Evening came and after a few hours of socializing with their new squad, May and Taf decided they would take a further tour of the sect.

They had asked Niesha about the whereabouts of two individuals they had lost the previous contact with, both Lisa Paldon and Damian. These were the other two recruits from Marvel City.

Though they couldn't be deemed even acquaintances by any stretch of the imagination, they weren't averse to the idea of checking in on them. This might stem from them having similar backgrounds in a strange new environment.

Soon before them, they saw living quarters that a pig would look at in disdain while referring to them as utter squaller. It was a complete contrast to their pristine living conditions with spacious homes, beautiful courtyards and brick-laden roads.

Here the living quarters were made with untreated wood shown by the slight signs of termite infestation. Each boarding would be a small room in any of their manors, yet it housed upwards of six occupants.

As they walked the roads were muddy with small puddles of settled water, making it a hindrance for those who had to traverse its terrain frequently.

Before arriving May and Taf were expecting inferior living conditions but not to this extent. This brought Taf's mind back to the time before he had met old man Ming.

The cold nights taking refuge from the rain under an abandoned merchant's stall. Hearing the rain clattering against the zinc roofing while watching everyone hurrying to their dry cozy homes. Being looked at with scorn by the passers-by in the morning as he shivered in his clothes that had been dirtied with mud.

" If you truly want to see the face of the world, see it through the eyes of an outcast. I really hated their stares that made me feel less than human.

I envied those kids that called out mom and dad, I pitied that being I saw when I looked in the mirror. He was so puny and scrawny, dirty from head to toe, could he be loved? Was he deserving of a home? he too wanted to be embraced when he fell and bled.

Am I too not destined to have the smallest of blessing? Since you will not give me, then I will take it. I'll persevere, then you will all see me and know that I exist and I am of significance.."

For a moment Taf felt his chest ache as he had a momentary flashback to his past self.

" What's wrong, are you feeling well?"

May suddenly asked after noticing an odd expression on his face...

" It's nothing, I'm fine. Let's go see what those two have been up to. I have a feeling it will be quite difficult finding them.."

Taf smiled while responding to May as he was brought back to the present time. By the look on her face, May didn't seem to believe him and was still slightly worried...

" All is well I assure you.."

He dragged her hand pulling her along playfully as they walked...

On the roads, they saw persons walking about in their sect attire. They did not wear the traditional colors of black and purple. All wore grey that was quite bland in comparison, this clothing was worn by sect members with less than favorable affinities.

These members potential might be estimated to arrive at the 5th or 6th stage qi condensation the most. Which was sadly the category both Lisa and Damian fell in.

" Now it all made sense why anonymous corpse number one associated with mortals. He was looked down and belittled in his sect but when amongst mortals he was akin to that of a god.

I had a hint that was the case but seeing it now has made it a clear. Why live in squaller when kingship awaits huh?

Why then did these sect members lower themselves to this extent? Maybe they initially expected more and have aspirations to rise above their circumstances going against fate.

It might also simply be that they are too ashamed to return to their towns and villages after leaving with such hope and promise."

The thought crossed Taf's mind as he sensed the feeble qi that was being emitted from all those that wore grey. As the two walked they received envious stares from each and everyone that saw them.

There was also slight fear as they quickly ensured that their gazes did not linger too long. It can be seen that they did not receive favorable treatment from those who wore similar clothing in the past.

Soon they saw others dressed in purple and black such as themselves. They were a group containing both males and females.

A youth whose face was riddled with ache was seemingly the lead as all laughed at the words he spoke.

" The last sparring partner I acquired from these parts I expected to be disappointing but not to such an extent. I gave him 10 lqs for two measle minutes, One kick the next second he was on the ground crying that his innards hurt.

This bastard was in his mid 20's and at the 4th stage, I've taken shits with more dexterity than that fool."

After he spoke a chorus of laughter was heard from his audience...

" So surely you were reimbursed..."

One of the females who was somewhat short joked...

" Nah, I ensured to get every bit worth out of my payment. I kicked him around on the floor. Looked at my tiles they had never been cleaner. I didn't get an adequate sparring partner but I now know the remedy to acquire sparkling tiles."

They once more burst out into laughter as all who wore grey hurried on to their duties in slight fear they would gain unnecessary attention.

" I've always been envious of those tiles of yours and wondered what was the secret, so now all has been exposed..."

The girl of short stature voice once more was heard...

" Shhh, I haven't patented it as of yet, I'm thinking of calling it Shaun's easy floor and tile stain remover. Let's say it's a work in progress..."

As they all once more were nearly in tears by the youth, May and Taf made their way past the group. They had heard every word spoken by the youth but they tried to ignore as best as they could. Especially May who became irritated the more he spoke.

