"She's doing well. You should have a meal with us sometime" Ed replied.
"what about tomorrow? I have some free time and I want to meet her as soon as possible". Mona said.
"Actually tomorrow is Anna's birthday party and Joleen is going to be there. You do remember Anna, don't you?"
Her eyes widened in surprise.
"Anna? Are you two still friends? I remember when you and your parents returned to the country, you had to go to a new high school. You hated making new acquaintances but i remember you complaining about a girl named Anna who was so determined to become your friend. Is it the same girl? How come she knows Joleen? Are they also friends? No they can't be friends right? I mean Anna was obviously into you, unless she moved on.." She kept asking different questions while eating cookies.
"Slowly there, you'll choke on the food if you keep talking. Well, Anna is Joleen's sister in law. She's engaged to John, Joleen's brother. And we stopped being friends ages ago, not that I considered her a friend anyway. I remember telling you how delinquent she was. I hated the way she bullied other girls, and this was the main reason I distanced myself from her". Edward said in an indifferent tone.
"Oh, I see. So things are getting juicy. I'm sure tomorrow's party is going to be anything but normal". She murmured.
"By the way Ed, are you also invited to the party?"
"Yes, she invited me several times. But I would never go if Joleen didn't insist. Besides,I'm only attending to be with the girl I love". He said while putting his book on the table.
"Well then I should leave now my little cousin". Mona said as she walked towards the door.
"Where are you going in a rush? dinner is almost ready I suppose".
"I'll have to buy a new evening dress since I'm accompanying you to the birthday party. There's no way I'll be missing all the fun tomorrow". She yelled as she quickly disappeared.
"What? She's still as crazy as ever". Ed Sighed.
Edward received a text message few minutes later.
< I miss you. Come to my house and wait for me by the gate. Joleen >
Edward smiled genuinely then went upstairs. He rushed out in less than five minutes, but he had to go back home when he found no keys in his pockets.
He started the car then texted her back.
< I'll be there in half an hour honey. Bring your coat, I love you >
The Paterson's Villa.
Joleen couldn't find her favourite red coat anywhere. She went to the kitchen to ask her nanny about it.
"Nanny" Joleen said quietly.
"Oh, you startled me sweetheart". Her nanny replied in a loud voice.
"Shush nanny please, it's late and I don't want anyone to hear us". Joleen hushed.
"Oh, sweety is there anything wrong?" The housekeeper asked in a worried tone.
"No, it's just that I can't find my red coat anywhere".
"Really? Isn't it in the closet? I remember putting it there myself" The nanny replied quietly.
"Would you mind coming with me to my room? I can't waste anymore time". Joleen said whining.
"Are you going somewhere my lady?" she asked innocently.
