Braedon and Zan Fu watched patiently as their forces began to overtake the enemy. After the battle between Zan Rong and Weiceng Shuguo ended, Kai Jun told everyone to prepare themselves because he was bringing the cage down. Everyone inside the granite spires, held up their weapons and readied themselves to charge out and defeat the whoever was left surrounding them.

The cage returned into the ground and everyone ran out screaming, hacking, and slashing at everyone who was not their ally. Bodies began to pile up as the group destroyed the remaining forces of what used to be an army. Two thousand became one thousand, one thousand became three hundred, and three hundred became two hundred prisoners.

The battle finally ended with Zan Fu's army coming out victorious. But although they won the battle, the war was not over yet. Not only that but they also lost more than half of their forces with only fifty-seven injured warriors remaining.

Braedon fell back onto the ground and began breathing heavily. Kai Jun looked around carefully in order to make sure that they didn't miss any enemies. Everyone else sat down next to Braedon except for Zan Fu who wasn't tired at all, "You seem to be in great shape, Zan Fu."

Zan Fu looked over and gave off a wink, "That's because unlike the rest of you, I didn't need to focus on defense at all. And the reason for that is thanks to this armor," he knocked on the metal tiles hanging off his chest, "This is some sort of defensive artifact that my parents got from that dungeon you sold to us so long ago, remember that?"

A small chuckle escaped Braedon's lips as he leaned back and allowed himself to get lost in his past, "That felt like years ago, but it's technically only been a few week, huh?"

"The most unbelievable thing is that within those few weeks, your strength has grown substantially!" Zan Fu opened his eyes wide after realizing that Braedon almost matched his strength in their earlier exchange, "It took me years to become this strong, yet you've only been cultivating for a short amount of time, what's your secret?"

The only response that Zan Fu got back from Braedon was a shrug and lifeless eyes. Those eyes pointed in Kai Jun's direction, which made Zan Fu wonder who he really was. They spent some time resting there, until a group of men came over towards the group. Mei Ling was leading the. And she smiled when she saw her son sitting there without a scratch on him.

A look of murderous intent suddenly escaped from her body as her eyes slid over to Braedon's direction, but this intent left just as soon as it came. Mei Ling wasn't someone who was blinded by anger and then make terrible decisions. No, she instead took in the full scene and figured out that the person sitting next to her son was not the being who invaded her house in the past.

She figured this out by the fact that her son was not attacking him right at that moment. Although he could be...dense... in some aspects, he was definitely not a fool. He wasn't a fool, right? The fact that she had to ask that question to herself made her worry a bit for Zan Fu's future.

She also didn't sense the same weird feeling she got from the being that was possession Braedon's body. The only question she had to ask herself was, "Who is the person who is sitting next to Zan Fu currently."

She walked over slowly to her son and gave off a bit of her aura. Zan Fu turned around to find his mother standing there smiling at him, "Hello mother."

"Hi Zan Fu, it seems that you've cleaned up the enemies here quite nicely. Tell me though, who are these new, and seemingly old, friends you have with you today?"

Zan Fu rubbed the back of his head a bit as he tried to explain what he could. He introduced everyone to his mom and dad, who appeared a few minutes later, and told them about how heand braedon reunited in such strange manner. Of course he left out a few details due to it being... unnecessary information.

As the story finished, Zan Fu asked Braedon where he has been and what he's been doing all this time. After asking Kai Jun if he could tell everyone, Braedon went into a tale of how he was in a different dimension fighting insane creatures and monsters that increased his strength whenever he killed them. He talked about the tower, the different realms, and meeting with a real life dragon.

It took him a while, but after he finished the story Mei Ling looked at him with a funny look in he eyes, "If you don't want to tell us what you e been up to lately, the. You don't have to give us such a silly story. We will understand if you want to keep your private life to yourself."

"But everything I just said is true!"

Even Zan Rong shook his head lightly, "Really? Different worlds, shadowy beings, ghosts! It sounds like you've just been mixing up a bunch of different trope that you would find in those strange novels and throwing them all together. Things like that don't exist Braedon, you don't have to keep lying."

