"Never ever enter the inner depths."

Shi Li could feel that his father said this since he wanted him to be safe. Knowing this, he felt warm in his heart.

Shi Li nodded. "I promise Father that I will never ever enter the inner depths."

Thirty minutes later, near the entrance of the Shi clan.

Shi Li stood in front of a building that had two floors. Its exterior was made out of chiseled white stone, giving it a clean look. The entrance was four meters tall and five meters wide, allowing two people to walk side by side and still enter. On top of the entrance was a wooden sign that said…

'Shi clan Logistics Hall.'

Shi Li walked in and was greeted with a small surprise. The walls were made out of smooth marble, with exquisite paintings being placed here and there. Hanging from the ceiling were small chandeliers, giving the inside ample light. In the section farthest away from Shi Li, lied an L-shaped counter that reached up to the middle of Shi Li's chest. Behind the counter was a few shelves, having a few scrolls and placed within them.

Shi Li went up to the counter and tapped on the bell that was on it.

Ding!

In a short amount of time, a man around the age of 30 went up to the counter and saw Shi Li. He smiled and asked, "What can I do for you?"

Shi Li respectfully replied, "I want to go outside the clan and temper myself in the forest beside the clan. Fathe- I mean the patriarch told me that I should get a basic survival kit. Do you have any of those?"

The man recalled through his memories for a minute before nodding. "Indeed we do, since the patriarch told you to get a basic survival kit for that forest, I'll also give you some special information about the forest once I come back."

As Shi Li waited for the man to give him his items, he started to ponder.

'Why does Father want me to get a basic survival kit? Does he think that I wouldn't be able to catch some food and water?'

Back in his previous life, Shi Li went on company trips with his colleagues to the wilderness that forced them to catch their own food. Most of the time, they catched fish and some small prey. But one day, he shot a deer to death, splattering blood everywhere.

The sight of blood from the deer made him vomit and not have an appetite for a few days. But with more company trips to the wilderness, he shot more and more wildlife until he became numb to the sight of blood.

He still thought that bodybuilding was more interesting than killing though.

'Once I enter the outskirts of the forest, I should first start off with a weak beast before fighting stronger ones. Because I know for sure, that I'm not that experienced in terms of fighting.'

At the moment when Shi Li was finished contemplating, the man went back to the counter with a small satchel on his hand. He then gave it to Shi Li as he said, "Here's your basic survival kit."

Shi Li opened the satchel and examined its contents.

'Two gourds of water, a big amount of rations that would last me over a week if I ate sparingly, a map of the forest, and something that looks like an herb.'

He brought out the herb and asked the man, "What's this?"

The man responded, "That is a Beast Luring Herb. It's quite effective on luring beasts that range from not starting cultivation to those at the 1st stage of Skin Tempering at most."

Shi Li then understood as to why the herb was in the satchel. Since he was going on a tempering journey, there would be times that monsters would be scarce in the area, so the herb would solve that problem.

'What a unique herb. After I finish this journey, I should read more books about herbs in the library.'

The man continued to speak to Shi Li. "I told you before that I would tell you some special information about the forest, right?"

Remembering the man's statements earlier, Shi Li nodded.

"Well the forest is called the Forest of Ruin. The monsters there range from the mortal beasts to those at the peak of Organ Tempering, allow those beasts to utilize life energy."

Shi Li shuddered as he heard this. If he were to fight against a beast at the peak of Organ Tempering, he would be minced meat for sure.

The man continued, "There are also some Creation realm beasts in the forest, but they're mostly found in the inner depths. There was also a time back then when there was an Ascended Mortal realm beast in the forest, but with the help of the 3 clan leaders, it was subdued."

'So that's why Father didn't want me to enter the inner depths,' Shi Li understood.

"With your cultivation realm, you'd be safe at the outskirts since beasts there range from the 1st to 2nd stage of Skin Tempering at most."

Shi Li nodded as he closed the satchel and tied it at his waist. He waved to the man as he slowly walked outside. "Thanks for everything, I'll be going now."

The man smiled as he waved back to Shi Li. "Not a problem. I wish you luck!"

Beyond the Shi clan walls was a vast and boundless forest that had a land area of over 100 square kilometers. This forest was the Forest of Ruin. As to how it got its name, there was a rumor that once someone enters the inner depths, a loud banging sound would be heard, and that someone would be dead once discovered.

After two hours of walking, Shi Li greeted the forest in front of him as he panted.

"Huuh...huuh...I finally reached it."

He then hastily sat on the ground, taking his time to replenish his energy. It was around twenty minutes later that he decided to stand up.

Stretching for a bit, he walked inside the forest.

Along the way, trees tens of meters tall and various plants greeted him. There were even some unique looking plants that could possibly be herbs.

As he continued to walk, Shi Li decided to use the eye.

'White Screen, show a map of the Forest of Ruin.'

Even though he had a map in his satchel, he had a feeling that since the eye was able to do everything, the map shown by the eye would be more detailed rather than relying on the crude details the map had.

~~~~~~~~
1% of user's mental energy has been consumed.
Showing map of [Forest of Ruin].
~~~~~~~~

'Oh? It only takes 1% of my mental energy to open a map?' Shi Li was quite surprised.

Before, he experienced losing 50% of his mental energy at one go thanks to him having the idea of having his cultivation technique fixed. With that experience, he built up some sort of resistance to losing mental energy.

Losing 40-50% of his mental energy would affect him to the point of fainting while losing 20-30% of his mental energy would only affect him to the point of losing a bit of power.

Losing 5-10% of his mental energy would affect him but not much. But losing 1% of his mental energy?

It didn't affect him at all!

In an instant, a translucent screen appeared in front of Shi Li, rather than an opaque white screen, revealing the entirety of the Forest of Ruin.

'According to the map the Logistics Hall gave me, the surrounding five kilometers are still considered the outskirts. the next 85 kilometers would be the inner depths and the remaining 10 would be the center of the forest.'

The map shown on the screen gradually changed, showing three colors that separated the areas stated by Shi Li.

With a green blinking dot on the map showing his current position, he had a bit more confidence in gaining combat experience while staying alive.

Picking up the pace, he ran further into the forest.

"Every beast I see shall die by my hand!"
