Chapter 40—Do These Vile People Want to Die

Leng Hanling considered the options. Although the number of Charming Snow Foxes were certainly low, his clan was still researching ways of increasing their numbers. Though the loss of one would be a great loss, he could destroy Mu Tianlang’s den and rescue back the Charming Snow Fox at a later point. At the current moment recuperating his magic was the most important priority. Or else… Leng Hanling glanced around his surroundings. The tree canopy was extremely dense and tall, without a single ray of light able to penetrate the leaves. Furthermore from time to time there would be rustling sounds coming from the around them. The entire area was bathed in a gloomy energy. Within this Dark Forest, possessing no magic would be equivalent to seeking death.

If he died, then his clansmen would all be annexed into the Wolf Clan. At that time, the loss of a single Charming Snow Fox would be nothing compared to the consequences.

Weighing his choices, Leng Hanling finally made his decision. Looking at Mu Tianlang, he said, “Alright, I hope you won’t renege on your side of the deal!”

“I want a female one.”

Leng Hanling’s scarlet pupils widened as he resisted the urge to spit out blood. This wolf demon was definitely doing this on purpose. Still, he could only clench his teeth together as he reluctantly spit out three words: “It’s a deal.”

………

The formerly empty and cheerless street was completely different the next morning. People from the surrounding areas could hear the joyous sounds of others celebrating; curious, they followed the sound to the sight of a crowd of people densely assembled in front the of the Fourth Princess’s residence, completely obstructing the entrance of the building.

A comparatively rich-looking woman took the initiative to speak, her eyes filled with a vicious joy. “This Fourth Princess has always used force to seize all of the men that she liked. However, today those men have finally been freed of that evil!”

“That’s exactly right,” an older woman said, immediately following up her words. “I don’t know who wouldn’t be happy about this news. Who knows which heroic woman has finally gotten revenge on behalf of the commoners!”

The sound of crying erupted into the air. Following the sound, the crowd focused on a robust-looking woman who was crying with her face in her hands. Everyone stared at her awkwardly, not wanting to approach her. After all, in this female-dominated nation women were expected to shed blood but not tears; if a woman were to cry, the general public would view her with disdain.

However, after this woman had spoke, the attitude of those who looked at her turned from disdain into sympathy.

“I, I, I, just when I was about to marry my husband, he was taken away by this Fourth Princess. Waah, waah, waah… he really was so pitiful. We had just gotten married, I had barely gotten to love him before… waah, waah…”

After that woman finished speaking, the sound of weeping multiplied as others also joined in.

“My pitiful son was only on his way to enjoy flowers, when he caught the Fourth Princess’s eye. Who would have thought that this princess is incapable of being compared to even a beast. After she had finished having her way with my son, she discarded him into the wilderness, and in the end we were unable to ever locate his corpse! Waah, waah, waah…”

“My son as well, my pitiful son! After he died they displayed his naked body in public…”

“This Fourth Princess isn’t human!”

“That’s right, she’s not even capable of being compared to an animal.”

The sounds of people cursing her reached Mo Qinghan’s ears, who furrowed her eyebrows. Her eyes felt like they had been hit with hail, making it extremely difficult to open them. Furthermore her entire body was filled with a piercing pain, so much that she could feel cold energy entering her bone marrow. Worst of all were her two elbows, both which felt like they had been torn apart.

With great difficulty Mo Qinghan managed to pry her eyes apart a crack, meeting with the sight of a crowd of people in an assorted arrangement of clothing surrounding her. Mo Qinghan instantly became angry. Why did she even bother paying those useless bodyguards; letting in all of those ordinary commoners into her residence, were they seeking death?

Huh, how come these vile people are throwing things at me, do they want to die?
