Taf's eyes burnt with a yearning for the chance to face this new impending hurdle. He doused these thoughts however as he knew there was a need to inform the three squads of what was to come.

The prospects of challenging someone above his level excited him but would this be the case for the other? In a sense, he had an idea what their responses would be,however, there was a need to inform them nonetheless.

He then turned the chair around facing the three squad leaders. Of the three both Malnor and Ava were debating what their next possible move might be. After all, one of their members was killed. Surely there was a need to find a means to provide justice.

New to the conversation, the first voice Taf heard was Ava's say, " My suggestion is this, let our three squads each scatter to the perimeters highlighted on the map previously given by the City Lord.

First identifying our enemy before simultaneously attacking with quickness and precision. By this means our targets are unable to provide a counter-attack."

" I wish I could concur with your argument. However, My idea conflicts with your separation of our squads. Sometimes one can't stretch themselves too thin on the battlefield.

In my view, there would be minimal casualties if all three squads acted as one unit." Malnor countered by saying.

Hearing their back and forth arguments, Taf thought it best to notify them of a factor which would derail both their tactics,

"Squad leaders I have some news I dare say will not bolster your confidence in this mission.

Actually, if you value the live of yourselves and that of your squads. Well, I suggest this mission be aborted as soon as possible."

His words caused a momentary silence to take over the room as both Ava and Malnor became quiet. To their side, Malgrey too who had been weighing the ideas of both in his mind was driven out of his thought process.

Malnor's voice was the first to be heard, "Why would there be a need for such a thing?"

There was a bit of anxiety in his speech. From what he knew of Taf, he would definitely not utter such words recklessly.

"So cue the questions, huh?"

Taf uttered to himself before addressing the expectant few.

" Simply because your squads are lacking the capabilities to handle what awaits. You're fighting far above your weight class with there being one within the realm of lords involved."

Taf words garnered odd stares from the three who became silent once more. Soon however the silence was broken by laughter that was first muffled before exploding out for all to hear.

The culprit being Ava who covered her lips and held her gut. Her laugh seemed to be infectious as even Malnor who had been in such a grim mood from the loss of one of his own, wore a smile. Only Malgrey seemingly took his words seriously.

"Kid who knew you were such a joker. I really had you assessed wrongfully. Your deductions have all been spot on previously. Why do you now feel the need to jest?"

Ava inquired with some laughter still in her voice.

The smiling Malnor then went over to Taf before he expressed the sentiments which brought forth his change in expression.

"Taf I needed that bit of lively up but this isn't the time. Now be serious, what have you truly deduced?" Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click www.webnovel.com for visiting.

It could be said that Taf wasn't particularly surprised by the reaction of the two. In his mind, this was justifiable in some regards. It was Malgrey's lack of a similar response that garnered his attention.

He then addressed the three once more by saying.

" There are certain things I would never joke about. Since I stated there was a Lord Realm cultivator involved this puts in danger the lives of myself and May.

There was serious tone as he continued, "Brother Malnor, might I ask where in my words was there a hint of humor?"

Hearing Taf's words the two truly realized he was serious in his findings identifying one of the culprits as a lord realm Cultivator.

" Where are we Kid? From what i can tell it's Starlight City. I was under the impression it is a well-known fact all its inhabitants are within the qi realm.

This makes sense since this mission is that of a three-star ranking. Which I am sure you were previously told means targets at most are highly skilled 9 th stage qi cultivators.

Ava stated before continuing with a bit of satire in her voice.

"You're telling me in a manner of minutes you found a glaring error unseen by the sect when conduction their previous investigation before dispensing the mission?

This is where my previous respect ends. Seemingly your head has outgrown that thing it calls a body."

She then turned around making her way to the exit. From what could be seen from half of her face that wasn't covered by the mask, there was slightly disappoint displayed.

" At the very least hear him out. There must be a reason as to why he has come to this conclusion. Why brush aside something of such significance?"

There was a plea from Malgrey in an attempt to allow Ava to find some semblance of reasoning..

" You're really a lost cause, aren't you? Well, that is on you but if you dare to compromise this mission by calling the sect with his drivel findings.

I will ensure you are stripped of your ranking and make it my personal vendetta to ensure your life is a living hell."

Ava threatened before leaving not giving Margey the slightest glances.

" Taf, Myself, and Ava at times can't see eye to eye on certain matters. However, I have to somewhat agree with her words. Maybe she was harsh in her wording but there is some truth.

Malnor sat beside Taf as he spoke some words of wisdom.

Then he continued "Ask yourself, what good would there be for a Lord Realm cultivator being involved in the affairs of Starlight City? It is a city plagued with mere small-time bandits.

Would one who has entered the realm of Lord lower themselves to such an extent?  Coveting the belonging of merchants and lower level cultivators?

Even if they were involved, what would be the point of plots when brute force would more effective? Think about it, who would there be to stop them if they really intended?

You might not be aware of this but these existence are capable of taking anything desired from those of our realm. Similar to us and mortals.

Lastly, there is even greater deterrence, The Dark Abylis Sect. Being under our jurisdiction it is thus protected. Who in the lord realm would dare to raise arms against us? It would be absolute lunacy."

Soon Malnor stood up and patted Taf on his shoulders before he too made his way outside of Kathy's home. Malgrey then took the seat that was now abandoned.

" So how did you come to that conclusion?" He then asked the question that was still left unanswered. A hand then pulled a bottle of liquor before pouring it out into two empty glasses on the table.

Taf looked beside him while sightly chuckling before saying. " You've surprised me, in the outcome I predicted not one of you would stay behind. Ava's reaction was a given and even Malnor's but you, I thought would follow the crowd."

"Well, I might not be as experienced both Ava and Malnor. Damn, I'm not even in the same class of perception in comparison.

However, one thing I have learned is to follow my gut instincts and at the moment it is saying I should hear you out before disregarding your claim."

Malgrey then uttered as he awaited Taf's response.

"To be honest my initial goal has been achieved. This is a joint operation, after all, so it's only courteous I thought informing everyone of the stakes.

Now, that I have warned them my conscience is now free of the aftermath of their actions.

Enough of the doom and gloom. How about I tell you of my findings while we finally have that drink?"

To be continued...
