"Father... I want to ask you something." Margaret stood up, keeping the needle back in the box.

"Yes, what is it?" Corbette turned around.

"Who am I, Dad?" she tried to recall everything but she could hardly remember anything now.

Corbette shoot still and spoke nothing. He stared at the locket.

...

Margaret could sense something odd in his facial expressions. It was a hollow stare and his face void of expressions. This is something she did not expect.

"Father, is everything alright?" she walked towards him and held his left hand. She looked up at him. Although she was tall compared to all the girls of her age, she was still a few inches shorter than her father.

"Do you know who am I, father?"

"Why do you ask?" he asked finally breaking his gaze off the locket.

"Some weird things happened to me lately. This locket glows whenever I miss my mother or cry. And the locket also has the same mark as my birth mark. I don't know if it's my birthmark or somebody engraved it on my skin but the exact copy of it is inside this locket. I can see it clearly when it glows." she revealed everything. As she spoke her heart felt light. For all this time she had these emotions, feelings and thoughts which she wanted to share with someone. But she also needed an answer.

Corbette didn't know what to say. He knew who she was but he wasn't sure about her identity.

"Do you remember you mother, Margaret?"

"I remember her face but now I think I am starting to forget what she looked like." her eyes started to become watery as she controlled her emotions.

"I remember her asking me to keep this locket safe before she left me... and she never returned." she sniffed while speaking, caressing the locket.

"Why was I the only survivor of the massacre? And who killed my mother?" her questions yearned for answers.

"You are a very special person, Margaret." Corbette wiped her tears.

"What happened to you years back was definitely tragic. But I don't have the right information. All this time, I tried finding out who you are but I only know that you don't belong to us. You are not a vampire nor a human." he finally revealed. The girl had the right to know who she is but he waited for her to ask.

Margaret's eyes grew wider. She knew that she didn't belong to them. She wasn't a human either.

"Father, why am I still here? If I am not a human or a vampire..."

"Do you want to leave us?" Corbette asked.

"No, it's not what I meant." she apologised.

"It's late, Margaret. Go to sleep. We will talk about this later..." he patted her head and went out of her room without giving her a chance to wish him good night.

"Good night, Father..." Margaret whispered. She went to close the door.

Putting all the thoughts aside, she tried to sleep. She couldn't sleep and turned to her sides to find a better position to sleep but failed to find one. Staring at the ceiling she forcibly shut her eyes. After a while, she was in her deep sleep.

....

"We shall now take our leave." Gerard turned out to leave gesturing Alexander to leave too.

"I know that she has a daughter. Keep her safe." as David saw the distancing figures, he spoke.

Alexander stopped in his tracks.

"I will." he spoke and moved out of the house.

Both went directly to the castle. On their way back to the castle…

"Alexander, the girl's soul was transferred to a living body before she died."

"..."

Alexander stopped and stared with both his brows furrowed.

"What?"

"Yes, being a white witch, I know and have been keeping this a secret from you." Gerard wanted to reveal all his secrets before dying.

"Who is she?" Alexander's eyes shone brightly.

"Have you ever met a person and not know what he or she is thinking? You can easily read the minds of others excluding me… Have you met someone like me? As in, you tried hard but failed to know what's in his or her mind?" Gerard had to be patient to explain the things carefully.

The first image that popped in his mind was Margaret's.

"Don't think much about it. You already know who she is. Two souls one body. You need to protect the body having two souls." Gerard's face broke into a small smile.

"It is true that I tried to know what was going on in her mind, but I just couldn't." Alexander murmured to himself.

Now , all he wanted was to return to Brookville and protect his only belonging.

No matter what happens in futurem he will not leave her side.