She wondered how someone could be so cruel and then talk about inflicting pain on an innocent party. He did it without any seeming remorse and instead wore it as a badge of honor.

" I swear I'll bash his mouth in if he utters another word.."

She stated to Taf who was way calmer. He knew how people could be and from his experiences in the past, he met countless persons such as this.

The same could not be said for May who had lived a life devoid of such interactions and persons. Though he told her stories, it was something quite different when seeing it in person.

" It's alright, keep calm, there is an infinite amount of these sort of idiots in the world. If you allow them to bother you at every turn, when will you ever have time for things of importance huh?"

Taf's words seemingly had their desired effect as May slowly faded the youths previous words from her memory.

"You're right let's go.."

As they moved past the laughter had stopped and all eyes were staring at the two. Especially at May who garnered attention wherever she went with that silver hair of hers.

" Both of you halt!"

A cry was heard from the youth called Shaun. He gulped as he saw May who was such a beauty with an exotic touch of silver hair. He wasn't the most handsome of fellows and his talent was ordinary. So though the girls might laugh at his jokes, that was the most they would see him for, a joker.

However, here was a beauty with no qi being emitted within his very grasp. Obviously she wasn't from these parts shown by her attire but if he could make some form of an impression on this new recruit.

Soon he felt like cold water had been poured on his head as both ignored his words and continued to walk.

He fumed as he saw the crowds he had gathered beginning to chuckle at him. He then readied to unleash his qi but as soon as the mere intent was felt, there was a gust of wind.

Before him, he saw the youth with dreads that had accompanied the exotic beauty. He didn't know why but before this youth he felt like a sheep before a pack of wolves.

There was no time to react as a hand was placed to the right side of his face holding him firmly in place.

" You remind me so much of those kids in the past, had it all yet you still thought it fun to pick on others because you could. Guess your little story jolted me more than I thought."

The crowd became panicky as not one of them saw when the youth had made a move. They all knew without a doubt this was someone not to be trifled. There was an awry chill that overcame them, the sun was still out in its glory yet they felt as though they were in the desert at midnight. None dared to take a step from fear.

" I'm sorry I shouldn't have bothered you."

There was no emotion from Taf as he stared into the pleading eyes of Shaun.

"Every single one of you hand over your pouches and we will call it a day."

He then smiled at the crowd who didn't know how to respond to his demand.

"Yo...You're robbing us in broad daylight, we will definitely report this to the elders?"

The short female who was a focal point in Shaun's previous joke stuttered along as she offered a threat.

" Yes I am indeed robbing you. Oh, you will huh? will that be before or after you have lost the ability to walk? If you prefer to crawl I am more than willing to oblige you.."

Two small hammers were then summoned to his hands as he playful twirled them while staring the girl dead in her eyes which caused her limbs to go limp. This had the desired result as one after the other pouches were thrown in his direction.

Not to be left out May then guided the pouches towards her. As she scanned their contents one by one disappointment showed on her face.

Not only were they being robbed but each within the group felt as though even more insult was added to the injure by the face she wore after scanning.

" To think there is not one among you with in excess of 150 lqs, this is really pathetic and you have the gall to look down on others. You can't be walking around with this small amount of lqs, Now this I think we should report to the elders ourselves. "

May uttered as she threw back the emptied pouches without any care they fell in a puddle of dirty water. The short female within the group seemingly couldn't contain her fury as she lunged out at May..

SLAP! SLAP!

One after another May's open palm pelted across her face, with each slap she remembered how this girl had been the one encouraging the youth's boasting the most. They became louder and louder as the girl's face started to swell like a balloon before being thrown in the same puddle as the pouches.

" Isn't she sweet..?"

Taf grinned at Shaun after watching May handle her affairs. While he grinned Shaun was in horror...

" If you touch me my older brothers will surely hear of this, they are twins at the 9th stage. You might have heard rumors of them, the Parker brothers."

Being fearful he drew for his ace in the hole. Hearing his words Taf put his hand to his chin thinking...

" You mean the Parker Parker brothers!"

He exclaimed somewhat in awe which caused a big smirk to grow on Shaun's face as he regained his confidence. It was soon doused however by Taf's next words...

" Never heard of them, but when I am done with you, you can tell them to pay the Mouse a visit. He I think would love nothing but to entertain them.."

He gripped on to the youth's neck who unleashed his qi to its full extent. However, he was shocked to see Taf did not flinch the least but just provided a chuckle.

" Did I tell you how much I liked that floor cleaner idea of yours. How about I buy its patent, hmmm, but before I do i will surely have to test the validity of your claims. Buyer beware right...?"

The realization finally dawned on Shaun as to what Taf words met but it was too late as he was forceable dragged over where there were some gritty rocks...

" Does it smoothen rocks I wonders? Hmmm, let's test my theory.."

To be continue...
