Chapter 64—Not Even Worth a Bastard

Moments after Ouyang Haoxuan had jumped, from behind her, Mo Qingli heard a loud shout of rage and heartbreak.

“Haoxuan!”

Suddenly a piercing pain scorched her face. Mo Qingli raised one hand to her injured cheek, staring at the furious Empress and wanting nothing more than to return the favor. It was a pity that the Empress was the mother of this body; she wouldn’t be able to harm her as she would have liked.

“Tie up this shameless woman for me!”

The Empress’s eyes flashed red as she gnashed her teeth at the surrounding servants, her mind filled with a desire to flay Mo Qingli’s skin off.

Mo Qingli suddenly realized that the words Ouyang Haoxuan had told her were just nonexistent lies, empty words meant to stall her until the Empress came. She had fallen into the jaws of his trap.

This was the first time she had experienced the complexities of a human’s heart.

“Your Majesty, this servant reports that Imperial Consort Xuan has been saved.” A servant kneeled in front of the Empress, deferentially speaking.

The Empress shoved away Mo Qingli, running to the side of the river and scooping up Ouyang Haoxuan in her arms. “Quickly call the Imperial Doctor to the Dream Pavilion¹.”

“Yes.”

The servant rose, than caught sight of Mo Qingli, and immediately ran to find the Imperial Doctor. Mo Qingli couldn’t help but feel that the servant’s eyes were filled with contempt, as if she were thinking that a woman who couldn’t even keep her hands of her own mother’s consort wasn’t even worth a bastard!

Mo Qingli allowed the servants to tie her up. One servant grabbed her on either side, dragging her towards the direction of the Dream Pavilion. One servant even dared to kick Mo Qingli’s legs, as if trying to force Mo Qingli to kneel against the ground.

Still, Mo Qingli remained standing. Even as they pushed against her shoulders, kicked her legs, she would not let them push her down.

Seeing this, those servants did not have any means to do anything. The Empress had not given them any instructions, and furthermore, despite everything she was still a princess; it was not as if they could do what they pleased with her.

“Oh, isn’t that Sixth Sister? Why are you tied up in a place like this?” From behind came a mocking voice. Without turning around, Mo Qingli knew who the voice came from immediately.

The two servants around her turned around and kneeled according to custom. “Second Princess, Fourth Princess.”

“You may stand. Why don’t you guys go the side for now. I have words with Sixth Sister.”

Deferentially, the two servants retreated to a distance out of earshot.

Mo Qinghan walked to Mo Qingli’s side, overlooking her. “What, didn’t you leave first? How did you end up in a place like that?”

“Oh, I know. It was because you wanted to meet Imperial Consort Xuan, which is why you threw us away and left first.”

Mo Qingli coldly stared at Mo Qinghan’s face without saying anything.

“Fourth Sister, talking to someone who would even dare to attack their own father consort will only stain your reputation.” Mo Qingyu spat on Mo Qingli’s face, hiding none of her dislike.

The saliva slowly dripped off of Mo Qingli’s face, splashing onto the ground.

“Oh my, Second Sister, how could you say something like that?” Mo Qinghan pulled at Mo Qingli’s robe, wiping Mo Qingli’s face. “Sixth Sister, don’t take any offense. Second Sister didn’t do that on purpose.”

She grinded the clothing with immense force over and over again, wanting to tear apart the skin on Mo Qingli’s face.

¹The name for Dream Pavilion include the character for “Xuan”, signifying that it belongs to “Imperial Consort Xuan”