Braedon was looking back and forth between everyone in shock. They really though he was making this whole thing up! "I'm serious, look at my hand!" He waved his ar around to show how when he moved at a certain speed, they could see through him, "See! I'm see through, I'm basically a ghost."

"Astral forms are very common things in the cultivation world. There is a huge difference between being a ghost, something dead that came back from the grave, and being an astral projection, something alive that took on a ghostlike form." This time it was Zan Fu who laughed out at his story and just shook his head, "Let's just move on and complete what we came here to do. You don't have to tell us anything Braedon. Just from that stupid story, I am sure it's you."

The others nodded and stood up one by one. Zan Rong turned to his men and waved his arm away, signaling them to return to the base and heal up, both he and Mei Ling would handle things from there.

At first the loyal warriors were hesitant to leave the leader of their clan there alone without anyone to guard them, but then the realization struck that it was more likely for Zan ring and Mei Ling to guard the warriors themselves. With this thought in mind, they bowed down to the couple and returned to headquarters.

The group consisting of Zan Rong, Mei Ling, Zan Fu, Shu Rong, Braedon, Blue, Jingyi Lei, and Kai Jun all prepped themselves for the battlecoming ahead. After being introduced to Blue's past, Zan Rong and Mei Ling were a bit skeptical about him, but they decided to bring him along anyway. Thanks to his help, they were all able to avoid the traps and dead ends that would've filled them before, and made swift progress towards their targets.

After walking for around half an hour, they came upon a pathway that split into two balls.

"Blue, which one do we travel to?"

Blue, "..."

"Blue?"

Blue, "I don't know. This is something that was added recently. It wasn't here the last time I checked."

Zan Rong, "So you don't know which path will lead us to the boss?"

Blue shook his head in response and tried to think of which path to take. But he didn't need to think long before Mei Ling has a different idea, "We need to split up."

"What why?" Zan Fu was surprised by his mother's request and immediately wuesrioned her on her decision. Zan Rong looked up at his wife and stared deep into her eyes before nodding in understanding, "She is right. We don't know which path will lead us to the right room, so we might as well try splitting up here and hoping for the best. Don't worry about us kids, we grown ups can take care of ourselves just fine, so we'll take the path of the right and you'll all take the path of the left, okay?"

Although Zan Fu and a few others didn't like the idea, there was no changing Zan Rong's decision. The group spilt into two and each took different paths down into the hall, Zan Fu looked back towards where his parents once stood in confusion.

"Is something wrong, Zan Fu?" Shu Rong stepped up right beside him and question in a soft tone of voice.

"It's just that... they were plotting something. I don't know what, but I can tell when they have a secret agenda." Zan Fu answered seriously spaniel Shu Rong smiled sweetly, "Awww, look at the spoiled price already missing his parents." This broke the serious mood a bit as Zan Fu laughed and push Shu Rong away playfully, "Shut up."

The two people heard Braedon scream ahead for them to hurry up and they moved along quickly without looking back again.

Zan Rong and Mei Ling we're walking down the path without much trouble occurring, "You felt that too, right?" Mei Ling questioned her husband if he noticed what she did and he answered with a nod, "I don't know what is down this path, but it is freakishly strong. I'm not sure if even I could handle it."

"You don't need to worry about that, honey. After all your not fighting alone, we are fighting together."

Zan ring nodded at his wife's words and asked, "Do you really think those kids can handle whatever was down the other hallway. I know that compared to this one, the other one is nothing but that doesn't mean that whatever those kids are facing is weak. I'm a little worried about them."

"I know Zan Rong, I am too but there is no choice now. If they knew that what was down here was this powerful, do you think they would let us go alone? At the very least Zan Fu would not. We are doing this in order to protect him. I don't know what they will face, but I can only hope and pray that thy will come out all right. Besides, that Kai Jun person will be along with them. And to be honest, he is giving me some dangerous vibes."

"You're right, and if I'm also being completely honest, the. I have to say two things. One, I have the strange feeling that if we fight, he would win. And two, something about him...kind of scares me." Zan ring shook his head lightly, "I don't know why but it is almost as if my instincts are yelling at me to beware of who he is. All I know is, I hope he is on our side."

"As do I."
