Braedon sat in the grass with Kai Jun laying down beside him. They looked up to the shooting stars in the sky. Every time one flew passed them another took its place, it was a meteor shower.
This was one of the few moments that Braedon enjoyed the most. In the month and a half that he has been here, he almost never had a break. On a wonderful night like this, resting was the best gift he had ever received.
"Enjoy this night Braedon, tomorrow we are going to double your training difficulty." Tears slowly streamed down Braedon's face as he fell asleep that night.
The next morning Braedon was brought into a large crater that could probably fit several dozen houses inside of it, "What are we doing here?" Once he finished saying this, a large herd of monsters popped out of the ground and started to roam around the area.
They looked like rhinoceroses except they had scales and tusks as big and thick as both of his legs together. They were around the same size but were also colored red instead. Hey moved surprisingly gracefully though, with little to no sound at all.
They dug into the hard soil and pulled out tiny creature found there. They would immediately kill and eat the creatures. They surrounded the crater.
Braedon turned to Kai Jun with a questioning gaze and he responded by saying, "Those are your targets."
Braedon didn't understand what he meant by that and asked what Kai Jun was talking about. He said simply that his mission, was to hunt down and kill all of the monsters in the crater.
"Are you insane!? Is this one of your sick perverted jokes again?"
"Not this time, Braedon. This time if you succeed in killing these creature, you will gain a significant boost in power." Braedon grudgingly slid down into the giant hole and hid behind a nearby rock. "How does killing one of these things make me stronger?"
While he was distracted, one of the monster somehow snuck up behind him. Kai Jun noticed this and started to call out, "Brae-" he though to himself for a second and decided to just watch how it plays out.
Before Braedon knew what hit him, the monster charged at him. It crashed directly into his back and sent him flying back like a rag doll. Braedon got up as quick as he possibly could, but the attack brought such a shock that he was paralyzed for a few seconds.
This was more than enough time for the beasts to step back and charge at him again with full force.
Braedon got up just in time and jumped to the side with all of his might, he narrowly missed the creature. When it traveled passed him, he noticed that the area around its eyes and jaws were unguarded by scales.
After spotting this, Braedon made a decision. When the creature reared up in preparation to charge at him, he stood his ground. When it ran toward him the third time, Braedon waited until the last second before jumping up and landing on top of it's head.
Once he landed on top, he used his feet to cover its eyes and made it thrash around wildly. It crashed into the walls of the crater a few times and almost knocked him off, but he held on.
Just before it was about to crash into the wall again, he stabbed a makeshift knife he made out of branches and rocks in the forest, into the creatures eyes. It was more like a shortsword than a knife since it was as long as his forearm.
He plunged the weapon deep into its head, Braedon unleashed his cultivation and started to stir it around like he was making cake batter. The body of the creature below went limp and he quickly jumped off to the side.
He was proud of how he dealt with the situation, but his problems were just beginning. The place where he landed was in the middle of a group of five the same creatures.
He bolted up like lightning this time and ran for dear life. When he looked behind him, the number of beasts chasing after him had quadrupled and they looked angry. He ran to the wall and tried climbing back up, but it was too steep and he only wasted time.
"HEELLLLPPPPP!" Kai Jun laughed as he watched this cartoonish scene. When Braedon called out for assistance, he jumped down, grabbed him by the collar, and hopped right back up the crater.
When they landed, Braedon knelt on the ground and started to kiss it, "I miss you earth." Kai Jun corrected him by saying that they were not on earth.
Braedon on the other hand looked at him with murderous intent, "THAT was suppose to make ME stronger?! Are you sure it wasn't to turn me into food for those things?" Kai Jun lifted him up by the arm.
"You are focusing too much on the small details. It wasn't like you could die anyway!"
"Wait, you mean I can't die as I am now?" Kai Jun nodded his head, "Of course not, you're basically a ghost... but you can be dispersed and scattered into nothingness." Braedon's arm was swung at his face a second later, but it missed.
"You are becoming more violent these days."
"Oh, BUG OFF!" It took him thirty minutes before he could calm himself down. Kai Jun walked up to him and said, "I am just saying, you were a bit too angry to notice but look at your own strength before anything."
He looked at his own strength and noticed a 0.1% increase in power storage. Usually this would be almost unnoticeable, but due to his current body's predicament even something this small was noticed.
"Every time you kill a monster, some of its strength enters into you. The ones you killed before were so weak that they actually did nothing to your power. Now though, you have thousands, maybe tens or hundreds of thousand if power boosters rights here!"
Kai Jun words echoed in Braedon's ears like a snake, "Your goal is to kill all of them by next year. Don't disappoint me."
Braedon was worried by his words though, "Wait! Year? I can't stay here for a year. What about my friends or family? They must be worried sick."
Kai Jun shushed him down before answering, "When your soul left your body, all of the mortals who have ever met you will forget about you. It is only temporary until you return and as for the time situation, that is easy to solve as well. In this world the time ratio is 10:1 meaning ten years in here is one out there. In other words one year here is only like a month out there. Don't worry, everything is in your favor."
With these facts assuring him safe training, Braedon quieted down and looked into the crater. "What do I do now?"
"Now? Now you go back in." And Kai Jun jump kicked him down the hole again.
