Braedon slowly opened the box and looked at the contents. He rubbed his hands together with a strange smile on his face. "Considering it's Zan Fu, these are probably not that great. But this is exactly what I pictured when I think of cultivating. Pills, clans, and techniques haha how exciting!"

Just before Braedon was out to use one, he thought of something, "Glode, can these pills be used to help someone of old age, cultivate?" Glode thought about for a minute and said, "I wouldn't suggest it. The reason most people train at a young age isn't just to get more time to practice. As a child, your body is filled with some type of force called "true essence". This protects and stabilizes your body as is goes under tempering and strengthening."

"After a certain age, your body eventually loses its true essence. Practice under these condition can lead to fatal injuries. You usually lose it at age twelve but you were lucky enough to meet me, I used my body as a replacement for "true essence" and although you had to go through more difficulties than most people, you had a much higher chance of surviving than others." Glode carefully explained.

Braedon nodded but he still had to figure out how to explain things to them. Then he thought of another person in his family, his baby sister. Braedon's parents had him at quite the young age, and seventeen years later they decided suddenly to have another child.

Luckily both his mom and dad where the only children in their family, so they could have one more child. Now at age eighteen Braedon had a ten months old baby sister. He was thinking that if he tried, he could probably get her started in cultivation at an early age... how interesting that would be.

He shook his head quickly and thought of the more pressing matter, "If my parents can't cultviate them, what do I do?" Glode stayed silent for awhile and then a lightbulb (metaphorically) appeared above his head.

"A part of my memories say that cultivators at the seventh stage have the ability to impart a small tidbit of their powers onto others. Plus there are many other rare types but of medicines and treasures that can increase the lifespan of their users. If we find these treasures and got you to the seventh level, then we can probably help out your family!"

Braedon's eyes lit up and he excitedly clenched his fist, "Then I have a goal, we need to get me to the sixth stage and then we will find your other half. We should try to achieve this as quickly as possible."

