"Once the Myriad Claw Antecessor decided to grab the Eternal Guiding Star, the God of Judgement, Astraea, punished him with a curse that would be carried on through his bloodlines unless one of his blood kin breaks the curse in the future."

"The curse was called Vicis Ultio, a curse that would characterize the perpetrator and its descendants with crimson red eyes and dark patterns that surround their pupils. These eyes gave the descendants an edge over the others, because everything was going their way. Many people called it God's Eyes or the Omniscient Sight. But once the descendants tried to break the seal, it was all called by one name…"

"The Fate Eidolon's Eyes of Eternal Repentance."

"There was even a poem that surrounded the eyes that would shock the world once it awakens on a descendant."

'When the eyes of gods awaken once again,

The world will change, a new era shall begin.

The red eyes stare from the sky, looking down below,

Its descendants mighty and peerless, something that's bestowed.

Once the charge up to the skies, and fight against the gods,

The universe shall shake, but still stands like a rod.

If they fail, they shall be stuck with those eyes forever.

For the descendants of such eyes, it's a hated and blessed endeavor.'

----------

The next morning.

Shi Li opened his eyes as he slowly stood up. He then remembered the pearl he got last night. He looked around the room and saw...no pearl.

'Does that mean...the pearl entering my eye last night...was real?' Shi Li slowly walked towards the mirror and checked his body, only to be left with his jaw hanging.

His robe was cloaked in sweat, presumably from the time he was screaming his heart out from the pain. Just under his left eye were the trails of blood that dripped as the pearl entered it last night.

He looked outside the window and saw that it was morning. He decided to take a bath before heading out since he still had to tell his father about this.

'He might know something.'

A few minutes later, he got out of the bath and changed into new clothes, removing all of the evidence that screamed suspicious. With that, he opened the door, only to see…

Darkness.

A pitch black darkness.

Suddenly, he had the idea of pinching himself on the arm, to which he did. He felt no pain at all, which meant…

'I'm in a dream.'

He didn't really want to go out of the courtyard, but since it was a dream, it possibly meant that the exit was on the side of the darkness.

Sighing as if he had no choice, he walked towards the darkness, and entered it.

As he walked through the darkness, he could hear a mix of loud cackling and wailing in his ears as if it was just a few meters away.

Shi Li tried to ignore the sounds but little by little, it grew louder and louder…

And louder…

And louder…

And louder…

Until Shi Li couldn't take it anymore and screamed at the top of the lungs.

"MAKE! IT! STOP!"

And surprisingly, the sound did stop. A small room then appeared in front of Shi Li, where a door blocks the other side.

Shi Li opened the door and saw a bright white light, which then illuminated the darkness and turned the world bright.

First, the light became blue, just like the skies. Then came the clouds, then the land under his feet, then the trees, then the water, then everything else.

The sight in front of Shi Li was like a type of heaven for people, a peaceful and beautiful one.

But all good things come to an end.

A ghastly aura shrouded the world and gradually turned the world crimson red. The sound from before came back, louder than ever before as a man flew up to the sky.

The man had multiple wounds all over his body as it all profusely bled. The man continued to laugh even with the wounds, giving off an eerie feeling.

Shi Li looked at the man and couldn't help but be grossed out at the sight.

'Blood. Tons of it. That amount of blood loss would already kill a man over a thousand times.'

He then muttered, "How is he not dying?"

As if Shi Li's voice was heard, the man slowly turned his head, gazing at Shi Li straight at the eyes.

Shi Li looked back at the man, and shuddered. The man's eyes were crimson red in hue, and glistened like two blood red rubies. In the center were black trefoils, surrounding small dark points which were his pupils.

The man's eyes showed numerous countless emotions. Sorrow, despair, anguish, demise, melancholy, tragedy, anger, rage, bloodlust, lunacy, and other similar emotions; all of which were felt by Shi Li.

'This man must've experienced a lot of betrayals in his life. That's why he's like this,' Shi Li thought.

Who knew that after they look at each other in the eye, the man's wounds would close up, stopping the bleeding. The blood covering the man's body was magically cleaned up as a red robe with intricate carvings of dragons covered his body.

Gradually, the man alighted from his flight, appearing in front of Shi Li as a young man that exuded maturity. Behind this was a ferocious killing aura that would suffocate someone instantly.

The man examined Shi Li from head to toe. He then opened his mouth, only to close it after as he hesitated.

Even after that horrid sight, Shi Li was still able to maintain a state of rationality. He then opened his mouth.

"Who...are you?"

The man instantly opened his mouth. "I am the Myriad Claw Antecessor, the progenitor of your bloodline...and your curse."

Shi Li was dumbfounded after hearing the man's statement. "Bloodline? I actually have a bloodline?"

The man nodded.

As far as Shi Li knew, bloodlines would allow people to wield greater strength than those who didn't...according to those novels at least.

'A bloodline, huh. That's good to know but…'

"What do you mean my curse?" Shi Li was more curious about this than the former.

"As I said, I am the progenitor of your bloodline and your curse. The curse is the eyes you see on my face." The man pointed at his two eyes.

'Eyes...wait. Does this have something to do with that red pearl?!' Shi Li exclaimed inwardly.

'Since I'm still in a dream, I'll have to find out later.'

Regaining his composure, he asked. "Wait...so does that mean I would have those eyes too?"

The man nodded. "Yes and no. Since you're still at a low realm, only the most basic form of the curse shall affect you, but that alone will already give you an edge amongst your peers."

Shi Li was quite confused. "An edge amongst my peers? Are the eyes really a curse or a blessing? Also, what's this about the most basic form of the curse?"

The man sighed as he looked up at the crimson red sky. "I once stole an extremely precious artifact that was at an unfathomable level. Being careless, the God of Judgement punished me and gave me these eyes."

He continued, "It's also thanks to the artifact I stole that I can say you have an edge. The eyes would allow you to make anything happen...as long as you pay a price of the same equivalent."

With the last statement lingering in his mind, he asked, "If I wanted to become the strongest person in the universe, would the eyes allow that to happen? What price would I pay?"

The man pondered over the question for a while before answering, "Yes, the eyes would allow that to happen…"

Shi Li smiled in joy hearing that.

"...but even your death would not be enough to pay for it. You would need at least a quintillion of you to die to be able to pay for it."

The joy turned to shock in an instant. Shi Li didn't know that the price that would be paid was that harsh. On the other hand, it also got him thinking.

'Does that mean the strongest person in the universe is like...insanely strong?'

The man continued where he left off before Shi Li asked that question. "The eyes I have is the harshest form of the curse, but it also has the greatest advantage amongst all the forms. There are five forms of the curse, from the least harsh to the harshest. You don't have to know the names of the other forms as you'll discover them eventually, but I can tell you the name of the first form."

Shi Li's eyes lit up as he leaned his body towards the man, afraid to miss any little detail.

"The first form is called the Nonpareil Eyes of Binding Fate. You'll soon find out why."

"For now…" the man brandished his left hand that was now just sharp red claws. "Let me wake you up from this dream."

The man got closer and closer to Shi Li, to which Shi Li replied with stepping backward.

"Wait...wait...is there any other way to wake me up? A less painful way?" He didn't want to experience being clawed at the face, or at least that's what he thought.

"Nope." The man grabbed Shi Li by the head with his claw and squeezed tight, popping Shi Li's head like a cherry. The blood and brain matter splattered everywhere. It even got onto the man's robe, but the man stayed silent.

The man and the headless body of Shi Li was left in the crimson red world. Suddenly, the man opened his mouth.

"Don't let the eyes consume you."
