"By the way squad leader, I noticed neither myself nor May have received any welcoming gifts. Shouldn't this be a focal point in building team unity? How many days has it been May? I don't feel as welcomed, do you?"

Taf rubbed his chin somewhat as if he was pondering while looking at May.

" I think six, yet no gifts indeed. Taf, don't be hard on our fearless leader however as he strikes me as a man that always has a big plan. A visionary in some regards, So I am excited to see what he has in store for us.

How about it squad leader?"

May too echoed Taf's sentiments while embellishing on them a bit. There she looked at Malgrey with a smile, whose mood had now been soured by the two.

" Didn't I already agree to foot the bill while treating you both..."

A reluctant reply was heard from Malgrey as he now totally forgot about the commander and instead thought of his head aching when dealing with these two.

" That is true May, we forgot to give our fearless leader his due. However, I do recall there being two means for celebration. First, us joining team Malgrey and also our squad's high point, the promotion."

Taf continued to rub his chin while addressing Malgrey...

" Oh I see, so the question now being asked is why are we only being treated to one and not the other."

While May spoke Malgrey who had been doing breathing in and out exercises to stop himself from cursing was just about to say something, before May's next words silenced him...

" Surely he will not say something on the grounds of, combining the two into one big treat. Wouldn't that be for want of better words, Tacky, and making him labeled an inexpensive spender?

No, our leader is held in such high esteem, he definitely wouldn't stoop that low."

Once more May continued and Malgrey could only pray for relief. As usual, his savior came in the form of Niesha who as usual took up the role of mediator in the squad.

" Hey we all are excited about the mission, I for one am quite thrilled to see the outside of these black walls.

Frankly, I have felt like a prisoner for the past year and I'm eager to feel the wind on my face. So how about it, we will continue this conversation while on our way."

Hearing Niesha words Malgrey couldn't be happier. At this moment he truly was grateful he had picked her as his vice squad leader.

Her words had there desired effect as both Taf and May looked at each other while chuckling, after having their bit of fun.

Soon the two flying demon beasts flew off into the distance. There still hovering in place was the patrolling commander and his subordinates.

" That bastard Malgrey's squad has received a tremendous boost in strength with that maniac in his reigns. However, I don't grudge him, how do you control such a loose cannon?"

As he spoke he remembered the cold smirk on Taf's face as he gripped the throat of Kallen while gazing in his eyes unblinking. He shivered as though something cold had been thrown on his back. Soon his team scattered once again going on their patrol.

???????

As the team flew side by side, There was lovren staring at both Taf and May.

" Can I help you with something?"

Seeing his constant stares Taf then questioned...

"Aren't you two tired of always being in the spotlight?"

He asked seemingly unamused by their previous show.

" Does the sun ask for relief from its blaze?"

Taf smirked while responding to which Lovren became silent looking in the next direction.

" Ok everyone pay attention to Niesha as she gives a briefing on the mission."

Malgrey then spoke while nodding to Niesha who still had her broad sword on her lap. Seeing his signal she then pressed a button on her transmitter ensuring everyone could hear her words clearly.

" The information received from the sect stated the mission as follows:

Three squads of the sect, which is inclusive of us Team Malgrey, are to provide assistance to Starlight city in ridding their borders of bandits.

These bandits aren't your usually untrained scum. Their background ranges from being sect exiles, Mercenaries, and rogue cultivators etc.

Now, why is it important that this mission is successful you might ask?

This is simple as starlight city is one of the many pipelines that sustains our sect. The revenues generated allow the sect to thrive as it is at the moment.

For instance, our monthly stipends of Lqs are partially generated through the city. According to sect records, it is our 15th highest income earner. So whenever the city suffers it directly affects us.

Also this can be a gateway for us receiving Cultivation arts and other resources if the job is done to their liking."

hearing her words there was added spark in the squad members eyes. Obviously, these incentives were added motivation.

Only Taf and May still kept there composure. They understood the reasoning behind the excitement and they too wished they could be just as excited.

However, they had major doubts that the cultivation arts they seek would be given as rewards.

" If its the sect's 15th highest income earner why then give a mission of such importance to us. Wouldn't it be safest to send a Lord Realm cultivator in to solve the problem? That seems like the quickest options.."

Listening to the mission given, May then wondered why would they be tasked with this mission. From the description, it was quite an important one.

"Before any mission is handed out the sect would conduct a risk assessment exercise. Based on the assessment the level of risk is given a ranking.

The higher the number, the greater the risk. Since it's listed at the three-star ranking, there aren't any reports of any cultivators from The Realm of Lords.

That being the case the sect would then send a team or teams that they think are enough, handling the problem with minimal effort.

Also, cultivators of that rank are normally occupied with things of far more importance. That's why squads such as ourselves are tasked with these jobs."

Being the patient individual she is Niesha then calmly addressed any questions that the new member might have. She too asked such questions before knowing the procedures of the sect, so it was quite understandable.

Her words apparently addressed all May's question. However, Taf didn't ask any of his own. He just had one problem and that was the distance it took from the sect to the city.

Obviously, if some mistake had been made in their calculations, it would take a whole two day before there could be any assistance from the sect.

He was always taught that there isn't any plan or procedure that is without its flaw. To always look at it until all the flaws are open up before your eyes.
