The search for the exit became even more difficult with the lights gone. Of course, Arthur could have relied on his voice and echolocation to find his way but there were two issues with that.

One, he had done quite a thorough search of the entire maze with his voice already. When he was building the mental map in his mind using echolocation, Arthur had already scanned the entire layout of the place. The exit did not jump out at him and if there was indeed one in the throne room or anywhere else in the maze for that matter, it would require a much more extensive search.

That led to the second problem. Arthur was not an endless dynamo. The multiple battles, especially the one with the zombie general had exhausted plenty of his resource. His throat was already feeling raw from utilizing his voice so many times. He had no idea how much longer he could keep this up.

Just as Arthur wandered what to do, the wind carried a voice into the young man's ears. Arthur's eyes frowned with both consternation and hope as he perked his ears up to pick up the sound better.

The sound was distorted as it traveled through the distance and the many corners of the underground crypt but with Arthur's gifted sense of hearing, he could still hear it quite well. It sounded like someone calling his name.

"Arthur…"

Arthur was quick to calm himself down. It would behoove him to be cautious at all occasion. Perhaps this was just an echo or even worse, another one of the nasty surprises prepared by the underground crypt. There was no need for Arthur to get ahead of himself.

However, once the voice repeated itself for the second time, Arthur knew he was not just imagining things. "Arthur, if you're down there, please give me a response!"

Arthur sighed in relief and his heart leaped with joy. He already thought the voice sounded quite familiar when he heard it the first time around but now that he was given a chance to hear it again, he was sure this was someone he had met before. Ian, the foreman of the coal mine really did pull through for him!

Ian was there when the cave in that dropped Arthur down the wall and into the crypt happened. He must have gone to get help for Arthur after that.

Arthur gathered his voice and threw his voice as far as he could with his ability. Then, he shouted at the top of his lungs. "Brother Ian, I'm down here. Thank you for coming back for me!"

Ian and his team probably were surprised that they would get a reply. After all, they knew about the potential danger that would be lurking inside the abandoned crypt. It took them quite some time to get over that shock because the reply from them came about one minute later.

"Arthur, we're glad that you're okay. Do you need our help down there? Just wait a little while longer, we'll be coming to get you." A channel of communication was thus formed between the two parties.

Ian planned to order his men to get down the wall to get Arthur, Ian was worried that the young man was injured on his earlier fall and would need additional help. Arthur stopped the man, thanked him for his concern, assured him that he was perfectly fine and told him to wait.

Due to Arthur's Voice Throwing, it sounded to Ian that the young man was closer to the opening than he actually was. As Arthur raced through the maze with echolocation, the series of shouts that drifted up to the opening confused Ian and his team.

The workers turned to Ian for explanation. Why was the man shouting non-stop as he made his way to the exit?

Ian merely shrugged and said, "Perhaps this is the adventurer's way."

Ian wasn't that curious. He was simply glad that Arthur sounded safe.

Arthur eventually reached the spot where the landslide occurred. "Brother Ian, I'm directly below you now. You can drop the rope now."

Seconds later, Arthur heard the lash of rope as it wiggled through the air. The end of the rope appeared before him. Arthur curled the rope around his waist and the zombie general's staff. When he was done, he pulled on the rope and yelled, "Okay, I'm ready."

As Arthur was lifted through the air, he also used his legs to climb on the wall so that the miners would not be the only one working.

As Arthur broke through the opening that the miners reopened, he had not been so happy to see so many human faces in his life. Inside the crypt, he was trapped with various types of undead and it felt nice to be among human company again.

Ian squatted down next to Arthur and handed him a bottle of mineral water and wet cloth. "Here, you must be thirsty. And use this to clean yourself up, you look so dirty from all the dust and grime."

When he was down in the crypt, Arthur had not been paying attention but once Ian brought it up, Arthur looked at his clothes and he realized they were caked in dirt and dust.

Ian was glad that they found Arthur in a relatively healthy state, they expected far worse. After he confirmed that Arthur was fine, Ian thanked the miners and ordered them to go back to work. Before they left, Arthur also made sure to thank them personally. If they did not come to help him, the young man really had no idea how much longer he would be trapped down there.

Ian eventually stood up and extended his hand to Arthur. Arthur accepted it and Ian pulled the young man up.

"Thank you," Arthur said.

"Can you walk on your own?" Ian asked even though he saw no discernible injury on Arthur's body.

Arthur nodded.

"Come on then. Let's head out and you can tell me what happened down there on our way out."
