After making sure the Blood Mother was definitely not coming back to life, Arthur quickly went to check up on his friend's condition. There was a huge wound on Felicia's shoulder and her face was scarily pale.

Unlike Felicia, Arthur had not been given any training in first aid. He did not know what to do in this situation other than reaching into his backpack to grab the bottles of potion he bought back at Armana and handed them over to Felicia.

Felicia accepted one and when she tried to twist the cap open, her face grimaced from the pain. Seeing the worried expression on Arthur's face, Felicia tried to make light of the situation, "Arthur, don't worry. It's just a flesh wound, the village doctor should be able to heal this."

Felicia downed the health potion and after the potion started to take effect, Felicia looked slightly better. She picked herself up from the floor and went to her own kit to apply first-aid on herself. Arthur offered to help and she agreed. Through the process, Felicia made use of the opportunity to teach Arthur some rudimentary lesson on first aid. She figured it would be a useful skill to have especially since they were adventurers.

After Felicia's shoulder was properly bandaged, Felicia suggested they go check up on the children. Arthur told Felicia to go ahead as he moved to the pile of dusty clothes which was all that remained of the Blood Mother and the ghost baby. Felicia frowned as she watched Arthur walk over to the pile of musty clothes, she could not figure out what could have interested Arthur about that pile of trash.

However, since she was worried about the children, she did not linger and left the ballroom to head to the back porch.

Arthur rummaged through the folds of cloth before finally finding the stuff that he was looking for. He pulled it out and admired it in his hands. Ever since he saw it on the Blood Mother's lips for the first time, Arthur had a feeling it was something that would be useful to him.

He held the smooth wooden pipe in his hands and admired its delicate craftsmanship. Beyond that, he could also feel the quiet magic radiating off it. It was the wooden pipe used by the Blood Mother to put the group of children into a trance like state. Now that he held it in his hand, Arthur was sure that this was one of the musical instruments of mythical proportions that he was tasked to look for by his patron, Aoide. He could sacrifice them to her in exchange for new powers. As excited as Arthur was at that prospect, he knew it was not yet time to do that. There were many loose ends that needed to be tied up.

Arthur kept the pipe and moved to meet up with Felicia. When Arthur arrived at the back porch, Felicia was squatting down on the ground, using the edge of her skirt to wipe away the blood that was left on the girl's face. Seeing this, Arthur realized the Blood Mother was not lying when she said, she was merely transporting the girl to somewhere safe.

This raised some questions within Arthur. Even now, he had conflicting opinions on the Blood Mother. Without her intervention, the girl would have been dead already and the Blood Mother did care about these children in her own special way, however, it was also undeniable that she was using them as source of life essence to keep her ghost baby alive.

Arthur shook his head, deciding it was pointless to dwell in the past. The Blood Mother had been slaughtered and nothing would change that fact.

Arthur moved close to Felicia and Felicia asked him to take care of the other children. They, including the girl, was still unconscious. The children were mostly unharmed and Felicia and Arthur accompanied them until they woke up. The girl was the last to gain her consciousness, probably because she suffered the most from the trauma during the fight and the after-effect of the ritual being broken when it was her turn.

The children huddled together and they looked at Felicia and Arthur with caution. They had been taken care by the Blood Mother for so long that it was understandable if they were afraid of outsiders.

It felt like the wrong thing to tell them that their guardian had been murdered so Felicia came up with a white lie and told them that the Red Mother had to leave them because she had to go somewhere far away and unfortunately she could not take them with her. The last thing she said before she left was for them to be good kids and return to their parents.

Initially, the children did not believe her but after some persuasion, Felicia who had always been good with people, managed to befriend the children. They felt good vibes from her and chose to believe what she had to say. Felicia knew it was wrong to lie to innocent kids but she could not leave the group of children in the middle of nowhere and the best solution was to bring them back to their parents.

Felicia smiled internally when she realized the children responded to her positively, she had no doubt while this was an interesting episode of their childhood, they would eventually forget all about it when they grew up. That was good because Felicia did not want them to be scarred by this incident for life.

Arthur though who stood to the side noticed there was one child that did not react in the same way as the rest. Even though she acted like the rest of the children, there was just something about her that stood out. In fact, Arthur even managed to catch her eyeing Felicia with something akin to suspicion in her eyes when she thought no one was looking. The girl was the second girl, the girl who had the ghost baby's blood sprayed on her face, the girl who saw them fight the Blood Mother.
