"It has been such a long time since the last time a user of the Voice walk this Earth and it is a shame for a talent as impressive as yours to go to waste. So what do you say, Arthur? Will you accept my blessing and take on the world in my name?"

Honestly, Arthur was quite tempted. Like Emilio, he understood how valuable a divine blessing was in improving one's power and thus station in life. This was exactly the thing Arthur needed to fulfill his dream of becoming an adventurer but at the same time, the young man practiced the virtue of caution.

Therefore, Arthur asked cautiously, "Your grace, what does this entail? In other words, what is expected of me as your disciple?"

Aoide smiled approvingly. "Good, too many have lost their lives hungering for a blessing from the divine. Sometimes, what you wish may not be what you need. Let me explain the situation to you before you make your decision then.

"Unlike Ares, I do not require you to win every single war there is. In fact, there is nothing that I ask of you other than to spread that wonderful voice of yours. Keep my name on your lips and in your heart, that is all I ask in return for my blessing."

Arthur thought about it and it sounded like a winning bargain for him. There didn't seem like specific requests were made of him. He only needed to live his life like usual. "Your grace, I accept."

"Wonderful." Aoide smiled as she admitted, "It would pain my heart to see that voice of yours go to waste. If you refuse my blessing, I would have stolen that voice for myself."

Aoide said that in an off-handed manner but Arthur shivered. It reminded him that he was dealing with a creature of the divine. One wrong move and his life could be snuffed out just like that. Thankfully, he had made the correct choice.

"Now, I will help unlock your rudimentary potential."

Arthur frowned and he asked politely, "Your grace, why not unlock the full potential? Wouldn't that be easier?"

Aoide explained, "I could but the sensory overload might cause you to end up in a state like that man over there." She pointed at Emilio on the ground, "Would you prefer that?"

Arthur shook his head immediately. "No, of course not."

"Okay, now close your eyes and follow my voice. I want you to focus on your inner voice, on the song that is within you." This was more or less like a meditative exercise but instead of finding the spiritual centre, Arthur was taught to look for his 'inner voice'. With Aoide's help, Arthur found himself in a state of spiritual suspension. It was darkness around him but his ears were filled with all sorts of voices, some were shrill and sharp, others were soft and slow. He felt like a lonely man on an island, surrounded by all sides by the sea but it was a sea that knew how to sing to him.

"Welcome to the Voice Library," Aoide's voice appeared in his mind. "Every user of the Voice is innately connected to this place that exist in one's psyche. I suppose you can call this place a collection of all the voices in the known universe.

"The training of Voice magic basically is to filter the voice out from within you so that you can apply them in real life. To master a voice, you need to hear them reflected in real life first. Then you need something called an Echo to form the connection between this voice from the Voice Library and the real world. In other words, you'll need Echoes to unlock new voices. The more powerful the voice, the higher number of Echoes you will need to unlock it.

"As a thank you for protecting this conch shell, I shall gift you your first Echo. You'll need to work for them in the future on your own."

Arthur could 'see' a coagulation of sounds forming before him. He touched it and the voices seemed to merge into his soul. For some reason, Arthur instinctively knew there was an Echo within his possession.

"Wonderful job. That is my first gift to you, the access to the Voice Library and the identification of Echoes. Find me more Musical Instruments of Mythical Nature and surrender them to me in my name and I shall reward you with more gifts.

"Now, let me see if you have come across any powerful voice in your journey thus far."

The world shifted somehow and seconds later, Arthur sensed a music sheet extricating itself from the sea of voices.

"Oh, you have. Let us take a look. Vocal Materialization. Simple magic but it's perfect for a beginning Voice user. It also only needs one Echo to unlock. See if you can master this voice."

Arthur reached out towards the music sheet and it unfurled to reveal a song that streamed into Arthur's ears. Instead of music, Arthur heard data and information.

Vocal Materialization

Level: 1

Origin: Elite Phantasm

Voice details: Just like how they have mastered the ability to phase in and out of the physical realm, elite phantasms can apply this unique technique to their voices as well.

Echoes required to unlock: 1

After Arthur made the decision to unlock it, the Echo disappeared from Arthur's psyche and the musical notes escaped from music sheet which represented Vocal Materialization and entered Arthur's mind. When the music sheet dried up and disappeared, Arthur had mastered Vocal Materialization.

Aoide's voice appeared once more, "You'll notice that you have the ability to upgrade your unlocked voices and that naturally will require more Echoes.

"Arthur, you have been a wonderful student and that is all I can teach you for now. Go forth into the world with my blessing and make your voice known!"

Arthur opened his eyes and he found himself back in the pavillion. The woman who called herself the goddess, Aoide had disappeared. Everything was how it was earlier, it felt like Arthur had imagined the whole interaction.