Glode nodded and recorded this scene into his memories.

~~~~~~~~~~
Far into the future this scene will be replayed to the cultivators all over the world. That day would be known as The First Day of the "King's Thousand Days Conquest" initiated by the Phoenix King. Although this is a story for another time.
Braedon looked to Glode and asked if there was any way to increase the speed of his practice. Currently, Braedon was at the first stage, first minor level. His technique provided five minor levels in the first stage. To break through them, Braedon needed to practice his technique and allow the energy to flow through certain points found throughout his body.
The points were found on his feet, his hands, over his heart, on his forehead, and his back. Inside of each of these were tiny seeds that only Braedon could sense. These seeds contained his powers and he could only break through the minor level once he fed enough power into the seed to allow it to bloom.
Becoming a first stage cultivator immediately bloomed the seed in his forehead, the beak seed. The next thing he needed to do was unlock the seed in his feet, the claw seed; then hands, the feather seed; heart, heart seed, and finally his back, the wings seed.
Once all of these were unlocked, then he could break through to the second stage. Right now his practice was slightly slow, but he had something else to worry about.
"I totally forgot, I'm about to be late for my classes!" Braedon ran out at full speed and rushed toward his school. Braedon felt that he was a bit slow and decided to take a small shortcut he knew of. Usually people shouldn't be able to reach the shortcut, since they had to make a huge leap across two buildings. But now with his current strength, Braedon could barely make it across.
He tripped once he landed and immediately bounced on the ground a few times. His speed carried him only a short distance, but it was far enough for him to crash into a strange wall, "Gah!" Luckily he wasn't moving too fast or he might've broken his skull.
Braedon stood up in a daze and looked at what he crashed into. It looked like a cave except it's walls were smooth and strange designs were drawn on it. It looked extremely suspicious but Braedon's curiosity wouldn't let him just leave it alone.
He walked close to the entrance of the cave and stuck his head in. As he looked around, he noticed a strange coin half buried in the floor of the cave. He walked over and attempted to pull it out but it wouldn't budge.
Braedon pulled a bit harder but it barely moved at all. He used all of his strength, until his face became red and he felt the coin give way a little. As he kept pullin, the cave around him started to glow, but he was too concentrated on the coin to notice.
Braedon finally succeeded in ripping the coin from the ground and the cave immediately stopped glowing. Instead Braedon noticed that the coin started to glow and as Braedon walked closer to the back of the cave, the coin grew brighter.
"Braedon, you're going to be late." Glode reminded him of an important matter, and Braedon pushed his curiosity to the back of his head and rushed to school.
He got there just in time and sat in his seat. Braedon released a breath of exhasperation while Xiao Hagen sat there and watched him. "You seem a bit tired, is everything okay?" Braedon just nodded and said that he was busy with a personal project last night and wasn't checking the time.
They spent the day being taught new materials. Braedon didn't pay much attention to it. This was not because he didn't care, but because no matter what he heard or read, he memorized it easily and comprehended it with little effort.
The day went by quickly and Braedon decided to take a few seconds to ask Xiao Hagen something, "Hey, what do you think it would be like if cultivation, like in webnovels, was real?"
Xiao Hagen thought about it for a split second before saying, "It would be incredibly awesome, but it wouldn't be that widespread today."
Braedon asked why it wouldn't be widespread and Xiao Hagen quickly replied, "Today, much of what we have and know is thanks to science. If something unscientific like monsters and cultivators existed then the world would plunge into chaos. Sometimes, information on wars is kept away from the masses. This (hopefully) isn't because the news publisher want to have secret information all to themselves, it's to keep the people from having mass panic."
Originally Braedon wanted to bring Xiao Hagen into cultivation. But his words made him rethink the matter. If Xiao Hagen knew this, his liver would've been green with regret. Braedon still planned to bring him into cultivation in the future, but the more he thought of it the more he thought it was foolish of him to attempt that now.
After all with his strength, he would just lead them on the wrong path. He wants for his friends and family's path of cultivation to be simple and easy. He wished for them to just live together, without many hardships or danger.
Of course he would allow his friends to face some difficulties. After all, good growth always needs a catalyst and danger is just the perfect catalyst. As for his family, he wouldn't do that for his parents but what about his sister?
Ideas and plans popped into his head one after another. As he walked on autopilot, he arrived in front of the cave again. He didn't even noticed until he bumped into its smooth walls.
Now that the panic of school wasn't overwhelming him, his curiosity rose up once more. He took out the coin and walked far back into the cave. As the coin shined blindingly bright, steps formed on the floor of the cavern.
From the stairs, an enourmous pressure shot out. The force of the pressure blasted Braedon back. He bounced a few times on the ground before quickly getting back up and looking at the hole in shock, "What is that?"
Glode, who was not affected by the pressure, flew over to him. "Braedon, I think this was the thing your friend's parents were talking about. It's a dungeon!"
Dungeons were areas filled to the brim with monster, but hidden deep in them were incredibly rare and powerful artifacts. Artifacts are weapons or equipment used by high ranking cultivators of the past. Usually they were very powerful and the top three clans of the city held their positions due to each of them having their own powerful artifact as a deterrent to others.
Dungeons would usually appear then disappear unless their key was obtained. The key was the only thing that could unlock the doors to enter the dungeon. If the key left the vicinity of the doorway, it would close. Anyone inside when the doors close would be assured death.
No one knew where dungeons came from but it was a well known fact that owners of dungeon keys were assured riches beyond their wildest dreams. Braedon on the other hand looked at the coin in his hand and understood what it was, "F*ck! Curse my bad luck!"
To a powerful clan or cultivator, a dungeon was a dream come true. Now to someone at the first stage, who is also the owner of the key, it was a death sentence.
Sweat flowed down Braedon's forehead like a river and he felt as if he could hear footsteps approaching him. Braedon's mind raced as he thought of his options. Maybe he could just drop it and run? No, even if the dungeon is a death sentence, if he played his cards right, it could become a huge source of income.
Maybe he could explore it himself? But he was too weak and he most likely wouldn't get far. Maybe he could hide the key? But he probably would somehow leave behind some tracks that would lead cultivators back to him or to where the key was hidden.
Then there was only one option left.
Zan Rong's words quickly rang in his ears, "If somehow you find anything good that you don't need, you can sell it to us for cultivation materials."
Braedon carefully looked at the coin in his hand while a worried smile slowly appeared on his face, "Actually, my luck doesn't seem that bad today."
