in practice, but her beauty earned her the title of "Battle Fairy".
She was famous for being able to defeat a group of three people with the same cultivation as her, and her flawless looks and fairy like movements added on to this image. Her voice was always in a whisper, which gave the feeling of her being shy, but her eyes showed off her mischievous side that a shy fairy shouldn't have.
Braedon remembered that when they were younger, Mei Jia used to play pranks on Zan Fu and him all of the time. If she wasn't having martial arts matches with Zan Fu, the she would have hidden traps, buckets of water, and even hidden holes hidden around to mess with them.
To Braedon, who had met her while she was still pretending to be a normal person in front of him, she just seemed like a "fun" older sister. But to others, she must've seemed like a perfect cultivator.
"Mei Jia? It's been a long time hasn't it." Braedon was still happy to find an old friend to appear here. He came over and gave her a big hug. Mei Jie smiled and whispered quietly to him after he released her, "Oooh, you are becoming brave. Doing something like that in public." She blew a stream of hot air into his ear and Braedon quickly backed away.
"C'mon, don't make me seem like a pervert or something." Braedon said while rubbing the back of his head.
Zan Fu laughed at their interaction and introduced Braedon to the other five people in their group. The two other girls were actually twins. One of the girls, Hui Hui, was wearing a tight jeans along with a plain white shirt and jacket. The other girl, Hui Shui, was wearing a cheongsam.
Both were happily standing next to each other and speaking to Zan Li, Zan Fu's cousin on his dad's side and was known as the scholarly genius. Zan Li's talent in cultivating was only above average in the cultivation world, but his knowledge was incredibly vast.
There were several people he personally trained, whose potential was unlocked and became powerful experts in their respected groups. All of them were loyal to Zan Li and constantly gave him resources to cultivate with.
Many groups have actually been willing to hire him as a tutor for their children and such, but he rejected them all in order to focus on his own cultivation.
The last two boys were aquaintences of Mei Jia and Zan Li. Qing Lei was Mei Jia's aquaintance and he seemed a bit off. He didn't interact with the others and only listened to Mei Jia's command. Once in a while, Braedon would catch Qing Lei giving him a hostile look. Anyone with a brain could figure out the reason, so Braedon didn't really mind much. As long as Qing Lei didn't get in Braedon's way, he wouldn't do anything to him.
On the other hand was Rong Jie, someone who was only here to protect Zan Li. He didn't speak much but he seemed like a nice guy.
They prepared themselves with healing pills, armors, and weapons. Braedon seemed out of place with only a knife in his hand, but he didn't care about his image much.
The others worried about his safety somewhat, but they just mostly worried about whether he would slow them down or not. Zan Fu vouched for him and assured them that he wouldn't impede their progressed. They all moved into the dungeon quickly and killed everything they saw in their path. Braedon noticed that some people around them would also peel away the skin, nails, and hair of the monsters they killed. When Braedon asked Zan Fu about this, he explained that monster body parts are great for forging armor. The higher the quality, the stronger the armor.
The dungeon was six floors deep plus the boss room. From how deep the dungeon was, it was predicted that the boss would be at the seventh realm at least. Fighting someone in the seventh realm was barely doable with superior number of people. But if it was a monster in the eighth realm, then they could only wait for their death.
Braedon felt an eerie feeling as if someone was watching them. They had just reached the third floor of the dungeon and had just killed several monsters in the third realm and one in the fourth. Braedon drew the monsters attention while the others would kill them.
He wasn't as strong as the others, but the events in the dark tunnel gave him all the experience he needed to survive any of the monsters. It also allowed him to be able to find the creature weak points due to them all surprisingly being similar creature to the one in the tunnel.
Braedon small actions actually improved his standing in the group very quickly. They thought he was just here to lee h off of them at first, but it turns out that he was actually incredibly useful. This just increased the reputation of the group due to their speed of clearing monsters.
Braedon stopped carving out materials from the monster and looked behind him.
The twin Hui Hui noticed his strange reaction and asked. "Is everything okay?"
Braedon nodded his head and smiled, "Of course." But secretly he whispered to her, "Someone with hostile intentions are following us, tell the others."
Hui Hui quickly nodded and quickened her pace to Zan Fu and Mei Jia. After a few seconds, the two walked over to Braedon, "Do you know who they are or how many?"
Braedon said he didn't and asked what they should do.
"We try running and if we can't, we fight simple as that. But Braedon are you absolutely sure that they are our enemies?" Mei Jia trusted Braedon, but she just had to make sure.
"Yes one hundred percent."
Zan Fu nodded and said, "Then let's go." He rusher over to the others and explained the situation. They all ran forward at full speed to see what would happen. Suddenly faint shadows appeared all around them.
Their strengths weren't very powerful a few in the second realm, about five in the third, and two in the fourth. They were being chased by twenty people in all and one of them no one could even sense the strength of.
It was obvious that escape currently was not an option, so Zan Fu ran to a place where he believed people would pass by and stopped his movements.
The others followed his example and stood their ground as well.
Mei Jia steppes forward and screamed at the shadows that surrounded them, "Who are you and what business do you have with us?"
The person that no one could sense the power of stepped forward. He looked young and his body was quite thin. He was kind of small but that didn't take away from the intimidating aura coming from him.
He looked at the group and said in a sinister tone of voice, "The Yi family sends their best regards."
His men then pulled out several types of knives and weapons from their sheathes. One of the men stepped forward and bowed toward the young man, "Young mistress, we have secured the area. No one will be interrupting our mission."
The person they called nodded his head in satisfaction. He raised up his sword and said, "Kill them all!"
Knowing that they were the targets of some sort of scheme, Zan Fu yelled out to the others, "Prepare for battle everyone!"
And the two groups clashed together in battle.
