Zan Fu lied in bed unconscious. It has been two weeks since the battle with the weakened divinity had occurred and in all that time Zan Fu had yet to awaken.

The members of the branch families, which he had saved from the Gaian Worm, returned after seeing the clash between a strange beam of light and the giant fireball. They made sure that a battle was not occurring before they investigated the area in search of Zan Fu.

They found him unconscious in an area surrounding by destroyed buildings and broken terrains. They carried him back to the house of the main family, which at first attacked them after assuming that they had killed the young master.

They explained all that happened in the abandoned area with the clan head to the best of their ability. Although they were able to talk about their capture and release, they realized that their ull memories of what Zan Fu did was a bit fuzzy and they couldn't really explain what happened after that.

After checking to see if anything was wrong with his body, the doctors that Zan Rong had hired have stated something strange, "the life force in his right arm appears to have been forcibly sucked away. If he had lost anymore, not only would that hand shrivel up like a dead tree but the condition of his entire body could have reached a level of critical danger."

It was suggested that they gave him time to rest and recuperate. The life force that he had lost was slowly coming back but it was said that he wouldn't have the same amount as he did originally.

A thorough investigation of the incident was brought about as they tried to figure out who the mysterious man was, but no trace of him was found or left behind. If it wasn't for the many eyewitnesses the family had, they would've doubted if this man even existed.

Shu Rong gloomily sat besides the bed that Zan Fu was sleeping peacefully in. Her men had also been sent out to find out what happened but like the others, they found nothing.

Over the past two weeks she would sit by him everyday and watch as a maid came in to feed him some food. Eventually she herself requested to take over this job and began feeding him porridge everyday for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Her feelings about her actions were very conflicting. She knew that she didn't owe him anything nor was she filled with guilt since it wasn't her fault that he went the abandoned area or anything like that. So Shu Rong didn't understand why she would waste her time sitting by this idiot and spoon feeding him.

She didn't understand, yet she still kept doing it for a week and a half. It was a strange experience for her, but not one that she didn't like.

When she really thought about it, this was the first time she had ever nursed someone back to health. While being the leader of the New Shu Assassins, she was always told to remain cold and heartless. She was never allowed to show her weaknesses, even the weakness of caring for her subordinates.

She even forced her underlings to refer to her as a male to achieve to hide the fact that she was a young girl. Which now that she thought about it, this was probably where Zan Fu's misconception came from. Although by now he should've figured out the truth, right?

While feeding him his dinner, Shu Rong brought a chair over and sat on his right side. She lifted up his arm and looked at it thoroughly to inspect its condition. The arm was healing very well.

Although it wasn't completely shriveled up like a dried worm when he first appeared in front of them, it was still in terrible condition and was in what looked like a state of decay. It was painful to look at, and she couldn't help but wonder what could've done such a thing to him.

Now that his limb was almost completely healed, she began to notice small details about them. Fist of all were Zan Fu's long slender fingers and perfectly cleaned nails, which were surprisingly feminine. His hand was soft like a marshmallow and his skin was shocking smooth.

In a shy manner she began to place her face against his hand, although something inside of her was screaming that what she was doing was not right.

He felt like a comfortable pillow that she could sleep in forever and as time passed with her head pressed against his hand, she drifted off to sleep. And for the first time in years, her dreams weren't filled with thoughts of revenge or her burning home and family screaming to run.

Instead her dreams were filled with...

The next morning Zan Fu felt a bright beam of light shine behind his eyelids. His body felt completely refreshed but he still had that morning grogginess and feeling of not wanting to wake up, even if he couldn't fall back to sleep.

He just stayed there with his eyes closed for a few seconds. He finally decided to get up but as soon as he tried to sit up, he felt something tug on his right arm.

As he looked down, he saw Shu Rong sleeping right beside him cuddling up with his arm. While he was about to reach down and wake her up, he stopped himself and pulled Shu Rong's hair aside.

Despite everything, he really did have a beautiful face, "I need to get these dangerous thoughts out of my head." As he waited patiently for Shu Rong to wake up, he held up his other hand and pointed it forward.

He felt the "heaven's force" inside of him gather into his palm. The power slowly faded away and disappear. This repeated no matter how many times he released his strength.

After the thirteenth time he attempted to bring out the "heaven's force" inside of him, he gave up. It was just as predicted by Drodon, he couldn't use "heaven's force" in the same way anymore.

After a few more minute, Shu Rong gave a start as he looked up drowsily while drool dripped out of his mouth. As he regained his senses and began to look around, Shu Rong finally noticed Zan Fu staring at him.

He froze for a second and Zan Upfu gave off a bright smile, "Rise and shine sleepyhead."

Shu Rong's face flushed red in embarrassment as she quickly released the hand in her grasp and ran off screaming.

Zan Rong and Mei Ling came in soon after to figure out what just happened and were surprised to see Zan Fu awake and well. After talking and explaining the situation, Zan Fu tried to explain that he couldn't currently use "heaven's force" as his parents and Shu Rong, who returned to the room after getting herself together, listened in their faces grew solemn.

"Zan Fu, I don't know what to say. Is there anything we can do."

His parents stayed silent after remembering the trauma of what happened so long ago in the past to him. Shu Rong asked this question worriedly as he held Zan fu's Hand in his own.

With a soft shake of his head, he simply said that there was a chance of regaining his strength. They didn't need to worry about him.

Everyone left the room soon after saying that they should give him more time to rest.

Once everyone was finally gone, Drodon appeared in front of him and in a mirthful voice he said, "you've already noticed haven't you?"

A wide, toothy grin appeared on Zan Fu's face as he lifted up his hand once more. No matter how much Drodon or he himself looked, there was not a single trace of "heaven's force".

Instead, what now covered his hand was an extremely thing and almost insignificant layer of blue energy.

"It's definitely isn't as strong as my original cultivation was, but maybe this isn't so bad after all?"

The blue energy radiated from his body as a clear scan of Zan Fu was given by Drodon.
