Shi Xingwan's room, half an hour after Shi Li finished choosing his cultivation technique.

Someone knocked on the door, to which Shi Xingwan responded with, "The door is open. You may come in."

The door opened with a creak and revealed Shi Li who was holding a simple looking book on his right hand.

"You're done choosing?" Shi Xingwan was surprised.

"Un," Shi Li nodded.

Without waiting for Shi Xingwan to say the same lines, Shi Li closed the door, grabbed the same chair, and sat on it as he looked at his father.

"Father, this is the cultivation technique I have chosen," Shi Li respectfully gave the book to Shi Xingwan.

Shi Xingwan placed his papers down on his desk as he received the book Shi Li gave. Looking at the cover, Shi Xingwan eyes widened. He gave a look at his son as he slowly muttered to himself.

"H-How could it be this technique?"

Shi Li tilted his head since he didn't know what was going on. Shi Xingwan noticed that Shi Li wanted to know he was shocked. He slowly calmed down as he remembered what Wei'er told her.

"Xingwan, before I go, I'm gonna have to tell you something," A melodious voice sounded out.

Shi Xingwan looked at the one who spoke with a smile, "What is it?"

The person became serious in an instant. "Xingwan, it's a matter of our marriage, our son, and possibly our future. You know about my specialty right?"

Hearing the word specialty, Shi Xingwan became solemn as he knew that it was the real deal. He slowly nodded, "Of course I do. But what are you talking about?"

The person sighed as she looked up into the air. "I may not be by your side when this happens, but always remember these three things."

"The first thing, our son would instantly have a desire to cultivate. If that happens, it would either go two ways, he becomes a normal cultivator or a legendary cultivator."

"The second thing, our son would choose the most refined technique out of all the Skin Tempering cultivation techniques. As to why, he will answer with a 'I want to set a strong foundation for the future.'"

"And lastly...the third thing. If the first two things happen, he would turn out great, but once he accomplishes this third one...just prepare for the worst."

Shi Xingwan shivered at the last statement. "What's the third thing then?"

Taking a deep breath, the person opened her mouth. "Our son's irises would turn a crimson red." Out of nowhere, the person's irises turned crimson red as she was saying this.

"You know how heaven-defying this is right? If this happens, tell him that he should only use it in emergencies."

Shi Xingwan was in a daze but in the end, nodded slowly.

"I...understand."

Shi Xingwan placed the book on his desk as he looked at Shi Li. Gulping his saliva, he asked, "Why did you choose this technique?"

'Please don't say those words. Please don't say those words. For heaven's sake, please don't say those words!' This sentence covered Shi Xingwan's mind as he waited for Shi Li's response.

Shi Li opened his mouth but closed it after a moment. He pondered for a bit to think up of a good answer.

Shi Xingwan's forehead was covered in drops of cold sweat as he waited. Seconds felt like minutes as he waited for his son's answer.

Finally, his son, with a gaze of firm resolve, opened his mouth.

"Father, the reason I chose this technique is because…"

"Because…?" Shi Xingwan said inwardly.

"I want to set a strong foundation for the future."

In an instant, Shi Xingwan shivered in fear. 'The second thing has been...fulfilled.'

After taking some time to regain composure, Shi Xingwan coughed and said, "Since you chose this technique, then I have no choice but to let you cultivate it. Even though it's a technique that allows you to change techniques midway, it's still harder by a great amount because of this."

"Do you still choose to cultivate this technique?" Shi Xingwan asked again since he didn't really want the thing Wei'er mentioned to happen.

Without hesitation, Shi Li nodded. "I would still choose to cultivate this technique."

Shi Xingwan sighed and gave the book back to Shi Li. "Good luck, my son. I hope you reach the peak of Skin Tempering without any problems. Make me proud."

Shi Li smiled as he received the book. "I won't let you down, Father."

With a whoosh, he left the room and headed towards his own courtyard, leaving Shi Xingwan alone.

All of a sudden, Shi Xingwan hit his head towards his desk. After one time, he did it again.

And another one.

And another one.

And another one.

He repeated this until his forehead began to bleed, to which he promptly stopped.

'Wei'er, is this really the fate of our family?'

After asking a few elders for directions, Shi Li reached his own courtyard. It was a simple courtyard, an area around 600 square meters. It equipped Shi Li with a roof over his head, and an open space for him to practice his techniques.

He headed towards the main hall of his house and sat cross-legged. He wasn't used to sitting in this kind of position but sooner or later he would grow accustomed to it.

He closed his eyes as he tried to process all of the information he has obtained these past two days.

'I am Shi Li, but at the same time, I'm not Shi Li. I'm Shi Li from another world taking over Shi Li's body from this world.'

'Cultivation exists within this world and there are three realms, Tempering, Creation, and Ascended Mortal. Father said to not offend Ascended Mortals...unless I'm an Ascended Mortal as well.'

'I'm currently in a place named Verdant Breeze Town and I'm a part of the Shi clan, one of the three big clans of the town.'

'The nemesis of the Shi clan is the Huang clan, which has a Half-Ascended Mortal as a patriarch so that's why they can bully us.'

'I want to kill the whole Huang clan, but it would need me to be at the middle Ascended Mortal realm to guarantee my victory. Anyways, there's still a lot of time for me to prepare.'

'Since Father gave me access to the clan library, I would use this time to accumulate information about this new world I'm in. Let's say I sleep 8 hours a day, I would have about 16 hours of free time to do whatever I want.'

'I would use 4 hours of the day to read through the books within the clan library and the remaining 12 to fortify my body.'

'If only there was a way to cultivate faster. Then again, cultivation is always hard according to the novels I've read. The main characters just make it look easy.'

Assimilating all of his information, he opened his eyes and grabbed the book with vigor.

"I'll start reading books tomorrow. For now, let's start cultivating."

He looked at the title of the book with a smile and flipped open to the first few pages to cultivate the Skin Tempering realm's 1st stage.

Of course, since he wanted to set a strong foundation for his future cultivation, in the library earlier, between the three he was left with, he chose the most refined technique that suited him real well.

The name of the technique is…

[Skin Tempering Foundation Manual].
