As the demon didn't attack yet, we still have some time to plan our reaction. Thus the generals gather around and quickly exchange ideas, with entirely different plans.

A few plan to fight directly, others want to bait them into a better situation. I don't take either of those as good plans. They have to see the differences. We only have on elven army and me, to kill demons. We are missing weapons that are able to kill demons.

The generals discuss further, until the elven leader interrupts.

Elve:" We cannot fight them, so we won't. The only way for us to even survive is to retreat and evacuate."

General:" We can't just give up this city! We just got it back!"

E:" Arrogant and foolish human. Your path would end like the one this king took" he points at the dead king.

C:" What do you suggest doing, after retreating?"

E:" Waiting, preparing. Forging weapons for humans. We elves cannot smith weapons without magic, so humans can't use them at all"

C:" How will we prepare then?"

E:" Humans know of demons, elves and humans - right?"

I know where this is going. There has to be another species able to help us. Maybe some fairytale... Fairies, dragonkin or arachnids. Don't make it arachnids please...

C:" Is there a species able to help us?"

E:" They can, problem is if they want to. They are quite stubborn, they only smith for people the deem worthy in all aspects"

Oh, a species good in smithing... Might be orcs or dwarves.

C:" Can we hide in their vicinity?"

E:" Learning our way to speak is pretty favourable. But tricky questions enrage dwarves. The don't like high talk. If we pass a test we can even live there"

Living there just by passing a test? Isn't that a bit expensive on longer terms? Ah, only elves know of them anyway - and the test probably isn't easy.

C:" Can we pass it?"

E:" I am sure you will, but the other humans here are..."

I get what Rhage means. His name is coming from the elven queen after all, as a counterweight to his serene mind. I wonder what kind of task the test is

C:" What is the test about?"

E:" Thinking, bending of mind and body. In short - you have to learn dwarven smithing in less than one week"

G:" WHAT?! Smiths are refining their skills a whole life long! How are we supposed to learn that fast?!"

E:" See? He is unable to bend his mind. It's old, rusty and unstable."

Yes. I know of many methods to learn things, many of them involve runes and enchantments on your own body, but smithing and crafting would still take a month.

The doubt is justified. At all means.

C:" We have to try it anyway. Just try to learn what they teach you. The test won't be impossible, there has to be some kind of trick"

E:" There is, to be fair. But don't expect it to be easy."

Well, why would an unknown species have an easy test? They would've thousands of humans already equipped with their weapons coming back here to use their smithing. They have to be seriously trustworthy, to give them such important knowledge.

I hope we are. We do have recommendations from elves after all. And as Rhage said, I will take the role of speaking, so this will be my responsibility. I doubt that I am ready, but like Wert always told me, pain doesn't wait to be felt, challenges don't wait to appear and life doesn't stop so you can procrasinate either.

All that would've been wrong if I just stayed in the castle, but am I really that low of a human being? No, I'm just a murderer not lazy. The falseness of that statement made me laugh.

I was being looked at by the closer generals and every elve. Guess they cannot hear my thoughts, huh...

C:" Sorry, just thought of something funny"

Muttering gets louder and louder, as the army looks visibly confused. Rhage used my statement do just enforce better morale.

R:" As you can see, our representant is not worrying at all. The times might be dire, but our future will be brighter after we cleared the shadows of the past"

Oh hell no! Elves and their cheesy words - now I actually regret saying anything. I could swear to hear him giggle. If your country is that boring you probably have to take every chance to laugh you get! Hehe... I like that one. Lets try hitting him with it.

C:" I guess if your country is that boring you probably have to take every chance to laugh you get!"

He not only stops laughing, but also looks at me surprised. The humans applaud

R:" Is that how humans see our country?"

C:" We know nothing, except your lack of war and the lack of meat in your food."

Rhage grins immensely. He has a comeback.

R:" At least we don't need to suck our kings dick to get something to eat at all"

Now the elves applaud and the humans breath in sharply. Lets keep this going, their mood is brighter from moment to moment

C:" At least ours is a human one, you have to suck off trees!"

The humans start hitting their shields and swords together, one big loud ball of metallic clapping.

R:" Good one! But enlighten me, wasn't it your species that 'invented' milk? Seems kinda perverted to just, you know. Suck at things of animals"

Elves begin to ewww together as humans play as if they were hit by an arrow. The army seems to be growing together.

C:" You got us with that one. I forfeit, for now. Expect my revenge at any time!"
