Shaun screamed as Taf dragged him across the gritty rocks in pain.

" This is puzzling, I thought you would be championing your creation, I take it this is not your strong suit, Not much of a salesperson are you?"

He then lifted him up throwing him in a muddy puddle. Looking at Shaun's face you would think he had a run-in with a grater he owned money. The left side was bloody with torn and unhealthy looking skin.

" I think I will pass, I would rather my floors be devoid of blood, thank you very much."

Taf wore a pleasant smile as though he had just refused an offer for a slice of cake.

" You fucking psychopath, this is not the end. You will get what's coming to you..."

Shaun blew up in rage as his face burnt from the pain. He dared not touch it as even the wind's gentle touch was no different from cuts from a razor blade at the moment.

" Now now, that's not the way to talk to a prospective future client. Oh, and by the way, I hope it doesn't end here indeed.

Wouldn't it be a waste to have these psychopathic tendencies and not use them? Remember to give that message to those brothers of yours. Tell them Sir Mouse awaits..."

No more attention was paid to Shaun or his group as both May and Taf turnt their backs continuing on their journey.

" He keeps referring to a damn Mouse, Who the hell is Sir...?"

Shaun thought before looking on the back of Taf where he saw embroidered in bold letters, Sir Mouse.

??????????

While walking more and more persons could be seen in grey. Staying true to form they distanced themselves from the two as they walked...

" Damn this is taking forever, at this rate we will never find them. How about we look for them some other time May? I got it, right after we have completed the mission.."

Seemingly bored by the whole ordeal and not too keen on the visit Taf then uttered..

" Come on Taf they are the closest thing to home right now. Aren't you worried about how they have adjusted? After seeing these conditions there is a need for us to ensure they have settled in a bit...

May then gave him a smile to which he could just sigh before replying...

" Fine, you always make it hard for me to say no, don't you? You should teach me some time..."

He grinned as he once more added some pep to his steps..

" Teach sir, can't you see it's an innate gift, you have to be born with it..."

She playfully flashed her silver hair as she teased while smirking, to which Taf could only laugh in response...

Soon they saw a building that was quite contrary to its surrounding, its structure seemed solid and was made of bricks.

Though not grand by any stretch of the imagination, compared to what surrounded it, it was a palace fit for kings and queens. On the front, there was a sign " Lower rank housing, missions, and services".

The door was closed as if no one was there, which they found odd seeing that the sun was still somewhat out.

Knock! Knock!

May sought for clues to their query through knocking the door...

" Come in.."

An old voice uttered. Hearing his words May then attempted to open the door, however, it seemingly rubbed on the ground causing a scraping sound...

" Bloody hell! How many times do I have to say it? Lift the bloody door when opening, it is a damn simple thing to learn. Are you all damn daft?"

The grumpy old voice berated May's actions in seeming totally annoyance. However, when he saw the two he quickly caught his tongue before the next words were uttered.

When they finally saw the owner of the voice, he was an old man with hair of only grey. His clothing too was grey, there he nervously sat in a rocking chair as his foot that was perched on a desk made of oak quickly adjusted.

" Dare gifted seniors this old junior apologizes. You see this old man suffers from a slight case of schizophrenia. The mind tends to deteriorate further with age, not to mention my slight condition..."

Cough! cough!

He started to violently cough...

" Thought you had schizophrenia, why are you describing the symptoms of dementia and acting out the flu.."

Taf uttered seemingly unphased by the old man's actions....

" Oooh yeah, I have those too. Young senior, what can I say this old man is plagued with illness.."

The Old man then once more started to cough...

" Listen, gramps, I am not going to give you a hard time over a simple misunderstanding. I am just here for some information.."

How could Taf not see through this old man's seeming facade...

" Oooh wearing the colors of purple and black yet not as stuck up. Isn't this a sight for sore eyes? Did you steal that attire I wonder?"

The old man laughed at Taf's response which only showcased his missing teeth...

" I'm looking for two recruits enrolled last year. They are Lisa Paldon and I can't quite recall the youth's last name but his first is Damian.."

The old man's comment was then totally ignored by Taf as he went on with it...

" Which recruits in these parts could be so fortunate. This is a quite easy task, just give me a minute..."

Soon an old dusty book was summoned in his grasp which apparently had stood the test of time by the way its edges were crumpled...

" There they are.., Rita carry these two to fetch the recruits they seek.."

At the summons of the old man a young girl with glasses also dressed in grey could be seen.

If they assessed her they would realize her qi level was at the 5th qi condensation. She wore a smile as she greeted the two, then putting away a book that she apparently was reading...

" As you wish master..."

