Within an open spacious area suited for comfort and relaxation, were squad Malgrey. As soon as they had arrived at the gates, they were welcomed by a woman dressed in white. Apparently, she was their escort, Trudy.

She had then informed them of her role, which was catering to there every need. Through this means they avoided the hassle of the busy streets and the interrogation by the guards, before being ushered to their present location.

Seeing that they were first of the three squads to arrive in the city, the squad was then asked to wait kindly for the arrival of the others. Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click www.webnovel.com for visiting.

During their wait, they had been offered an assorted array of refreshments which they did partake in. The journey had been a long exhausting one, so they didn't mind relaxing a bit.

When all three squads arrived they would then be briefed accordingly, after all this was a three-team mission.

While waiting they curiously admired their view from the high rise building they currently found themselves. It could be said the vantage point did allow for quite a view of the city's activities.

As Taf and May walked along the balcony looking on below, they were quite intrigued at what they saw. Excluding the qi being emitted from pedestrians, merchants and the huge demon beasts, this was reminiscent of Marvel City.

" I wonder what they are up to? Knowing that old man it's probably no good.." His mind drifted off as soon before his eyes another image formed..

**Back within the room**

" How long do you think it will take for the arrival of the others?"

Luke curiously asked as they had been waiting for quite a while...

"Honestly, I don't particularly mind us arriving first. It gives us some time to acclimatize ourselves to the city. I do wonder which other teams will take part, however...?"

Of the remaining members, Niesha too apparently was intrigued about the squads who, as of yet, have failed to make an appearance.

" Hopefully it will be two of the few to which we have some good rapport." Lovren too joined in by saying.

??????

The time ticked on before their waiting finally seized as the grand mahogany door they previously entered, was once more opened. Making there way inside was a team made up five who too wore the attires of the Dark Abylis Sect.

Leading them was a woman who from all appearances could be no more than twenty-five. Her qi indicated that she was of the 9th stage of qi condensation.

Her blonde hair was cut short which complimented the contours of her face quite a bit. However, even more attention was drawn to what was on it, as it was partially covered by an odd black mask. Yet, From what was there to been seen, one could tell she was quite the beauty.

A slight tell from her squad indicated she was revered in their eyes as they all tactically walked behind her.

Looking on, the rest of her squad was comprised of three females, of which one was at the 9th and the other two at the 8th.

Of the females, the one at the 9th stage slightly resembled the leader, apparently, they were related. The lone male of the group was surprisingly also at the ninth stage.

Seeing the other occupants in the room they then stared oddly at squad Malgrey.

" Malgrey? This is a surprise, You've been promoted..?"

The leader uttered seemingly startled at Squad Malgrey's inclusion in the mission. By the tone in her voice, it could be said she didn't particularly hold them in high esteems.

She then assessed the members and all were the same as remembered but for two new faces, this was definitely her first time seeing them.

There was May who drew attention where ever she went with that silver hair of hers, and Taf who lazily had one of his foot resting against the wall as the two looked out in the city. These two did not show any signs of qi on their body.

However, for some strange reason, she kept her eyes on the teenage boy. When their eyes met for some reason she felt that her presence was trivial, as he just looked away, which threw her off quite a bit...

So too did the young woman who resembled her but it was for another reason altogether. She remembered the two from an event that unfolded a mere week prior. When one of her neighbour's home had been destroyed 1 .

At the time she had been curious after being informed the two were new recruits, apparently viewed as geniuses. A battle intend was then formed, however, she was in disappointment they had yet to start cultivating.

Now she wondered why the two would be here at the moment in harm's way. Things didn't seemingly add up.

" Ava, it seems we will have the pleasure of working together. Yes, we were promoted only a week prior to the mission.."

Malgrey knew what the underlined tone in her words meant, yet he acted oblivious to her sentiments. In the past he has always felt inferior to this woman and in some ways, he did feel the same now.

Deep down he knew, if it wasn't for Taf's presence in the squad, they would not have warranted the promotion. The thought did not hit home until now when he saw Squad Ava, which had three ninth stage cultivators.

Out of the three members of his squad at the 8th stage, none have made any strides in the past year, hovering below the peak of their stage...

