When we arrive at my house I can see that my mother was standing in the front lawn. I can see a worried expression in her face and when she sees James's car approaching the house she takes a big step to our directions. She must be worried about the experiment result or so I thought. But after I look closely it's more of a hopeful face rather than a worried face. After the car stopped my sister run towards her and tackle my mom makes her stumble. I mean I get that she's scared about this whole experience and the fact that she goes all through this without breaking down is amazing already. I mean, She's 15 for god sake.
My mother pat my sister back calming her down while James helps me to get off the car and get on my personal floating device. While calming my sister I saw my mother take a peek at me a couple of time. I asked James whether he wants to stay for a bit but he said his father already sent him a message so he will go home first and maybe will visit later in the evening. James says goodbye and hop onto his ride and go on his way.
We walk inside our house and Alice was so tired that she goes face first into the couch. I told my mom about the experiment and also introduce her to Luna. Luna is still hanging out in my shoulder with her eyes closed and my mom doesn't seem to bother about a snake that hangs around in her son's neck. I was going to join the sleeping club with Alice when my mom stops me.
"How were your legs?"
"Whaaaaaaaat? How do you know??? So the experiment really have an effect on my legs?" I was surprised by her questions.
"I'm not exactly sure that's why I'm asking. So can you move it? Can you walk?"
"No, I can't. I can wiggle my toes and the sense of having legs are back but I can't move it," I said with a sad face ready to face her expressions that she would give me every time an experiment failed to heal me. Her face becomes so bright and happy the moment she heard I got to sense with my leg again. Tears start dropping from her face and she smacks my head lovingly and hugs me tight.
"You're supposed to be genius aren't you. How can someone who hasn't move his lower body for 10 years walk with his own two feet after he treated for only one day?"
My brain starts to works and I realize that all the stupids miscalculation that I made. Because of the game likeability, I got from the experiment my brain switch gears and automatically think everything as an in-game world. Let alone walks after being paralyzed for 10 years, in a game world you can even respawn after you died a few minutes before. When the experiment doesn't have the instant effect that I thought it would give, I buried my dreams so I don't get disappointed. I start imagining all the possible thing that could happen and tears start to roll down my face.
"Do you mean I ca..."
"Yep," My mom cut me short as if knowing what I'm going to ask.
"But how? All the doctors before said that it would be impossible and even all the medical trial that we've been going through. Hell, we even tried the sketchy underground research center. If the government have this experiment figured out since long ago why do they not announce it? What exactly is this experiment? Can it cure all illness that ever been recorded? Is it some kind of panacea or something?" I barrage my mom with a ton of questions cause from her reactions I know that she knew something.
"This experiment has only set in motion about a year ago. They got the research data and all the materials that needed for this from a sketchy source so we need to pace it really carefully. And no this is not some kind of panacea that can cure everything. This experiment alters some of your brains DNA to gives you an ability that not from this world. In the process of giving you the ability, some part of your brains would be destroyed and something that I'm not really sure of would remake all it functions to the most optimal ways. The cause of your paralysis is located in your brain so I figure that there's a chance that the experiment would have a slim chance to heal you."
"How do you know all this? And since when? Does it means that the government knows that the world is going to end for like at least a year and they didn't announce it? They can evacuate all the people on earth in one year why didn't they do that? As bad as mars are it's still better than dying planet who cough up disaster every weekend."
"The inial plan was to evacuate everyone to mars in like 5 years but the earth deteriorating too fast and the mars have not been prepared to host all of the people 5 years early in development. The research to colonize Mars only have been finished like 5 years ago and it needs at least 10 years to develop a sustainable environment in a barren planet."
I ready myself to barrage my mom with another question after she finishes her sentence when she holds her hand in front of me and said.
"For now, hold all your questions after your dad come back tomorrow. He's better at explaining stuff to you and he knows more about this thing than me. I don't want to wake your sister up in all these commotions. And you know better than I do if she know all this her brain would be short-circuited and unable to keep her calm. And you of all people should know that in a dire situation a calm minded people are the one that would make it out alive."
I float up to my rooms and lay flat down in my bed while Luna trying a few different spots until she decides to curl up on a sofa next to a window. I even skip dinner cause I was too busy processing all the pieces of information that I get during the day. I sleep away while I read the manual that the principal gave to all of us. All along, I was wondering about of a way to make use of my power and how would the government take the advantages of the powerful peoples.