She was then handed a parchment before heading to the door...

" Please follow me..."

She then had her hand held out showing the exit while keeping the door ajar to which both May and Taf followed.

Seeing the door closed behind the three a chuckle could be heard from the old man, before he once more closed his eyes and placed his foot on the oak desk, then reclining in his rocking chair...

While outside the girl referred to as Rita observed the two while slowing the pace somewhat...

" So you both are new recruits to the sect. There must be extreme talent to have received your uniforms already...."

She curiously inquired of the two. However, Taf had his hand in his pockets and his gaze elsewhere. At the moment he didn't feel like filling out some questionnaire from someone he just met. May, on the other hand, responded briefly with a smile...

" I guess nothing really out of the ordinary compared to others."

By the two's reaction, she didn't look favorable to Taf who seemed to lack simple etiquette. Treating her like a nosy person just by her simple question. Seeing that he was a dead-end she continuously tried making conversation with May.

Soon they arrived at there destination where Rita then said her goodbyes with a smile to May while not giving Taf the merest of glances. Obviously she still held his previous disregard of her against him.

" Taf she seemed nice why were you so cold to her..?"

May asked seemingly puzzled by Taf reaction. However, knowing the person he was there was a meaning behind his every action.

" Simple, she is not the person who she attempts to convey. Her clothing is grey yet she acts in total contrast to the others around. With each question she posed to you, she tried to assess you like a potential rival that possibly is inferior to her.

That in itself was odd but the most telling thing, however, is her qi level is at the 5th stage yet it felt she might be able to rival those at the 6th. Now, why would someone with such talent be ever confined to these parts and take a master she already exceeds?"

As Taf spoke he saw Damian just exiting one of the small boardings with his usually panicky demeanor.

" Damn I didn't notice any of that. I was a bit naive wasn't I?"

May stopped for a moment as she realized what had occurred...

" Don't be hard on yourself, I told you the hardest part of your training will be reading and assessing people. It will take time and experience, thus the reason I let her continue her little charade. You did well, however, giving as many vague responses as possible."

He then smiled as he held her hand to cheer her up somewhat...

" How about the old man?"

May asked after thinking it through a bit...

" Him I didn't have much clue about, to be honest. If it hadn't been for her, he would have never truly caught my eyes as he has now. I too am learning it seems right., for now, I don't think it needs much thinking as we bumped into them by chance..."

Soon the two met up with Damian who was ecstatic to see them. He told them about his hardships that he faced after moving from Marvel City.

Having the personality he does he was a constant victim of bullying which was expected. He also told them of the stern warning given to both himself and Lisa about disclosing any detail of what occurred in Marvel City.

" Taf there is something I want to ask but..but.., you see I am kind of nervous to ask seeing that we aren't close friends and all."

Damian stuttered along. It can be said he was a bit intimidated by the youth before him. Afterall he was The fabled Mouse, the one faired by the most vicious of criminals in Marvel city. Not to mention what he now understood about his talent...

" Will you spit it out...? I only have one life to live, don't let me die before you decide to end that statement of yours."

After Damian kept going around in circled Taf started to become a bit annoyed with his cowardly tendencies. This fellow's lack of backbone was a real sour point for Taf.

" Can I be your servant. Now hear me out..."

Damian hurried to say sensing he was getting on Taf's nerves...

" No!"

Before he could finish his statement Taf flat out refused...

" But.., you didn't even hear me out."

A whimper was heard from Damian as he heard Taf's immediate refusal..

" I don't need to hear the simple fact is..."

As Taf was speaking to Damian who became ever more withdrawn with his words. He felt a squeeze on his arm and looking to his side he saw May giving him a knowing look.

" Sigh.., ok I will be honest with you, I despise weakness born from being a coward. It a trait I find most unbecoming of any man.

I will, however, give you one chance to show me in one form or the other that you are not this individual that I think you are. You have six (6) month to do just one act of bravery.

I issue you this challenge to prove me wrong, do you dare accept?"

Taf sternly gazed into Damian eyes to which he quickly looked away. Seeing this Taf was a bit disappointed but then he heard a timid voice trying its hardest to be bold...

" I'll prove you wrong. Challenge accepted."

For the first time while in the company of Damian both May and Taf heard him say something with some form of confidence.

" I know you won't but I sure hope you do.."

Taf then patted his shoulder before giving him his frequency number. May gave him a smile as well as some encouraging words...

" Give it your all. Remember you are from that city they call Marvel, after all..."

There Damian stood as he saw the two making their way towards a residence in the distance. For the first time in a long while, there was some burning desire in his heart. However, he too wondered if he could do as he so boldly stated.
