Shi Li instantly felt a large chunk of his mental energy being taken away, staggering as he tried to keep his balance.

"Shi Li-nya! Are nyuu okay-nya?" Moddy asked Shi Li as it didn't expect him to stagger.

Shi Li tried to stabilize his footing before taking a few deep breaths. After his mental energy calmed down, he answered, "I-I'm fine Moddy. This is just something you have to get used to once in a while."

Moddy pondered as to what Shi Li meant, but it then looked at the plate in front of Shi Li's face and understood. 'Shi Li has to pay something in nyexchange for something like the white plate-nya.'

After answering Moddy's question, Shi Li took a few more deep breaths as he took a glance at the golden book. "Huuu...60% of my mental energy was gone in an instant. That means I only have 62% of my mental energy left. My mental energy will recover naturally, but it takes a while. I won't do some system related stuff for a while."

He sat down and placed the golden book on the ground which had its pristine golden cover being torn away as the cover was replaced with a more exquisite silver cover.

Shi Li sat cross-legged and closed his eyes as he started to stabilize his breathing. He was currently attuning himself to his surroundings to allow his mental energy to calm down faster, letting his mental energy recover at a faster rate as well. In his previous life, people who do meditation every once in a while are calm and collected people. Shi Li wasn't someone who did meditation back then, but with the amount of time he had currently, he could spare a lot to meditating.

'Who knows, it might even give me beneficial effects,' Shi Li thought.

...

Shi clan, a secluded room.

Within this room was a large wooden table in the center, with three seats on both sides of the table and a single seat that was slightly larger than the others on another side. On its walls were mysterious paintings that had certain effects to people once they looked at it, combined with the torches affixed on the walls, it gave the room an eerie yet calm feeling.

A middle-aged man that exuded wisdom and grandeur sat on the larger seat and placed his hands on the table as he looked at the direction of the door. This man was Shi Xingwan.

"Do come in Elders."

"As you wish, Patriarch," a voice replied respectfully.

A man that looked similar to Shi Xingwan walked towards one of the seats that remained vacant on the table. Rather than exuding an aura of wisdom and grandeur, this man exuded an aura of vitality and fierceness. This man was the First Elder, Shi Xingtai.

Not long after, a tall and bulky man walked towards another seat of the table and sat there. His robes stuck on his muscles as if the robe wanted to burst. If one took a close look, they would see tattoos of miniature size drawn all over his body, yet it seemed like it wasn't there. This man is the Second Elder, Shi Zhenlong.

The person who came next was a beautiful woman that had skin as white as jade and a seductive face that made any man rub their eyes twice, hoping to imprint that face in their mind. With a silk robe covering her curvaceous body, the humility she showed currently looked like a facade for her seductive side. This enchanting temptress was the Third Elder, Shi Lianghua.

The person that entered after Lianghua did not lose to her in terms of beauty. The person's skin was as smooth as a baby while being as white as jade as well. The person's hair was a shade of silver-gray yet it complemented the person's face so well. Anyone would definitely think that this person was a woman...if not for the fact that a certain shaft was poking on his robe. He even leered at Shi Lianghua's body and evilly chuckled. This perverted trap is none other than the Fourth Elder, Shi Buyong.

Two seats remained vacant on the table, yet none of the elders asked as to why it was vacant because...

Not long after that question popped into their mind, the two seats were mysteriously filled by two silhouettes. The first silhouette was of an elderly woman that exuded kindness and hospitality to anyone who goes near her. Her face was somewhat filled with wrinkles, yet her smile made anyone forget the wrinkles and look at her as if she was the most beautiful woman they've ever seen. This elder was the Shi clan's Healing Elder, Shi Yuhe.

On the other seat sat an elder that looked like he was in his 30s. His hair was of a snow white color, yet that complemented the mysterious but enchanting aura surrounding him. Some of the elders couldn't help but gulp a bit of their saliva as they looked at this man. Even Shi Xingwan looked at this man with a gaze of respect. This elder was the one who managed the Shi clan Logistics Hall, and Shi Li's master, Senior Yan.

After confirming that all of the elders were present, Shi Xingwan nodded and said, "Since the elders are all here. Let's start off with the first topic of our agenda, which is the problem with the Huang clan being more harsh towards our clan members. Does anyone have any clues?"

"I think I have an idea," Shi Zhenlong, the Second Elder responded. "Two months ago, remember that the Huang clan patriarch all of a sudden. As of now, he still hasn't showed himself to the public. Maybe they're being more harsh to the Shi clan because they want to assert their dominance or something."

"Well that's highly possible," Shi Xingtai, the First Elder replied to Shi Zhenlong's statement, "But keep in mind that the Huang clan before their patriarch went missing was still harsh to the Shi clan, but not as much. Perhaps there's some sort of motive behind them being more harsh towards us."

"Hehe. I think I have an idea as to why," Shi Buyong lightly chuckled as he took a glance at Shi Lianghua. "It's not that they want to assert their dominance hehe, but rather they're distracting us from something else. Something big perhaps?" Shi Buyong couldn't help but look at Shi Lianghua's bountiful asset afterwards.

Shi Lianghua's face went slightly red as she felt Shi Buyong staring at her body. Even though her true nature is to mingle with men, she had to hold it in in front of the patriarch. "I-I think what Buyong is saying is highly possible. Maybe they've gotten hold of a special treasure that they bought from a nearby city. Maybe they've crafted a weapon of a high grade, trying to keep it in wraps. Who knows, maybe the patriarch has even broke through to the Ascended Mortal realm."

The elders couldn't help but dismiss the last statement, including Shi Xingwan. He knew the two patriarchs like the back of his hand, they were all stuck at the Half-Ascended Mortal realm for a long time already. He felt like it was the least possible thing to occur until all of a sudden, Senior Yan opened his mouth.

"What this girl is saying is true. Huang Tiankong has broken through to the Ascended Mortal realm," Senior Yan responded with a solemn face. The elders froze up and looked at Senior Yan with shock on their faces.

"A-Are you s-sure about that S-S-Senior?" Shi Xingtai forced himself to ask this question through the slits of his teeth. He knew that a day like this was going to come, but he never thought that it would come this early.

Senior Yan ignored the clattering of his teeth and nodded. "I just checked once more with spirit sense, I'm 100% sure that Huang Tiankong is at the early stages of the Ascended Mortal realm. He's even in secluded cultivation at the moment, trying to break through to the middle stages of the Ascended Mortal realm."

"That's impossible!" Shi Xingwan cried out in disbelief. A stalemate that lasted for so long, has been broken within an instant. "How would the future of the Shi clan live on?"

Senior Yan sighed as he looked at Shi Xingwan's face. Senior Yan wasn't even a clan member of the Shi clan, he was only brought here thanks to Shi Xingwan's wife. But since he lived here, he had to give a suggestion.

"I would suggest forcing someone's cultivation to reach the Ascended Mortal realm, in the short-term, it would allow the clan to fight equally. But in the long-term, it would basically hamper the cultivator's path of cultivation, limiting the cultivator to the peak of Ascended Sky [1]."

"Are there any other options?" Shi Xingwan bit his lip as he didn't want to do that.

Senior Yan pondered for a bit before replying with a calm expression.

"Nurture Shi Li and make him cannon fodder."

...

Shi clan, Shi Li's courtyard.

An hour has passed since the start of the shedding of the golden cover. At this point in time, the final piece of the golden cover was removed, revealing an exquisitely crafted silver cover with a silhouette of a muscular body on the center.

"Finally!" Shi Li shouted in glee as the waiting portion is over. He grabbed the book and shouted 'Identify'...only to be dumbfounded from the content.
