Shi Li looked at Moddy with curiosity as he wanted to know where its skills came from.
'I'm sure that Moddy wouldn't be able to get his skills if it wasn't for a certain bloodline or external help. Enhancement Waltz and Harmony Bind is already strong. What if it used Aurora Blast, wouldn't it just become a long-ranged killing machine?'
Shi Li lifted the corpse up, not worrying about whether the beast's blood would pour out as it blocked the beast's mouth with a small pile of leaves and vines.
'Anyways, that's my 3rd Grade D-2 corpse. I just really need 2 more to complete the requirements.'
Shi Li called Moddy to come down as they continued to walk through the inner depths in search of other beasts at the same level.

An hour later, a wolf at the Second Stage of Skin Tempering showed itself to the two of them, easily becoming their prey.
"Moddy, this time, how about you attack?" Shi Li asked as he placed the beast corpse he was carrying behind a nearby tree. He really wanted to know Moddy's full power.
"Nya...I could, but I might go overboard-nya. Do you still want me to continue-nya?" Moddy looked at Shi Li with a slightly fearful gaze.
Shi Li didn't know but Moddy used Aurora Blast back then and it became uncontrollable, killing multiple beasts at an extremely high level compared to it. It didn't want to accidentally hurt Shi Li, as it was the first human that was friendly towards it.
Shi Li nodded. "It's fine. If you want, I could stay behind your back as I watch you attack."
Shi Li's reply made Moddy let out a sigh of relief. "Well-nya, let's go and fight the wolf-nya!"
It took them a while to get up the tree branch as they looked at the wolf carefully.
Moddy adjusted the drum's angle to let the sound focus at the wolf, which Shi Li took note of.
It then took a deep breath as it slammed on the drum with its two paws with force.
Bang!
"[Aurora Blast]!"
Without any delay, a beam of light over a meter long manifested in front of the drum and shot itself towards the wolf in a fast manner.
The wolf was still unaware of the beam of light, but it felt a warm sensation on its abdomen. The wolf tried to look at its abdomen as to why it was like that, but it was already dead by then.
The beam of light expanded to cover the wolf's body and burned the wolf's body, only leaving a pile of ash in its place.
Shi Li was dumbfounded from Moddy's prowess. A single attack like that easily turned the wolf into ash. What if there were more beasts in the proximity, what would happen? This thought made Shi Li shiver intensely.
Not making the shiver obvious, Shi Li jumped down from the tree branch to where the wolf previously was. It grabbed a bit of the ash and let it scatter. "A corpse lost. I was going need to it."
Moddy jumped down from the tree branch as it held onto the drums with a sad look on its face. "I-I'm sorry-nya. I didn't think you needed the corpse-nya. I'm really sorry-nya." Tears started to well around its eyes.
Shi Li wasn't really mad about losing a possible beast corpse as there were more beasts in the forest. But the sad look from Moddy made Shi Li come closer and pat its head with a sigh.
"Don't worry about it. It was my idea to let you attack the beast anyway. I'll just blame myself for this situation."
Moddy looked back at Shi Li as it waved its paws around. "No, no, no, it was my fault-nya! I used too much power in the attack, that's why it was turned into ash-nya."
"If you're not gonna stop blaming yourself for the situation, then I'll blame myself for the rest of my life," Shi Li had a serious expression. He didn't really want to see Moddy with a long face on.
Moddy hurriedly removed the sad expression on its face as it looked at Shi Li with a smile. "Nya, nya! I'm not blaming myself anymore-nya! See-nya? I'm happy-nya!"
The forced smile on Moddy's face made Shi Li chuckle a bit as he said, "Yeah, you're definitely smiling. Well, let's go and kill more beasts."
Shi Li stood up and looked at his map as he walked towards a certain direction. Moddy hurriedly lifted the drums up as it followed Shi Li.

'Hmm...utilizing Heaven's Waltz in attacking had a great result. It even enhanced my understanding of Heaven's Waltz by a bit. What if I used the first two movements after one another? Would there be some greater effect?' Shi Li thought inwardly as the Shi clan tournament was getting nearer and nearer as he continued his tempering journey. He would try any method of enhancement available to him, even if it means it was his own hypotheses.
Ten minutes later, they found another beast, to which they did the same strategy they used on the first beast they killed.
"[Enhancement Waltz]! [Harmony Bind]!"

Two bangs of the drum came from Moddy, which enhanced Shi Li's abilities and immobilized the beast in front of them, making it roar with anger.
Shi Li visualized the Heaven's Waltz in his mind yet one more time. But this time, he visualized the transition from one movement to another, to which he'll try its effects right now.
Charging yet once more towards a beast, Shi Li stopped a few centimeters before the beast as he punched with both of his fists towards the vital parts of the beast.
"[Heaven's Waltz: First Movement]!"
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
The four explosions happened as well on this beast, but Shi Li wasn't done. He used his fists planted on the beast as a spring to fly up in the air, using the momentum to rotate himself and hit the beast with a rotating dropkick.
"[Heaven's Waltz: Serenade of Duality]!"
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Another four explosions occurred within the beast, truly rendering it into a lifeless state. Shi Li took a deep breath to stabilize his breathing and then grabbed another small pile of leaves and vines to cover the beast's mouth as he lifted it up with the other beast corpse under it.
'Well, the plan worked! A resonance happened between me and the nature, I could even feel that I'm getting a grasp of the fifth movement!'
Shi Li knew that utilizing techniques in real situations would allow them to be learned at a rate even faster than practicing without any danger. He had a feeling that he might reach the second stage within a week or two if he kept his current pace.

As they proceeded to collect the two Grade D-2 beast corpses Shi Li killed before meeting Moddy, they met a beast on the Third Stage of Skin Tempering along the way.
They killed it easily with Moddy's buffs and Shi Li's combination of Heaven's Waltz attacks.
Shi Li decided to use the Grade D-3 beast corpse as the main corpse for the storage function since he was changing the items needed anyway.
They then went back to the center area, which was Moddy's turf. Shi Li laid the five beast corpses beside the special Ruin Forest Wood and thought that it was the right time to get it.
But before he did so, he looked at Moddy and said, "Could you keep an eye on the surroundings, I fear that there may be beasts or people that would disturb me, even though I think that would be extremely impossible."
Moddy nodded as it placed its drums in front of it. "Not to worry-nya, you'll be safe with me-nya!"
Shi Li felt assured from Moddy's words and started to exchange for the storage function.
'I would like to exchange for the first level of storage.'

Shi Li felt as if a small part of his brain and nerves were being cut off, turning into some sort of void that held anything. The brain being cut off didn't hurt at all, but his nerves being cut off gave him that much pain.
He gritted his teeth and endured the process of turning a part of his brain and nerves into the storage function he wanted to use. At times he would scream his lungs out, but as time passed he became silent.
After three minutes, the torture was over, revealing a white screen in front of him.
