The group, consisting of everyone plus Zan Rong, waited at the fork in the path where they all originally split up. They all waited patiently for around half and hour before Mei Ling finally arrived dragging an unresponsive body behind her.

Zan Fu looks over to his mother with concern as he noticed that her appearance had changed a little. He opened his mouth, about to comment on the sight, but before a single sound could escape his mouth, Zan Rong slammed his shell in the back of his son's head in order to silence him.

Zan Fu's body slammed into the ground as Zan Rong walked over to his wife while rubbing the back of his head, "I see you finished that battle quickly. I'm glad that you're safe, sweetie." Zan Rong was about to reach for the body of the supposed refinement elder, but Mei Ling blocked his hand, "No, I want to personally interrogate him myself. But I must say that it is quite convenient that he ends up in our hands, either we are very lucky or this guy tricked us. In which case, I'll happily deal with the body..."

After their little talk, Zan Rong decided to obediently give his wife some space and tell her what he bought later on. Zan Fu on the other hand woke up after a few seconds after being attacked from behind. He pushed himself off the ground and looked around a bit dazed, "Wha-what happened to me? Mother! Your hair, what ha-" once again Zan Rong's shell knocked him out cold. This happened a few more times after that with Zan Fu constantly forgetting what happened and falling into the same trap over and over again.

It finally stopped after they all returned to the Zan Clan's main base, but Zan Fu never really did learn the reason why there was a painful swelling on the back of his head.

Mei Ling brought the man who claimed to be the refinement elder to a room with sound proof walls in order to... muffle the screams. Braedon and his friends would stay with Zan Fu and the others for a while after that. When Zan Fu mentioned that Shu Rong was staying in his house, Braedon have him a strange look that pissed him off a bit. This look would reappear everytime Braedon saw Shu Rong and Zan Fu in the same room. Although this made him mad, it made him even more shy for some reason

Blue spent some time telling what he knew to Kai Jun and Zan Rong whenever he got the chance, and the information he gave was compared to what was collected from their captive. Most of the info matched up, but there was a few small differences which could be explained by the fact that Blue's rank in the guild wasn't very high.

After extracting whatever they could from both Blue and the captive, they all discovered something shocking...

~~~~~~~~~~
The Divinity who fought against Zan Fu long ago was now on the run. He looked behind him in fear of the two people coming after his life.
One of his pursuers was Phoen, the entity who robbed Braedon of his body, and the other was someone the Divinity had never seen before. The Divinity has fought against Phoen before and the end of the battle didn't go so well for him, but even so he wasn't afraid to face Phoen head on.
What he was afraid of however was the man who was assisting Phoen at the moment. His power was grand and the Divinity felt as if his pursuer's strength was equal to his own at the peak of his power. What was more frightening was the fact that this man listened to every word Phoen said. It was like Phoen's words were law to him.
The Divinity hopped over another building and turned around in order to release a long range strike. He held out his arm and a miniature fireball formed inside of it. While shooting it at his pursuers, the Divinity stopped his movements and dropped down onto the ground. After that, he began to run on foot instead of jumping over buildings so that it would be more difficult to find him with the busy streets and civilians surrounding him.
Phoen and the other man held out their arms in order to block the fireball. Phoen gave off a short as he looked down and searched for the Divinity. When he couldn't find him, Phoen released his power in a wide area and made it so that the people around him began to slow in their movements.
After practicing for a few weeks, he mastered a bit more of his blue energy. Now he could spread its effects over an incredibly large range, but if the range surpassed a certain distance then the effects would weaken by a margin. He didn't mind this though, as all he needed to do was buy himself a little time.
Phoen and his partner began to search the ground from a high point of view. They didn't think that Phoen's ability would truly disrupt the Divinity's movements in any way. The reason why they did this was so that it would be easy to find a figure moving much quicker than everyone surrounding him in this slowed down field.
And just as they predicted, there was a single figure moving swiftly past all of the frozen mortal beside him. They jumped down in order to chase after him without a second of hesitation.
The Divinity looked behind him to find that Phoen and his partner were still hot on his tail. He was still injured from his fight with Zan Fu and the fight with Phoen before that one. They both were slowly catching up to him and the Divinity was slowly running out of options.
He was considering using another giant fireball in order to threaten them away. Before he could do this however, a woman in a sort of secretary suit appeared out of nowhere and struck at his neck. The Divinity was frightened and instinctively dodged the sneak attack without much difficulty. In the split second he dodged the attack he was able to sense the cultivation of the girl before him. She was only in the peak of the fifth realm.
The thought, "What was the use of having her attack me?" Flowed through his head as he knew that an attack from someone of that cultivation, even with top notch weapons, wouldn't really cause much harm to him. The answer to his question blew his head away, literally. As in the time that he stopped running in order to dodge the attack, Phoen's partner came in and sliced his head clean off his body.
His last thought was how unfair his ending was. He deserved better than this!
As the corpse of the Divinity fell to the ground, a blood red orb popped out of its robe and began to fly away. Phoen's eyes glowed with greed as he charged after it and reached out in order to grab the orb, "MINE!"
His hand clasped around the objects smooth surface and a look of ecstasy appeared onto Phoen's face. "You are mine now, give me the other half of the training technique that you are hiding away, little core!"
Phoen spoke to the orb in a weird language that the secretary and the man, who stood at his side, didn't understand. To them it only sounded like a bunch of clicks and gurgles. The orb began to vibrate at a certain frequency as similar sounds began to come from it. The two people didn't understand what was being said, but they understood that whatever it was was incredibly important to Phoen for him to have such a giddy expression on his face.
"Son of the first great being, what a disgrace you are. My host was supposed to be a test for the successors, yet in your greed not only did you kill the test, you stole something that doesn't belong to you! Do you have no pride?" The orb spoke in a serious tone of voice, that almost sounded angry.
Phoen just shook his head, "What is the purpose of pride? It didn't save my father when he breathed his last nor will it save me hundreds of years from now! All I want is the one thing that my father could never truly achieve, immortality. And the only way to obtain that is buy become this world's deity, now give me that technique or be destroyed!"
An electrical current flowed through the orb as it gave its response to Phoen's threat, "F*ck off." The orb shot a bold of lightning from its body into Phoen's arm. This shock broke through all of his defenses and placed Phoen into a great amount of pain. But no matter how much pain he was in, he didn't release the orb.
"Your power will be mine!" Phoen roared out in his strange language and his aura began to envelope the orb. But the blood red object didn't stop there, it gave off a final attack as a bird made completely out of flames erupted from its body and struck Phoen directly in his chest.
This, coupled with the lightning, proved to be too much for Phoen as his grip on the orb weakened and it was able to escape the vicinity. The secretary and the man were about to give chase, but Phoen held out his arm to stop them.
The man stayed quiet but the secretary ran up to him worriedly, "Why Don't you want us to give chase?"
Phoen gave off a devious smile as he looked at her directly in the eyes. A look of shock appeared on the secretary's face as she saw something strange in his eyes.
There were strange carving and marking covering the entire thing, almost blinding Phoen completely.
"Because in the split second that I held onto the orb, I was able to absorb some of its knowledge due to its connection with me. We have already obtained what we needed." Phoen began to laugh out loud as the sky darkened since something terrible had just happened.
"The legacy is finally mine! All mine!"
~~~~~~~~~~

The blood red orb flew as far away from Phoen as he possibly could. After stopping to rest for a while, it looked up into empty blue space only to find the sky begin to darken.

The orb, fully understanding what was happening, looked over in an almost random direction, "It looks like those successors are my last hope."

The orb rose up and shot forward in the direction of Zan Fu's house in order to find one certain person.
