After reaching her house, she tried to persuade him in accompanying her. He kindly refused, placed a long kiss on her forehead, and waved goodbye as she entered the villa.

The young lady of the house was welcomed by the housekeeper, her own personal nanny when she was still a child. She went up stares to her room, changed her outfit, and then joined her family on the dining table.

"Good evening everyone"

Her father smiled gently and replied "my precious daughter is finally here! You look skinnier. Quickly, start eating before the food gets cold!"

She sat next to her mother who instantly started putting different types of food in her plate "My poor baby, you must be tired and hungry since you spent the whole day in college!"

Anna had a sudden mood change when she noticed the amount of attention and care the princess got from her parents. She felt even more jealous when she saw the genuine smile on John's face.

"Jolene, you really are lucky to have such a loving family by your side."

Anna said in a hypocrite tone. The smiley face of John became stiff as he glanced at his fiancée.

In fact, John never liked Anna. She had always been a superficial, a shallow minded and an arrogant girl in his eyes. Because of family business, he had no choice but to agree on the engagement. He never showed affection to anyone except for his sister. Anna was obviously aware of all that, but she didn't mind the situation as long as she could get as much money as she desired. Not to forget that John was a handsome filthy rich guy whom she could use to show off at parties and among friends.

John sighed while cutting a slice of beef "It's not a strange matter for families to take good care of their kids, Anna. Especially if the kid is as lovely as my little sister."

The room was sinking in deep silence before Mrs. Paterson took the initiative to change the awkward atmosphere.

"By the way Jolene, How's Edward doing? I hope he's taking good care of you."

She replied with enthusiasm "of course mom, he's taking good care of me as always. He was here a moment ago."

"So he brought you home? How considerate of him, but why didn't you invite him in?" said her father.

"I actually did, but he had an important business appointment."

"What a good kid he is, no wonder he's the future heir of the Hann family."

Annoyed by his father's praising words, John wiped his mouth with a handkerchief and excused himself.

"Sorry everyone, I'm not feeling good so I will be going to my room to have some rest."

Anna was about to get off her chair to follow him up stairs.

"There's no need for you to come along, I can take good care of myself. I will let the driver take you home, good night."

She calmly sat back on her chair, pretending that nothing happened. Feeling a little embarrassed by her son's behavior, Mrs. Paterson tried comforting her future daughter in law.

"Oh Anna, I hope you didn't get hurt by my child's inconsiderate words. You know how indifferent he could be, but don't worry, this will definitely change after marriage."

It was hard for Anna to draw a fake smile on her face, but she did anyway.

"It's okay Mrs. Paterson. I'm already used to his cold behavior by now. It's getting late; I need to take my leave too."

The dinner was over. Jolene kissed her parents goodnight and went to her bedroom. She threw herself on her large cozy bed, closed her eyes, and hugged her pillow. She slowly opened her sleepy eyes and grabbed her phone to send Edward a good night text. As soon as she was about to write the first letter of her message, she received his.

"How was dinner?"