" Sigh, was it really warranted?"

He thought as he skydived from the cloud nine he found himself in for the past week. However, to the side of his eyes, he saw Niesha holding her head up high as though she was not inferior to anyone, looking Ava and her squad members in their eyes.

So too did Lovren who sat beside her with his saber on his back. This calmed him somewhat as his initial thought faded out...

" Well hopefully you will be able to keep up the pace, you're now in uncharted waters. I hate the thought of my squad carrying any additional load. You do understand..?"

Hidden in Ava's words was another slight undertone which the members of squad Malgrey felt was nothing but dirtied water thrown at them on the sidewalks...

" How about you worry about your squad and I'll take care of mine. I have faith in my members to perform how necessary..."

Malgrey responded as contrary to his previous avoidance of her attitude, he now blatantly addressed it, defending his squad.

He then nodded to Niesha and Lovren who became slightly riled up by Ava's slick remarks readying to utter some words but was then calmed.

Hearing Malgrey words Ava seemed bemused as a smile grew on her face...

" We'll see, won't we. From all appearances, your squad has another task taking priority. Tell me now, what's the going rate for a babysitter?"

Her words did bring a chuckle from some of her members behind as her speech became more direct and to the point, while she looked at both May and Taf.

" I have 120 lqs to offer. My demon beast sparrow lacks companionship. How about 10 lqs per hour? I'll even add an additional five for the cleaning of its droppings. This is, of course, on the grounds the job is done to my liking..."

She chuckled as her hand covered her mouth that was the only part of her face clearly shown.

Obviously not amused by her sentiments, Malgrey looked away as he refused to have a war of word with this woman called Ava. He then signalled to his squad to ignore the woman's comment as she was known for getting under the skin of others.

Ava laughed as she eyed Malgrey as though she was playing with her meal. Seemingly bored with the discussion she then made her way to the next side of the spacious room with her team behind. A few looked on with derision but one still had a pondering look as she eyed the balcony.

" Well she is a chatty one, isn't she?"

Taf uttered as he had fully watched the previous confrontation between his squad and these new arrivals, who tried their best to make their presence felt. Not one that normally shies away from a confrontation, he would have no problem having a little fun.

However, he became somewhat intrigued by the method to which Malgrey would handle the situation.

"I'm surprised you didn't offer a reply. She did through a bit of insult in our direction.." May replied while looking at Taf.

" I actually wanted to see how our leader would react and he hasn't disappointed. As for that woman her comments aren't of importance..." Taf continued.

May nodded her head apparently in agreement with his words before once engaging him in conversation as they looked at the passersby below. Soon the two groups acted oblivious to the presence of the others and use their own methods to pass the time before the door once more opened.

Through the door, five individuals walked in with serious expressions on their faces. It was the third squad which was the last to arrive from the Dark Abylis Sect. Contrary to the other squad this one comprised only males and in the lead was a man of average stature.

Similar to squad Ava they had the same strength, as three were at the 9th and the other two at the 8th stage of qi condensation.

" Ava isn't this a surprise, once again our squads will be working together. "

The man smiled to Ava who wore the partial black mask. This was the first group that caught his eye when he entered the room.

" Yes and again your squad has us waiting, tell me, how is it we are both coming from the same location, yet it takes you an additional two hours to arrive. it seems you pride yourself on being tardy Malnor 2 .."

She responded seemingly unimpressed with how Malnor strutted in the room as though he was actually the first to arrive.

" Haha, Always the delight aren't you Ava? I guess it's a good thing my orders aren't received from you, isn't it. I will leave you to ponder on my tardiness by your lonesome."

After ending his conversation with Ava Malnor looked to the other side of the room where he saw squad Malgrey.

This did strike him as odd, their presence was quite unexpected. If asked prior of the teams he thought would be include, they wouldn't even make the list. Not even an honourary mention would be given.

As his eyes looked to the balcony he saw two additional teens conversing. Seeing the youth with dreads he thought for a second he was seeing things. Sensing his gaze the youth smiled before slowly walking over...

" Aah brother Malnor..., what are you doing here?"
