Perhaps the zombie general was merely using the horde of undead as a distraction from the very beginning. Arthur's consecutive shouts had been holding him back so he summoned the horde to distract Arthur. This was how he was going to get the valuable opening to come after Arthur.

The staff smashed the rotting zombies that stood in his way. With the twist of his wrist, the staff flicked the zombies away like he was swatting away buzzing flies. In a way, the zombie general was putting his stamp on Arthur, this target was mine and no one else's. If any of you dared to stand in my way, be prepared to face my wrath!

Alas, none of the rotting zombies had the brain capacity left to really understand what the zombie general was trying to imply. Their mind was completely focused on Arthur, they ignored the general.

This meant that many rotting zombies fell under the wrath of the general's staff as he charged down his warpath.

The staff came close to hitting Arthur. Thankfully, the young man had been keeping an eye on the general's movement. While he was handling the horde of rotting zombies, Arthur made sure to keep at least a part of his attention on the zombie general. He did not lose sight of the real threat in the room.

As the staff flew at him, Arthur swiftly shuffled backwards, his feet kicking away the carcasses of the rotting zombies that he had killed earlier.

He kept his distance just close enough that it felt like the staff was just an inch before his reach. If the zombie general had just moved one minute faster, he would be able to hit Arthur. To pursue him, the zombie general charged relentlessly forward.

Arthur's eyes stayed focused on the movement of the tip of the staff to make sure that he would not be hit. Other than that, he also kept his gaze glued to the feet of the zombie general. He paid close attention to the steps that his enemy was taking towards him.

The situation did not look optimistic. Arthur was one swipe away from being knocked to the ground and if that happened, the young man would be swamped by the relentless horde of zombies… and not to mention the incredibly powerful zombie general. In fact, with the undead raising power of the staff that the general held, Arthur had a suspicion that he might even end up as the general's mindless lackey once his soul and life had been sucked out of his physical vessel.

However, as dangerous as the situation was, Arthur still had a smile on his face. As the zombie general stepped closer to him, the excitement in the young man's eyes grew. 'Things are slowly falling into place.'

As the zombie general ran across the spot that Arthur was standing earlier, the young man snapped his fingers and said with relief, "Got you!"

Seconds after he said that, the ground underneath the zombie general's feet lit up with fire. A raging flame exploded into existence and it swallowed the zombie general whole.

This was the explosive seal that Arthur had laid down earlier. The young man felt thankful that he had bought two when he visited the shop at Celestia. One he had already used during his battle with the mummy wrap and the second one, he was using it now.

Standing not far away from the burn site, Arthur could feel the heat wave rushing at him when the explosion happened. The young man raised his hands subconsciously to shield his eyes and face.

Through the violent crackling of the fire, Arthur could hear the low growls and groans of the zombie general. The other rotting zombies that were close to the general were caught in the flame as well. The flames moved too fast for the shuffling zombies to escape… not that they were trying to anyway.

The rotting zombies struggled in the blast of fire before they toppled to the ground in the form of charred sticks. Their features were so burned that one could barely tell they were zombies anymore.

Turns out there is another weakness to the zombies other than decapitation.

With that information in mind, Arthur channeled his voice to push the remaining rotting zombies into the fire while it was still burning. 'Better not waste any resources' thought Arthur.

Those who were too far from the fire, Arthur had no choice but to take them down with a cut to the neck.

Eventually, the room became pretty much quiet except for the sound of the flickering flames. The rotting zombies had either been taken care or they had gone back into their hiding place. Since they were not coming after Arthur anymore, Arthur did not have the mind to purposely go after them. He was not going to get any benefits from chasing after fled foes.

The young man turned his focus to the pit of fire that was still burning. However, the size and scale had gotten much smaller compared to when the explosion first occurred.

The fire had exhausted quite a large percentage of oxygen in the room and it filled up the air with soot and smog. Arthur waved his arms around to try to stop the ash from getting into his nostrils.

Arthur looked at the dwindling bonfire and was about to sigh in relief, thinking that was the end of everything when he heard something that made his heart squeeze.

Arthur turned to the centre of the flames and he could pick out the frame of a familiar figure making his way out from the fire.

The thing that confirmed the general's identity was the ringing of the bell as he moved towards Arthur.

'It didn't work?!' Arthur thought with desperate urgency. Looks like the zombie general was unlike the mummy wrap, it was not fully previous to fire damage.

While Arthur was contemplating his next step, the zombie general suddenly picked up speed. He launched himself at Arthur, with embers still flickering on his body.

Arthur was too overwhelmed by the failure of his plan to anticipate the sudden movement from the zombie general!
